  1. Now this is a good idea as Ejifior was one of the better parts of the movie but Disney wants to focus on just nostalgia and doesn’t have the stones to try something like that.
  2. @cayommagazine Is Lesedi still coming Y6, according to executives at Endless Entertainment the film although being reimagined once more under Bythewood as her pitch which the studio loved was more African centric and fantasy based. Odds are it may make it to Y6 but Endless wants to make some fillers before heading Barbados for a corporate vacation
  3. BATB made me angry, this made me depressed though it is the worst live action remake? Let’s find out and let’s start my rant: Pros: - Visually impressive at a lot of shots as it looks lifelike, some of the emotions aren’t uncanny and the first five minutes are the best part - Most of the voice acting was pretty good. Eichner and Rogen kill it as Timon and Pumbaa and now I want a spin-off of the two. Ejifior does solid work with Scar and Jones with Mufasa as does McCracy and Joseph as Young Simba and Nala. Woodard is strong as Sarabi and Key and Andre has some fun moments as the hyenas - The songs are all (except Be Prepared) - The third act was fun. Cons: - Aside from butchering Be Prepared, the musical choreography sucks. The fact that they went realistic hurt this a lot. - It’s shot for shot, like literally a good 85% of the script is from the original and you know the animators and writers from the original got shafted. They’re some changes that don’t work because they refuse to expand on them for nostalgia like the lion/hyena dynamic or Shenzi being more “intimidating” in exchange for being more dull. Aladdin may pale to the original and is mostly copy paste but the director added his own flair to alleviate that along with cast chemistry. BATB at least tried a change, this one refused to. The worst part is due to them refusing to go akin to the animated form is missing, like Rafiki’s speech or the badass Be Prepared are cut. If you’re going to be copy paste at least go all out. - The rest of the voice acting not so much. Shenzi wasn’t good, as a Glover stan, it pains me that Simba was somewhat mediocre, Beyoncé is a mixed bag and Kani doesn’t bring it for Rafiki. - The visuals were also awkward at times most noticeable Mufasa’s death scene as the limitations of photorealistic animation inhibits them from showing emotion. Don’t get me wrong there’s a few scenes that show it strong but others either fall flat or are forgetable. My little cousin enjoyed it more than the original due to it looking real and I’m glad he at least enjoyed it. For me though, it made me sad that this will likely be the future of big blockbusters as this was the first time for Disney in a while felt lazy. It’s definitely not the worst Disney remake nor is it not a passable film. D+/C-
  4. My little cousin wants to see Cats due to how awful it looks. He’s growing better in cinema taste. As for The Lion King, at least he liked it. For me, it was trash.
  5. @cookie is being beat at his own game: https://toonado.com/cartoons/ducktales-goes-super-smash-bros-as-season-2-adds-characters-from-talespin-rescue-rangers-and-more-a2815
  6. I mean Eisner wanted to bring back the WDAS library and remake them in computer animation. They sort of did that with The Lion King, so what’s the difference?
  7. Why are directors so afraid to call animation animation and use words like photorealistic CGI or digital fur technology?
  8. You know I wouldn’t be surprised if DWA was pushed to do these remakes by Universal but on the bright side only a few of them would work in live action (Shrek, The 2D animated films, Dragon series, maybe Shark Tale (you’d be surprised at the nostalgia for this and Chicken Little) but I do want to see a live action Over The Hedge.
  9. My mom didn’t grow up on cartoons or doesn’t care for animation due to the fact that she grew up in Barbados where TV wasn’t as big in the 70s/80s as it was for the US.
  10. Moviemann was the only one who I remember who said under $450M. Look at the Summer Game for proof of people disliking t but putting in big numbers Hell I’m against but I said a few weeks ago it wasn’t going under $200M OW and even said $300M OW was possible.
  11. I mean I still don’t see under $600M. But it may be closer to $600M than $700M only because even though Dora and Angry Birds are weak they’re still options for kids. Especially under 12. Though we are jumping to conclusions. I am taking my 9 year old little cousin to see this tonight (guys I showed him the Cats trailer and the first thing he asked if it was real cause it must be a joke) as I’m curious of his reaction.
  12. The one good thing about TLK 2019 (I’ve come to peace with this succeeding and at least theaters are being kept alive) is that they don’t have anything else big except for Stitch, TLM, and Mulan. Pixar likely won’t let them touch their stuff and if they did it won’t be until a good 10 years to capitalize on nostalgia. Stuff like the 2000s films won’t be big at all unless they went different routes, Hercules/Tarzan/Hunchback would do around Maleficent numbers at best, and they can’t use the 2010s until the 2030s and even then some of them won’t work at all like Zootopia for instance. Sure they can try sequels but the only one I think can really work is Aladdin but even then it’s a one trick pony. Aside from that nostalgia won’t help the others.
