  1. Those are the alt right trolls who voted it down on imdb, a place where you can rate a film before it even comes out. You can't review them until preview night on RT, so they had to wait on RT. There will be those who hate it, but not that many people saw the previews and rated it that quickly, I am certain. And after what happened on imdb it is certainly suspicious. Also, can someone refresh my memory on how to block someone here? I don't want to be spoiled, accidentally on purpose. NVM! I figured it out!
  2. Sooooo.... This is now certified fresh on RT but by the time I noticed it, it had dropped to 74%. I'm sure that isn't where it will end, but it isn't a good look, for the moment. The better news is that at least Top Critics is still at 76%. In any event, certified fresh was as good or better than I was hoping for, so I am pleased. https://twitter.com/ParamountAU/status/908582429819990017
  3. b-b-b-b-but it's so short!!! Some people in Europe got to see 20 minutes of this!!! sigh..... whatever works best for marketing, I guess.... It won't be manga style action but there is action. There is also a LOT of spycraft in the book. There are superficial similarities though, so I'm prepared to hear a lot of comparisons of the trailers - fewer comparisons of the movies.
  4. Well, I'm not sure that's QED but I sure love the data point! From the premiere afterparty in NY last night. https://twitter.com/JLawrenceDaily/status/908255024572067840
  5. there are a few screen caps in here, but a couple of them are spoilery when you see them in stop frame. I think I need the trailer!! People are saying it may be with Kingsman. I (still) think Edgarton is too old to play Nash who is supposed to be on his first/second tour, young and somewhat impetuous. But he was good in Loving and I am willing for him to change my mind. The wigs would bother me - the ones that are supposed to be her disguises, but I know we are supposed to know they aren't real. I like her swimsuit but the one in Passengers was better. I want an action scene! I'm going to watch it again, but for now, that's pretty much a mind dump!
  6. No, not for a passion project. They would get their 'real' money in the back end, if any. Actors want to work with certain directors, and with certain other actors. They want to test their boundaries and sharpen their skills. At least many of them do, and I know Jen does. She takes a lot less for indie type movies, because she knows that otherwise they wouldn't get made - or she would be priced out of them.
  7. yes, but I'm certain they got it from BOM. Up until a day or so ago BOM had nothing, and ( @TalismanRing ) no interview I've heard said what the budget is. It may be $30M before tax credits which make it lower. Or they could just be guessing. OR it might be actual fact. I'm not saying $30M is wrong, but it is considerably higher than how DA spoke about being given his head in part because it was so cheap. The $13M everyone was saying up to the point BOM put this out seemed more in line with the discussion. However I am hoping for clarification, if only because the Indie Spirit awards require a low budget and I was thinking this might possibly be eligible for those.
  8. The IT trailer voice over was awful, no question. I didn't even like the 'MOTHER!' growled at the end of the other trailers. The trailers had set a tone and frankly that dark voice dispelled it. However, I'm pretty sure none of that will be in the movie. I personally wouldn't miss this, but it is all because I can't wait to see Jen in this kind of a role https://twitter.com/pipslawrence/status/90815482650424115 particularly when the vast majority of the the reviews say she is great or much better than great in it. But I completely understand, even without reading the spoilers, that this is going to be a divisive movie, and that there will be those who will hate it. So I have no predictions for the box office or awards either, at least until I have seen it.
  9. Livestream for red carpet at Radio City Hall - Jen looks AMAZING! She's in character with flowers in her hair. apparently there was a hearse there with the mother! logo on it! https://twitter.com/alexi_pix/status/908110257905422336 and thank you @Blankments for all the likes as you caught up on the thread! https://twitter.com/alexi_pix/status/908110257905422336
  10. I would LOVE her with Jane Fonda and Michael B Jordan. I'd also love her with DiCaprio though, in a mentor type role or villain role or something (not romantic despite the age of her real life romance and his typical ones. Besides she's too old for him now! ) I love this look!
  11. Yeah, I think the closest they came to 'marketing it as straight horror', given that they call it a psychological thriller, is attaching a trailer to IT, hoping that crowd would like this too. Some will, some won't, I expect. I'll be interested in the drop as well. I am thinking the word that this is very intense and visceral and not for everyone will have gotten out there, and will both limit initial numbers and restrain the drop -- but I really don't have a clue how it will go.
  12. Well, this explains the marketing approach... Also, @Cochofles it turns out they do have a director (Jen and Amy for their movie) so they just have to schedule the filming.
  13. Since mother! obviously has shout outs to Rosemary's Baby, someone decided to go in reverse and re-cut the Rosemary's Baby trailer in the style of the mother! trailers.
  14. They say they are still planning it but it doesn't have a directer last I heard so I don't know if it will be very soon. also @Cochofles and @WrathOfHanhere is more information about the posters: all TWELVE are at that link in the tweet. etc
  15. Also, @Cochofles I think you are right that Jen and Emily have something of the same facial shape, round cheeks etc...
  16. @Cochofles I think they are 'official' but not that they will be posted in theaters. There are murals going up all over the world, hand painted. The original posters were definitely hand painted. I don't know it as a fact but I would be astonished if these were not hand painted. Even the credits of the film were all hand calligraphied. (If that is a word!)
  17. and I think people who tweet things like below should raise their review's score from 60 on metacritic to something higher...
  18. So at the moment it is still 83 on metacritic with 'universal acclaim'. Kinda don't see that lasting forever with this movie, but I can see the metacritic critics appreciating it as cinefiles more than some of the blogs that review on RT. It will be interesting to see how the two scores compare in the end.
  19. Thanks. I had read your post on that, and was hoping what was funny/incongruous was the deep 'MOTHER!' at the end of each of the trailers. Damn. I'm biased but I did want the trailer to be good, particularly given how popular IT is.
  20. What I originally posted was already here, sort of! Did any of you who saw It see the mother! trailer? if so, was it effective?
