  2. I wrote it mainly due to the fact it was either Y6 or never, and needing July tentpoles and second half tentpoles in general. I wasn’t that passionate and one could tell.
  3. I do want to work more on other genres. I understand and accept that Thirsty could’ve been better and I think when 4.0 comes around I’ll get rid of the Scouts, but I’m at least glad for now it has positive reception, meaning I’m capable of telling a story outside my comfort genre. This is a good learning experience as Y7 I am to break out of my mold.

  6. Congratulations to @captainwondyful @Eric! and @ZeeSoh on promotion to moderators.
  7. July: He-Man IV: The Scourge of Snake Men It is pretty much exactly what we expect from He-Man films now. Fun action packed sequences, glorious cheese, and less than stellar character development. Though more Skeletor is always a plus. B- Yolanda Dreams Of Yogurt Simple and sweet. B- The Academy This is a lesser version of last month’s Tenoyaah, and I can see why it was divisive in Y2. While some of the elements work, most of the film falls flat on its face. In other words, elixir bad, Elliot sad. C de Blob The animation in this one is lovely as the watercolor feel is extravagant, and the characters are all charming - in particular Robbie as de Blob. The story may be predictable but it’s a fun film for families despite it not reaching the heights of the Bounty Hamster franchise or Lumberjanes B
  8. Still there’s no major animation/kids fare from de Blob to Duck Hunt. I think it should do well as this is Shining Star’s third animation after Thymes and Olive. And reviews are solid.
  9. July Bummer Camp: $25.6M/$31.4M/$38.9M/$90.2M He-Man IV: The Sons of the Serpent: $71.2M/$82.5M/$205.4M Yolanda Dreams of Yoghurt: $0.1M/$4.6M/$20.1M Plus One: $51.7M/$201.1M The Academy: $8.89M/$27.6M God of War: Kingdom Come: $49.1M/$112.3M Borrasca: $62.5M/$147.6M Hoops 2: $11.1M/$40.2M De Blob: $47.9M/$185.4M
  10. Out of curiosity why so low on Duck Hunt and so high on Gateways? Follow up where do you see Gateways landing DOM?
  11. June Pikmin - $23.4M/$81.9M Teyonnah and the Renegades - $653k/$8.3M/$30.7M Jeremy Renner has a movie for some reason - $17.2M/$49.2M USS Seawolf - $55.4M/$159.8M Forgiveness - $18.8M/$73.3M Rhino Riders - $27.6M/$97.6M
  12. June Pikmin A beautifully animated and mainly dialogue free film that’s pretty darn cute. Not much else but it’s good for what we get. B- Teyonaah and The Renegades This anthology film while each are well crafted well told, with good morals, at times some of the concepts don’t fit well together and some may have been better off as movies or shorts. But I liked the musical segment. B/B- The Jeremy Renner App: The Movie whose subtitle I forgot This is some nonsensical bullshit but it’s fun at times and has moments of engagement. C+/B- USS Seawolf A riveting Numbers action drama. What’s not to like. B+ Forgiveness I like the concept but for me, I honestly thought it could’ve been more biting and the family dynamic was kind of weak. C+ Rhino Riders This is a pretty standard run of the millfamily flick, a tad too predictable and lack of character development but DeBlois does manages to do some great things with the rhinos which is the high point. Although if Tim had a stronger bond with his Rhino, I’d love it. It’s fun but disposable. C/C+
  13. Big Mouth Season 3 was excellent. I’m glad the creators are staying on Netflix and excited for the spin-off.
  14. Damn it Napoleon, this was the Chaplin/Keaton chat but now you started back up the cycle.
