  1. saw Wonder Woman. It's alright. Yay likable characters and thematic coherence for the first time in DCEU, but there's plenty of unwieldy and awkward writing and the climax is as much of an ugly-looking mess as anything in BVS, which was disappointing after the first two acts.
  2. Presumably cursing all things Star Wars. He changed his last name and was arrested for reckless driving two years ago. I imagine he's not too thrilled with spending years receiving hate from angry nerds for giving exactly the performance that the great actor's director George Lucas asked him to give when he was 9 years old.
  3. Aside from the seemingly endless headache-inducing VFX fest in the climax I enjoyed Guardians 2 more than any Marvel joint in years. More than GOTG 1 too. Better humor, more visual imagination, less obvious soundtrack with some actual thought behind the selections (Suicide Squad and Kong Skull Island can fuck off even more so than before in this regard). Doesn't fall flat on its face in developing the whole fatherhood/family theme too. Beautiful ending. Surprised me after months of the trailers selling a lazy nothing of a movie.
  4. Always thought Cars 3 would open with like mid-40s at best. And now that Alien and Pirates both dropped 30% on OW from disappointing predecessors I don't see why the tired 6-years-later sequel aimed at kids won't do the same.
  5. That reminds me. Space Station 3D is still stuck at 93.3m and it only made 50k since the start of the damn year. At this rate if it ever does hit 100m we'll all be dead by that point except for Tele.
  6. Well you do need to watch Mulholland Drive but because it's an incredible movie not because it has anything to do Twin Peaks. The Missing Pieces isn't essential I suppose but it's useful. Especially if you end up digging FWWM. Lynch was nuts to cut some of those scenes out of the movie.
  7. Check out The Missing Pieces after FWWM too. At least one or two scenes there that have already made some moments in the revival more impactful.
  8. Off the top of my head Minority Report, War of the Worlds, Oblivion, EOT and Mummy are already more than three. And it's not like Ethan Hunt is any kind of a "normal" character.
  9. I remember someone suggested Cruise for Steve Jobs before Fassbender signed on, and while that was never realistically in the cards it could have been something special. Maybe not with Boyle as director though.
  10. Gonna rewatch Temple of Doom tomorrow for the first time since... 2010 I think? Prepared to cringe way more than I did as a kid but that action gotta hold up at least. The opening set-piece alone is kinda mind-boggling in how exhausting it must have been to stage and then edit.
  11. It's cool that they finally delivered on all that Harry/Cooper chemistry but the dark lighting and lack of Badalamenti tunes ruined the execution a little. Still 14 hours to go though.
