  1. Black Widow’s story and character isn’t entirely revolved around Cap, and can hold her own by herself whether it was SHIELD business, Red Room stuff or the fact she was running the damn Avengers during the snap. Peter is useless without a father figure be in Tony, Mysterio, etc., to guide him inside the MCU, sure he’s taken out villains by himself, but these moments don’t feel earned when he’s repeat the same arc over and over. Spider-Man PS4, Peter has a team but he was the one in charge, and in terms of teens to have the mantle, Miles from Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is a lot like Peter but his arc feels earned because it was not only more dramatically compelling but he worked hard even though it was a team effort, he still pulled his weight. Look just because you don’t like the criticism doesn’t mean it’s not justified for some.
  2. @cayommagazine James Bobin (The Muppets, Dora and The Lost City of Gold) to direct Phineas and Ferb for Y9. Details are mum but rumors have it, to be some sort of live action/animated hybrid and a musical, but this time will focus and dive deeper on the bond between Phineas and Ferb.
  3. True and even then I’m leery about $300M DOM. I also think SM3 has a shot but it’ll likely move to 2022, mainly because Covid is making filming harder, and even surefire things like Batman and JW3 were pushed to 2022. Normalcy won’t return until 2022, maybe 2023 at earliest.
  4. Yes but Peter has his own separate qualities and Miles has his own separate qualities. The MCU Peter while inspired from the Ultimate Spider-Man run, feels a lot more similar to Miles Morales. I understand MCU wanted a different creative choice after Peter has been done twice but simultaneously there’s a lot I don’t like about the MCU Peter. I don’t like the fact that Peter is entirely reliant on others, Peter barely faces social consequences and we’ve yet to see how they will handle the reveal at FFH but given Aunt May is cool with Peter being Spider-Man I kind of doubt it will effect much, and on top of that Peter barely struggles outside of villain fights. I know it’s non tangent to the conversation, but Peter feels less like Peter, and that makes him not interesting to me and more critical about his flaws. I get that why not have Miles as a teen Spidey and Peter as an adult Spidey. Apart from Black Panther, POC heroes barely get much screentime.
  5. Yet the two have separately different cultures, Kamala and Miles have much less in common than Miles and MCU Peter, and I feel like that’s not an apt comparison as Kamala never had the mantle of Spider-Man.
  6. Even apart from Ned and Ganke, his suit are made by others, worships certain heroes, gets quickly involved into larger scaled battle between heroes when first introduced, both have a seemingly middle class life and got into a high tech school, whilst continuing the legacy of a fallen mentor.
  7. Look MCU Peter is already a whitewashed Miles, and the MCU needs heroes of color (well this a problem with Hollywood in general but you get the point), they might as well have Miles.
  8. @cayommagazine Prepare for a double dose of Jordan Peele in Y8. In addition to producing Heartman for Y8, Infinite Studios has bought a pitch from the acclaimed director. The film is said to be a psychological thriller as the plot will be announced over the weekend. John Boyega, Zac Efron, Keke Palmer, Samuel L. Jackson, Laurence Fishburne, Charlie Heaton, Chris Evans, with J.K. Simmons and Jennifer Aniston make up the main cast.
  9. It didn’t release in Christmas though. I feel like spectacle and or humor works best for holiday blockbusters.
  10. @cayommagazine LeBron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy, Trainwreck, Smallfoot) has replaced Will Smith in the cast of Endless Animation’s The Neighborhood as he joins on as a producer though his production company, SpringHill Entertainment. The Neighborhood is also said to be somewhat scary as some inside the studio compare it in feels to 80’s Amblin and Gremlins in terms of tone and some of Laika’s work, which is apparently surprising given its $150M budget. Irving says “Not only is The Neighborhood a bold risk in Hollywood as it has a majority black cast and crew but it’s more scary than some of our other animated fare. It’s not traumatizing for children, nor is it something kids under 8 can’t handle, but it’s still quite chilling for a PG film. I think families will love it just like the rest of our films as even though we change key aspects, the formula of heart, humor dazzling animation and pure fun are still flowing through this film.” The Neighborhood opens May 31st, Y8, as Endless put it in the lucrative post Memorial Day weekend spot in order to benefit as the first family film of the summer.
  11. Coraline - A - 9 year old me had crippling nightmares from the mere mention of this movie, but when I got older and gave it a watch, I loved it. Coraline is one of the best mainstream animated films and in my top favorite 50 animated films. It’s engaging, the animation is stunning and most importantly it’s scary for kids and adults. I also like the metaphors about an abusive relationship which is bolstered by the fact the Other Mother gaslights her victims, and changes her face and attitude once her facade is revealed. The Owl House - B+ - Solid cartoon, not as great as some of Disney other animated shows (like Proud Family, P&F, Kim Possible or more recently Ducktales or Gravity Falls or Tangled) but it’s still damn great, filled with likeable characters and is just fun, also gave a great quality ship. Clone High - A- - Still Lord & Miller’s best TV show. It’s hysterical.
  12. Cobra Kai Season 1: B+/A- - A great reboot and actually a more accurate depiction of high school than most blockbusters. Cobra Kai Season 2: B+ - More entertaining but a slight step down from Season 1. Also Sam keeps causing problems and the pettiness of Daniel still stays. Bojack Horseman S6: A+ - The best thing to come out of animation in the 2010s was Bojack Horseman. The finale is excellent and full of excellent drama. Hoops: F: I’d rather watch Paradise PD than this. Shame on you for being involved in this Lord/Miller even though you are just executive producing. Spider-Man: Homecoming: C+/B- - One of the weaker Spider-Man entries but somewhat fun in its own right, but this is the peak of Spider-Man being tolerable in the MCU for me. Spider-Man: Far From Home: D+ - I don’t like the idea of Peter Parker being white and privileged with only villain threats being the only real drama he faces.
  13. Dune will go to MLK weekend as WW84 will take a Presidents Day gamble, either that or it moves to TSS spot.
