  1. It’s decent so far with great chemistry by the leads. Think FATWS but without the muddled who-ultimately-cares Flag Smashers who got a lot of coverage. (Echo and Tracksuit Mafia and SPOILER are a step up entertainment/character-wise as adversaries.)
  2. As mentioned in this thread yesterday, DC fandom took a hit for various reasons in recent years plus mods putting the foot down on franchise wars gone amok.
  3. Not what I was suggesting at all. More like if it was received like say HC or FFH in the “it’s decent” vein.
  4. While the MCU machine is doing fine at the moment regardless, NWH being another monster nearly universal WHOA hit movie does help “true believers” to keep the faith in the brand after Eternals’ performance.
  5. Boy a week makes a big difference don’t it? The powerful of King Kevin to make people demand a sequel to a franchise that previously many of them would rather eat puke than watch.
  6. Quest for 100 pages continues! 2021 MCU rankings* NWH > Loki > SC > WV > HE > TFAWS > BW > WI > E *=Hopefully Hawkeye’s finale doesn’t screw the pooch and make me shuffle my list.
  7. Let’s remember we’re going to basically have two different movie Batmen running around simultaneously the next few years. Thing is you can theoretically do 4 spidermen but you gotta be clever. Don’t do TASM 3 but…Venom 3 where Garfield and Hardy meet. Spider-Man 4? Nah, why not Tobey be a supporting character in a Mayday Parker movie?
  8. I still think that prerelease D+ News made a ton of people stay home. “Why go when I can go see it in a month?”
  9. I suggested this elsewhere: for Tobey, do a Mayday Parker movie. (AU where MJ and Peter’s teenage daughter oh gee also has powers and she basically takes over the mantle, her pops forced to retire because of an injury.) anybody else notice Garfield saying “magic exists here too?” As if magic is a thing in his world too and he’s encountered it before. Nice piece of world building there.
  10. I like Edgar Wright, I do but some of his fans sometimes make me wish for his career to totally collapse and he’s stuck doing CBS episodes just to shut them up. Anyway I adored SR, a movie earnestly trying to honest to God without modern snark emulate old Saturday morning action cartoons (like SR) and buried underneath this blockbuster big budget movie with race cars and ninjas, we have a sincere anti-corporate screed that’s hypocritical yet I respect the gall to do it because the directors wanted to, not because it focus tested well.
  11. Well even if this goes like the Matrix sequels (for better or worse) at least the action will be still well-shot/crafted.
  12. Again not having seen it and just reading the story breakdown on paper, at least this doesn't feel insultingly dumb like when Parker made a deal with Not-Satan to erase his marriage to Mary Jane so Aunt May could live or whatever nonsense. I keep reading that Spider-Man is known in this universe, but not PP is SM or that PP/SM are both completely forgotten. Which is it? The former makes more sense booking-wise so it would be easy whenever Secret Wars or whatever next major cross-over happens that other characters who dealt with Spidey before wouldn't need a re-introduction. Of course historically speaking as much as Spidey the Marvel cash cow was involved in those big comic event storylines, he wasn't considered a major player. He wasn't an actual outright Avenger until.....the 2000s? I would have to look it up. Mostly stuck to NYC and since most Marvel heroes reside/operate in NYC or in that vicinity, that's how writers without much effort could wave off how he could quite often work with the Avengers or Fantastic Four or the Punisher or whatever. Honestly that's one of the things about IW that I low-key loved about that movie which most people glance over, how Spidey enters that plot. Something bad is going down, he swings by to investigate, and BAM! POW! Hey Iron Man, what's up?
  13. Pugh in this episode made me wish BW did better because she would've killed in those sequels as her franchise vehicle. But alas... Who else caught that NWH easter egg? And yes that one thing the Internet wouldn't shut up regarding this show finally happened. Yes, I marked out too so I can't complain. For better or worse this will wrap up broadly what I expected. The you know who is a red herring, set up for future appearances. I wonder how much more Echo we'll get in this show since they've already started her inevitable thread that'll assumingly fuel her show. This might be another finale that underwhelms people.
  14. It's almost like a bitch clutch that now it's gone, they'll find something else to latch onto. Conceptually (execution of it within dramatic context remains to be seen) it works as a clearing the stage device for the next run of movies without as much of the MCU strings attached, until he swings by Avengers again for Secret Wars or whatever I guess.
  15. I just love how salty some people get about Watts, a dude most of us couldn’t pick out of a police lineup. You don’t see such folks be as up in arms about Reed or Derrickson or Shortland or Boden/Fleck or whoever.
