Yes pretty much TDK2.0. Probably gonna be WB’s highest-grossing title ever in domestic.
I expect Barbenheimer will become the second highest-grossing entry in NA with $900M lifetime🤓
Oppenheimer will win at least Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor in Leading/Support Role, Best Visual, Best Sound considering its strong box office run & all major award season hits get delayed.
Talking about MI7, we should realize Barbenheimer is a $200M+ opener, like Star Wars, Avengers. Even those movies much bigger than MI can hardly survive from that strike.
I just think people are kind of tired of sequels based on decades old IP. If we have many original movies / young franchises, it’s ok to go to see a 7th or 10th movie for few times. But this year, almost everything is about that. Jones, Fast Furious, Transformers…Even adult elder audience are sick of it.
The biggest concern on Oppenheimer's China release was McCarthyism. On one hand, it's anti-communism. On the other hand, it's like modern society where people get political defamation only because they criticize their government.
I agree. This one is not so ingenious like MI5/MI6 and more like Jack Reacher. Plots and actions are not integrated with each other well like MI6 (more actions) or MI1 (more plots). I do really think it's kind of like Matrix 2.
FRIDAY AM: Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One saw $8.3M on Thursday, repping a 47% decline from Wednesday opening plus previews of $15.5M. Two day total is $23.8M. Hopefully this film spikes today. I mean, it will spike today, it’s just by how much given that A CinemaScore and 4 1/2 stars and 88% on Screen Engine/Comscore’s PostTrak. Guys at 65% gave the movie its best grades at 90%. Women at 35% weren’t that far behind at 86%.
