Oof the budget is $130M for MPR. It might need overseas to save it which is unlikely. I always knew all along this was being overpredicted...
-
What's the tracking for this? In the teens?
-
Bumblebee predictions? $100 million+?
-
Even though this is tracking to open low I do think WOM can boost it.

...or Ant man and the wasp, opened with $ 86M in 41 markets.
🤷🏼♂️
That had South Korea which opened to $21M. It crashed though and barely maintained 2x multiplier.

$72M OW OS - CH 🤔 seems pretty good, any comparisons ?
It still has many other big foreign markets like South Korea, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Australia, Italy and Japan. Plus many other smaller countries.

So $72M OW from those 40 markets minus China. That's really good. Some numbers might seem deflated considering people are busy the couple weeks before Christmas. Should play really well during the holidays.

God I hope Into the Spiderverse does Coco numbers.

Any chance to pass $ 500M WW?
Probably too early to say. It might open low but legs might be great due to holidays and being a more family friendly film.

Kind of shocked no one has bumped this yet.
Anyways how does it seem to be doing internationally right now? I know Russia numbers are weak but India's look strong.

It almost feels kind of weird that we're getting a good transformers film. Like it doesn't seem natural lol. I guess we've been bogged down with such idiotic crap that it feels like it's just something that goes with the franchise...

Captain Marvel to beat Aquaman?
Nope.

I could see this opening low but hold really well ala Greatest Showman.
Right now I'd say:
$30M OW
$130M DOM
$500M WW

Shame about Overlord. It is really a fun movie. I hope it can find its audience when it comes out on netflix or something.
Should do better on streaming.

Not much verse with Japense box office, though feel that The Lion King can do ginormous business in Japan. Baahubali: The Conclusion which has its similarities to The Lion King in story had good reception there, so have two questions.
1. How much The Lion King (original) did in Japan?
2. Can the The Lion King (2019) do in excess of $175mn in Japan.
Probably not. $80m - $90m is my prediction right now.

Reviews likely killed it. It's a death sentence in the specialty market.

Scott Cooper is a very underrated director. I'm excited for this.

Thanks for all of your infos. May I add a question? I read that different distributers... plan(ed) to release the movie in e.g. Australia,...
Will they too ~ loose the film (to e.g. avoid future problems)?
Dayum $100M down the drain... You could've built a nice building with that.
-
Does it have overseas competition? Don't see First Man doing any blockbuster numbers.
-
I really liked this but oh man was Cooper hard to understand especially when drunk and Sam Elliott. I could barely make out what they were saying in their last scene together in the car. Cooper and Gaga were amazing, fantastic songs, moving story, etc.

U.S/China relations are worsening. I think at some very few American film will be allowed in theaters.
-
This will be a crowd pleaser. I'm sensing a break out in terms of boxoffice.
-
For a $150M blockbuster these numbers would be very solid. For a September $22M horror movie it's quite phenomenal.

Completely disagree with this take. Throughout the movie there are various allusions to modern events (David Duke says that more people like him need to be in office in one of the more "wink wink" lines) and the closing footage of Charlottesville and Trump praising the Nazis brings it all home by showing that yes, people like that indeed are in office right now and that this shit is very much happening today still.
I get the message but I just didn't think it worked the way it was introduced in the movie. It was jarring especially cause of the rushed ending.
