Wow looks like Alita might be having a disastrous drop. (65%+)

I think this movie would've benefited a lot if they didn't rush the romance. I think they should've been on the friend zone at the end of the film. It would've been better if they explored their relationship more in the sequel. I don't know does he come back in the manga?

$300 million seems locked considering $50M OW projection in China next weekend.
-
$94M OS according to BOM.

It feels like the marketing for Alita turned good a bit too late. Decent 5 day OW. Should end with 90M or so. We will never get a sequel and I certainly wanted one after that ending.
I could see a sequel if Avatar sequels make $2B+ and Cameron insists on it.

Okay,,, Judging from the trailer this isn't some masterpiece high brow comedy that we were hearing about.
-
Lol ofc Deadline is constantly reminding us that Alita will only get a quarter of the revenue from China. Haven't seen them say it constantly to other films...

There's a snowstorm in the Northeast today so increases might be a bit muted.

Yup, same kind of launch too. If it follows the same thing in the US, that's around mid 20s.
Clearly this movie's fate is going to rely on China. Hopefully it breaks out enough there.

Well it did open better than Ghost in the Shell in U.K which opened with $2.9M.
-
Chris Hemsworth better hope they don't have Thor die in Endgame lol.

Yeah I was looking at the showtimes at the nearest Imax and noticed they were playing this in the Imax theater. I was shocked to see it since I never heard about it. The plot is ridiculous
The plot is awesomely ridiculous though. Honestly I like balls to the wall Sci-fi it's called Sci-Fi for a reason lol. This isn't supposed to be an episode of Cosmos.

Unbelievable how badly WB botched this up. They seem to have forgotten to even advertise Shazam, so I feel like that's gonna disappoint pretty hard too.
I don't think it's WB fault. Interest just died. Also it's been overexposed with Ninjango and Lego Batman.

Oh wow Joni 75: A Birthday Celebration was 3rd on Thursday. I've been a long time fan of hers.

Wow Hailee and the Bee really kicked the crap out of Emily Blunt and the mouse. I'm glad for Paramount. I was hoping for 4x production budget but 3.7x is almost as nice.
Paramount got $60M to sell China rights.
$135M Budget - $60M = $75M
$455M Worldwide - $170M China = $285M with probably another $15M coming from Japan. So a $300M gross on a $75M budget is pretty great. It will do 4x for Paramount.

Chinese New Year is one of my favorite box office times of the year. I love seeing huge numbers!

Total Lifetime Grosses
Domestic: $124,253,188 27.3% + Foreign: $331,000,000 72.7%
Worldwide: $455,253,188
$470 million+ seems safe.

For $50 million this looks pretty damn good. The director clearly is making great use of his budget...
I love Sci-Fi so I'll see it.

I'm disappointed that Affleck is gone.
It wasn't his Batman that was bad, it was the writing he had endure as Batman.
Shame on DC for letting a director derail the synergy these actors had begun to build.
Marvel didn't allow for that. Vision, Warners lacks a solid vision.
He has to be the fall guy sadly...

I have a feeling this will be a cult movie in about 5 or 10 years.
