  1. It seems like a full on action movie. The book is heavy with spycraft. On further thought, I think the trailer is likely to be with Kingsman since that is also a Fox movie.
  2. It fits Kingsman better as a movie, but mother! also makes sense. I'm seeing both, so with luck I'll catch this in theater.
  3. Some places they don't even allow the bloody heart in paintings. https://twitter.com/_lawrencepedia_/status/904297596184928256
  4. Well, someone got to see a trailer. Wonder when we will... https://twitt https://twitter.com/George323818/status/904388063043903488
  5. an international trailer with a few more clips https://twitter.com/hairlessjlaw/status/904020763153485825 Anyhow, Darren clearly has no room to talk about footwear...
  6. sigh, yes, but a win this year would have made her the youngest with two... by a couple of months, I believe! I'd love her win, but you are right, her fifth nomination this year or another doesn't make much difference! Seriously!!!
  7. which would be more than 2.5 times its budget, domestic alone, and fantastic! (PS, personally, I think people on AW are trolling eachother.) This is a risky movie. It may do fantastically, or it may 'merely' make money. I don't have enough information to guess which, but as a Jennifer Lawrence fan, I'm here for her risky, possibly too-intense-for-general-audiences, movie. And clearly, it is a risk Bardem, Pfeiffer, Harris etc were also willing to take. I'm pretty sure I will be damned proud of 'this ship' regardless of the box office.
  8. I kinda needed your part, too, to have any idea what you were talking about. So I went back. I can't predict at all what the box office will be here. I will only be disappointed if it doesn't make money and at a $13M budget, it would be hard for it not to make money. There is too much rumor and no concrete fact about the film, no reviews, no unguarded audience reactions. I get that it may be more intense and controversial than other films Jen has been in, and possibly even more so than other films Aronofsky has directed. What that says about the size of the audience, I don't know. I don't think controversial necessarily means bad box office, and could mean people go specifically to see what the movie is about. I'm going, of course. I'm going with someone I don't usually go to movies as much with, who likes horror. I don't know if that says anything about the general public. I respect your well documented and thoughtful opinions on box office, and I will be beyond thrilled if it has a $20M OW. I'd be happy with the ones projected, and anything else is reason for celebration. Mind you, I'm open to celebration! this is the line I had to go back to to make sense of your thread. I don't think the two situations are comparable. This movie is a director lashing out in frustration at the turn of political and environmental events. I agree gore doesn't necessarily kill it's box office, but we can't say gore necessarily bolsters it, either. We just don't know enough about the film to know what it will make at this point, or I don't, anyhow!
  9. I think people who have heard of Requiem as a classic will have an open mind towards this, whatever this is. I expect to be turned inside out.
  10. Thanks for the spoiler tags. I'm guessing there is something which, when known in advance, makes the movie much less powerful, and I don't want to know it. If I see it without spoiler tags, it will be my first reported post here. Not to mention, I'll learn voodoo, for revenge.
  11. also, there are reactions starting to come out from the first screening (the second was out of tickets by the time I saw it, for tomorrow.) If you post them, it would be considerate to put them in spoiler tags, imho. Um, too late, I guess, on the first couple!
  12. OK, I'm not pretending I think imdb polls are accurate, but it still nice to see the interest!
  13. mother earth... Eve... he is heavy on the symbolism... but I think we all knew it was an environmental theme -parallel.
  14. There is another trailer coming out, that was rated 14A in Canada. I'm not sure I'm going to watch it, though. But it seems it will play before 'It!' which is probably a good way to engage that audience.
  15. This. And it is opening near-worldwide - maybe not in China, but China theatrical sites have posted about it. This is a risky project, but it should still make money, even if the general public finds it hard to watch.
