The first Fantastic Beasts is a better comparison. Exact same calendar configuration (except that it opened a week later), both it and BP2 made 45m on the Thanksgiving weekend, now they're looking at about the same drop afterwards. FB made 18m on this weekend and added another 51m, which would mean 445m for BP if it followed suit. 450+ is within reach, 460+ seems unlikely.

The critics' groups are free to ignore the campaigning and decide for themselves which category an actor belongs in, though, no?

But for the top 5, only one film failed to get in a top 5. Which again, shows how diverse these lists were.

Could you explain those numbers? Certainly they are not for the weekend. That's $17.4 million. That's a 62% drop from its third weekend. That's the very definition of "falling off the rails".
There will be those who would back pedal and say "that's to be expected" or "people are just being doom and gloom" and be revisionists. Some of those folks were the ones to say that it will reach at least $470 million.
Look up November blockbusters' drops on the post-Thanksgiving weekend over the years. They're always brutal.

Rewatched Catch Me if You Can, and aside from the similarities to Spielberg's own life, Tom Hanks looks so much like Dano in this that I wonder if he would've played the dad if Spielberg made this 30 years or so ago.
We can also tell who would've played the mom. (Not 30 years ago, though, but 10-15)

And just like that, the mighty Flopethee Flopamet proves that he isn't the next big superstar who will save hollywood, despite twitter's obession over him.
He has a built in fanbase of females aged 15-34, but it's a rather small one that doesn't translate into big box office revenues.
Finally we can all sleep peacefully at night now that this is settled.

Would it be fair to say the movie sucks
No, since you haven't seen it. You're welcome. Also a number of actual critics in NYC have seen it and wrote positively about it.

Something new: instead of just ranking everything there will be the option for bottom rankings and you most post a list of at least 30 films/shows to put 10 negatives. for 10 lists you can put 1 negative 20 up to 5. but only list them this way if you actively dislike the project. If you like everything in your list to some degree than ranked them all normally. this is to help counter a any divisive projects and just awful projects that might appear higher than less known prosperities simply because it is ranked. (I will also show where the project would ranked before it's negative points to give an idea of if it is more of a love it or hate it project or simply bad)

after years of shitty blogs who saw the movie on their laptops and whose main complaint was that the movie was "pocahontas in space" dragging down the score, pretty sure it was at 95% back in december 09

Isn't this making the movie more vulnerable against BPWF? A direct competition from likely similar target audience.
They updated the number, it dropped 67%.

@chasmmi you seem to have counted Tokyo Story as a French movie.

Black Adam isn't making 10m off that Friday. Look at 2011 and 2016 IMs. It'll be lucky to reach 8m.

I mean I would hope you prefer your mom to a movie. That would be very confusing and bad priorities.
I do prefer your mom to a movie.

After rewatching them I gotta say that The Man Who Wasn't There and Burn After Reading are top 5. The former is maybe their most emotional under the surface and the latter is so funny and so fucking dark.

This has gotta be the first time ever that a film in its third week is gonna win Thanksgiving weekend, right?
Chamber of Secrets won the 3-day, though not the 5-day.

He's not a bad actor. He's given bad performances but he's found his range. Not exactly anyone could do Point Break and John Wick and absolutely sell both.

I wonder how they're gonna outdo all the excitement of the Lyft driving and the painting subplots from the last one.
