I guess all the trailer dislikes were from real people and not just bots.

Maybe relative to expectation of being safe at greenlight time, but a MCU movie will even now always do something just by habit.
Depend on the definition, giant movies like the The Adventure of Pluto Nash did not reach 10m at the box office, Heavens Gate did not do $5m and closed United Artists has an independant studio.
John Carter, Battleship, Mars Needs Moms there is good one to compete with.
I think much more was spent on marketing with The Marvels than those movies. Also what’s funny I like all those 3 movies and even The Marvels. Lol my tastes are a good indicator of floppage.

I fell bad for Brie, she didn't deserve this. Feige, writers, and marketing all let her down. Also worst luck in the world with the 2 strikes.
Well it’s not like she elevated the material. She brought not real charm or charisma to the role. Emily Blunt could’ve pulled it off better with the same material.

Biggest box office disaster of all time? Heard the budget for this is closer to $300 million and they spend at least $100 million on marketing. $200M loss for sure, maybe $300M?

Eternals had romance and a sex scene but since it's Eternals it doesn't count.
I like Eternalsmost underrated MCU movie.

Kinda funny most people who are seeing this movie are men.

I am actually getting excited more for this! I’ve enjoyed most of Disney’s huge flops like Dial of Destiny, John Carter, Lone Ranger, etc. I’m gonna watch it in 1 hour.

I really don't understand how Sony fucked this one up so badly. It had everything to be a big win. Someone it turned into a F Cinemascore.
The marketing sucked and people said it was a boring art house film. The funny thing even lovers of art house cinema said it was bad... So no one was happy with the result. But yeah this should've easily done $20M+ OW considering Grudge franchise is widely known. What a mess!

He seems like a critics' darling. I have seen The Old Man and the Gun and think the writing is dull and detached from the weight of the story. And its sometimes playful direction is pretentious. Not a good artistic work.
David Lowery directed and wrote The Old Man and the Gun...

Wouldn't be surprised if this did worse than Genisys...

Yikes this is gonna drop more than 50% from the original. This might not bode well for Minions 2.

Pretty bleh score. I guess 60%+ drop in store for next weekend?

Holy crap Dark Phoenix may drop 77%...

So Hemsworth is pretty much toxic outside the MCU? How many box office flops has he been in? Seems like close to 10 imo. Even the ones that weren't big money losers were either critical flops like Vacation or just did meh like Rush or 12 Strong. Also safe to say the first Snow White and Huntsman movie was helped by Kristen Stewart who was big at the time hence the sequel flopped when she wasn't in it.

I have it from a good source that sabotaging DP for OW so it would be really low was the plan all along for Dark Phoenix. Now the real marketing will begin so the movie can rise like a Phoenix from the ashes to a 10-20x multi. Super revolutionary marketing tactics coming, stay tuned.

The marketing has been garbage. I'm actually shocked it's being released next weekend. It'll make closer to RIPD than any of the MIB movies... Hemsworth curse continues.

Underwhelming numbers all around this weekend. Really thought Aladdin was locked for no worse than 50% after that Tuesday.
It's a fine drop most movies fall harsher the weekend after memorial day weekend.

I think the movie would’ve made more $$$ if they just straight up did a Captain Marvel 2. People were confused with this movie being a direct sequel or not.
