PG is my gut feeling too, but a “light” PG-13 wouldn’t surprise me considering this is a an awards-season biopic no doubt pitched at Williams’s teen and young adult fans.
I highly doubt they expect to get Oscars for this.

he film that saved Disney after Pinocchio and Fantasia flopped.
yes this is true. It was a lower budget movie. But of course back then Disney movies would be re-released in theaters and they would make money as there was no home video or streaming back then. They all became profitable eventually.

Huh I didn't realize Rushmore was a Touchstone movie.

4 movies into this list and I still haven't seen any of these movies.

If there's one thing this indicates, it's that the "hip, post-modern musical" formula that made Disney so much money during the 2010s is getting played out, just as the Broadway-style musical formula did at the end of the 1990s. So what new formula is going to replace it?
Just now, dudalb said:On the theory that things go in cycles, probably a return to the Broadway style musicals.............
I don't think you guys realize the style of music that was in Disney movies for the past 10 years or so is in fact, modern broadway style. Same composers and everything.

So if the movie's out on digital now, can we officially call it that this has no chance of even reaching the $250 million mark?
Hmm yeah that seems like a safe bet.
I really do wonder why this movie failed so hard. I guess no one really liked it. -

Big setback for anyone who is expecting a Heron upset against ATSV. Heron isn't even nominated here. In the past 14 years, every eventual Oscar Best animated feature won here, except the only time a movie that didn't get to win an Oscar while it won ACE was The Lego movie.
Best Edited Animated Feature Film
- Elemental — Stephen Schaffer, ACE
- Nimona — Randy Trager, ACE; Erin Crackel
- Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse — Michael Andrews, ACE
- The Super Mario Bros. Movie — Eric Osmond
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem — Greg Levitan, ACE
something tells me this is biased to American movies.

I think Incredibles will be in the top 10, while Inside Out won't
I think Incredibles will do extremely well based on the public lists I surveyed.

Roger Ebert's Review
Man Roger Ebert really made me sus on this movie ever since I read his review when I was 11 years old. It was a collection of all he wrote from 2003-mid 2005.

BTW I'll be making a Letterboxd list of these movies here:

All Empire City is is some jerk who owns a movie theater somewhere and therefore is allowed to see real time box office data. That's it. End of story.

I think that Lord of the Rings animated movie could be a dark horse next year. It's got a cool director. I've got hopes for it. another big studio release that's 2D animation that's a big deal these days.
I'm actually very sus of that movie because I'm not overly fond of the lord of the rings, but yes the director does have an impressive resume.

This might be a little of a tangent, but I was just thinking of how dire this category might be in 2025's Oscars, for thr 2024 movies.
The only animated movie distributed by Disney will be Inside Out 2 and the sequels for Pixar movies don't usually win unless they're called "Toy Story".Spider-Verse 3 is probably not coming out this year. I don't have any idea of what to expect from the movies Dreamworks animation will put out this year...
So the Oscar could very well go to something off my radar at this point. -
Oh hell yeah I've been looking forward to this.

Soul, Turning Red, and Luca are coming to theaters in The Netherlands.

I do think Heron has the upper hand with the academy but definitely don't think it's a lock. It's just a matter of where the balance of support is ultimately.
I don't really know how you'd tell. My gut says Heron will win the Oscar though.

I still think The Holdovers is the #2 to Oppenheimer. Missing Best Director looks bad initially but whatever it's not a showy movie like that. It's the one that has that "feel good" vibe the Oscars like sometimes. It got all the same nominations Green Book got put it that way.
I don't believe for a minute The Holdovers will win Best Picture.

if Sound was still two categories, Oppenheimer almost certainly would have had 14 nominations.

Disney Legend Mark Henn Says He May Have Not Retired “If The Work Had Been More Meaningful”
Yeah I mean he was hired to do hand drawn animation and there wasn't much of that lately.
