Yeah, it was common knowledge and painfully obvious from day one.
I am curious as to what they come up with to make an Island with giant monsters existing undiscovered in the 21st Century believable. I have no doubt the writers realized this, just curioius as ot how they will get around it.
Well, that's because it takes place in the 1970's (the 20th century). The 70's were a period when some areas of the world were still unknown. LANDSAT was first introduced in the early 1970's, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts took advantage of that information. Source.

What I got from his statement is that he is proud that he entertained doctors and nurses overseas. Did it sound self-indulgent? Somewhat, but I don't think he meant for it to be construed as such.
I agree that it could have been worded more elegantly. But everyone who freaked out about it needs to get a grip.

the director has more experience than all the indie directors who are getting turns at the big budget stuff.
Plus we got Del Toro producing and the same DP as The Force Awakens/ JJ's Star Treks. Im not that worried.
The only thing I feel iffy about is the very fresh talent that will be in this film. But I'm still going to enjoy it, probably.

You should see the arguments taking place right now on Twitter and the Ranger forums over Lionsgate's marketing. Some are saying this is what Lionsgate does for all its movies. To me, that would be a "one size fits all" approach to movie marketing, and does not fit for a known IP like Power Rangers, versus other Lionsgate movies that are unknowns. Some are saying Lionsgate knows what they are doing for marketing, yet still, Bandai is the company that has revealed the most about the zords and villains. Here are the 5 zords, from the movie's Twitter:
*Images*
They pulled this shit with Dredd. A solid, GOOD movie that was mishandled by an amateur, third-rate studio (yeah, I fucking said it. Flay me alive!). Nobody knew when it was coming.
Here they are, almost five years later pissing about with VR and posts on their Twitter account. Yet there is no meaningful advertisement for their film. Just a teaser. The Weinstein Company handles their marketing more competently than these clowns.

*Two tweets.*
Nothing about a new trailer today from Lionsgate on the official movie Twitter, and they have only tweeted about that CES VR experience, now with only about 75 days to go until the film's release.
If this movie isn't the lowest grossing blockbuster in March, then it will be a travesty. It certainly deserves such a fate with the extremely conservative marketing that Lionsgate has been putting out there.

Saying it is a broken record now, but once again, something from the movie has been revealed via a toy release. Power Rangers Now has details for the movie version of the Putties. They are from a Toys R Us page. Zordon may be the only character design that remains to be revealed at this point. While Lionsgate is stalling with the promotion of this movie, the biggest expected competition in March, Beauty and the Beast, this week has been tweeting out about the movie's songs, and putting commercials on TV, a sharp contrast between the marketing strategies so far. This week may see something new about the Power Rangers movie, since there is that VR experience Lionsgate is promoting.
Did anybody else think of this, when they saw the design for the Putties?

In Theaters - Domestic (films made in the U.S.):
Blair Witch - $45,163,532
In Theaters - Imported (brought in from another country):
Shin Godzilla - $1,918,403
-
I never expected it to make more than Godzilla domestically. King Kong has a beat up franchise that is mostly renowned for three films, all of which have the same plot and conclusion. How many times does a movie need to be remade?
Godzilla has never had that problem. It's easier to get excited for a new Godzilla film because he wasn't taken out of his natural habitat and killed like a wild animal in multiple films.

I just watched Kong 2005 and i swear Kong looked better in that than he does in this trailer, although i suppose the cgi may not be final.
Also i haven't been following this film so i'm guessing the reason why Kong is so ridiculously big in this is because they are going to be doing some kind of Godzilla vs King Kong movie in the future?.
The CGI probably isn't final. One of the complaints people had for the second trailer for Godzilla (2014) was that the CGI looked a little shoddy. In actuality, it wasn't finished. So that's probably why the CGI in the November trailer looks unfinished....because it is.
And yeah, the idea is to pit Kong against Godzilla in a 2020 crossover film.

I just want it to do well because this would mean more giant monster movies.
They are my cocaine, and I need my fix.

This piece of concept art, as well as some information about Samuel L. Jackson's character in Kong: Skull Island will be in the December 29th issue of Empire Magazine.

I dunno, half the shots we saw were orange exteriors (far from LA, presumably) and the other half looked like they'd fit right in to the street-level stuff of the LA sprawl.
I could also just be seeing shit. I'm still using a computer monitor I bought in 2006. It may be time to upgrade.

I'd be willing to bet my house there'll still be a shit-load of neon lights and garish advertising.
But to be honest when you're complaining about a Blade Runner movie being gloomy, you might as well call it a day.
I'm complaining because as some have already said, they're probably going to give it the modern "dark and gritty" atmosphere. Not the noir, dystopian feeling that the first film radiated.
I want a dark sequel to Blade Runner. I just don't mean that in a literal sense with sheer darkness and generic filters ("WOW, LOOK AT ALL THAT ORANGE!").
Of course, this is a reflection of my nostalgia for a soon-to-be 35 year old movie in an era where such things are typical. I also understand that this isn't even a fraction of the film. So I'm still going to end up seeing it, probably.

I want to like this, but it's so dark and dreary visually. It should have kept the 1980's color that made it iconic, but I guess that was too much to ask.

The movie is just 3 months away. I'm surprised there wasn't a proper trailer released to time with the release of Rogue One. The marketing has been iffy at best so far and the first teaser didn't even show off the Power Ranger suits. Really strange marketing choices to date, especially for a movie which Lionsgate hopes will be their lynchpin for the next few years.
It reminds me of how they mishandled the marketing for Dredd, except the tracking for this is better (granted, Dredd was aimed at South Africa and the UK) and Dredd had a full trailer out three months prior to its release.
I seriously don't think it'll be the marketing that breaks this movie's box office dreams. It'll be the overall quality of the film, and audience whims.
Added:
Actually, I might be wrong. "New" international trailer. It took them two months to pop this out, with only three months left? No new footage? The numbers for this are probably going to be bad.

I was talking about Jurassic World. Why what did you think I was talking about?
Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Ironically, I don't consider JW to be a science fiction movie. It's more of an action/monster film.

Keep fucking up, Lionsgate. Spend ALL of the money on this. Bet it all on Power Rangers and see what happens...

People really expected this to do great numbers in China?
Chinese audiences know that they're being pandered to. It's different from selling a great movie, which The Great Wall won't be.

Now one of Power Rangers and Gits needs to move from March to 1st week of August.
I could see Power Rangers move. I can also see Lionsgate leaving it on that date.

I'm beginning to think that the poster for Alien: Covenant that we got a couple of weeks ago was aimed at studios and not audiences. Everyone seems to be running from it.

Power Rangers has a practical reason for Lionsgate not moving the March release date: its toys are on the toy shelves right now. Moving it to August, and closer to the August 28 anniversary date of Power Rangers, would mean those toys would be on the shelves for over half of a year before what they are associated with appears in theaters.
I suspect that they'll be sold on clearance soon. It's already been mentioned anyway that this hasn't stopped studios from moving films' release dates before.
Personally, I think this movie is screwed no matter where it lands. But that's just my viewpoint.

There will have a 15 min footage showing to cinema managers on Tuesday evening(premiere). But none of them wanna watch that.
Only one media screening will play the film(not sure if that is the whole film) before opening(7pm Dec.15).
China Film Group hope the film could make ¥3 billion(about $430m) in China.
If it were to make that much money, imagine how that could change the dynamic of the film industry in Hollywood.
Of course, this won't happen. But it'd be a nice paycheck.
