Cliffhanger is a trope for MCU shows after episode 4 apparently, but this got me hooked and ending on a great shot. This show is threatening to dethrone Loki as my favorite. My only real complaint* (and I'll echo what somebody else somewhere said) are the Djinn/Inhumans (they're Inhumans in everything but name at this point) feeling like leftovers from an Agents of SHIELD episode. But when everything else is buzzing so well, eh.... *=Farhan Akhta made a good Hollywood debut here. The guy they got for Red Dagger has nice chemistry with Iman.

I’m curious where this will land at RT. After the initial polarizing reception to DS2, I went into it expecting an AOU messy sort of MCU entry. Instead I rather enjoyed myself, found it better than the first movie.* It lacks the emotional ummpf of NWH and isn’t top-tier MCU, but quick paced (some day neck break pacing, but anymore I appreciate 2 hour movies not messing around since general cinema economical storytelling is threatening to become a lost art) to the point that I realized “oh it’s already wrapping up?” So yeah the polarizing reviews in retrospect do baffle me. 4/5. It certainly like a Sam Raimi movie, or his version of a MCU programmer anyway (that early NYC stuff felt like Spidey Tobey’s NYC if that makes sense.) Or considering his earlier Spidey trilogy tonally help inform the MCU playbook, it’s like if Paul McCartney (who was in the textbook boy band) covered a hit song by BTS. I think what might help me with L&T is that I enjoy Ragnarok, but not as much as large segment of Marvelites do with that fan favorite. It’s not a high bar for me, while it is for others. *=Which I learned reading some responses is a top tier MCU movie for many folks. I liked that movie, but it’s boiler plate MCU for me. But I’ve been around long enough to realize most entries are somebody out there’s favorite/one of their favorites.

Kraven: Pet Detective lol Jokes aside, I suppose you make him an anti-hero pro-environmentalist action figure. Mind you I'm one of those old timer Spider-Man fans ("get off my lawn!") who struggles to imagine Kraven outside of the context of a Spidey yarn.* Of course Sony also struggled (if not lamely failed) to make an anti-hero vampire movie starring an Oscar winner* just this year, so.... *=Granted I thought the same thing with Venom and well, Tom Hardy's new mansion proves me wrong so what do I know?

Underdog situation for a formulaic underdog story franchise? It's fitting. I'm curious how MBJ does as director.

Want to know a secret? If knowing continuity was needed to watch these things, MCU never would've made it this far. Flipside, I remember at my MOM screening there was an 8 year old* explaining MCU mythos minutia to his mother, like Wanda. *=Incidentally such a young dork fan full of passion and useless information is the sort of demo Ms. Marvel series seems to be gunning for.

I still hate that BW underperformed that we're getting this instead of a Pugh-led BW sequel. That crew with Bruhl should be fun. Is this like a Suicide Squad movie if it wasn't totally hated or didn't flop?

The fact this is Iman's first acting gig makes it even more impressive. What a bursting ball of charismatic energy. Can't wait to see her in The Marvels. Honestly first two episodes, this is smoking Kenobi so far. Was looking forward to the show (if mostly because of how great that original comics run was) but didn't expect this to happen.

Cynically speaking starting with the Hawaii stuff, it read like WB was punting dealing with Ezra until after the movie comes out and who knows if they went into "rehab" maybe they might get their stuff together and WB won't have to cut loose. Ezra isn't doomed, I mean RDJ is that rare walking dumpster fire who cleaned up and became a feel good movie star story. But that idiot* is throwing away a potentially major movie career. It's like if RDJ in his "drunk and breaking into people's homes" stage was playing Iron Man.
