Hopefully the next Dark Universe movie will be much better.
I have faith in Bill Condon.

This probably will gross $ 500m, right?
I'm thinking $ 160-170m in USA, $ 40-50m in China [i can't see this doing less than Dory], $ 290 OS - China.
$400M doesn't look likely at all. I'm predicting it to miss it. I guess it doesn't matter because of toy sales.
-
$53.1M OS.
I don't think $400M WW is happening. It's underperforming everywhere (except Bulgaria lol) from the last one. What a shame and I liked this too. It's a big improvement from Cars 2 and way better than DM3. Toy sales means it'll likely be very profitable when it's all set and done.
-
$900M - $950M is where it's probably heading.
-
Baby Driver should hold well even with competition.
-
Paramount was smart to sell Transformers China rights for $100M. For them the film pretty much made $400M in China before release. I don't share the same pessimism with the Bumblee movie that everyone here seems to. If the film is good it should be a success.
-
Was hoping for $450M+. This is not good.
-
If reviews are good:
OW - $32M
DOM - $105M
WW - $450M
If crappy:
OW - $18M
DOM - $40M
WW - $220M
No matter what I'll watch this Thursday night.
-
Wow this could've been a huge breakout hit like Wonder Woman if the quality was there. $600M+ WW could have easily been made.

Do we have an estimate of how much this needs to do in order to break even?
Depends on how much it does in each country. Each country has a different tax rate of how much the studio gets from gross.
-
Lol it's funny when they advertise "from the director of Lucy".
I'm always like:
When I see it. They should just leave The Fifth Element and The Professional there.

Minions is one of the worst 10 films of the last 3 years IMO, and SLOP is in there for good measure too:
1. FANT4STIC
2. Minions
3. SS
4. Legend of Tarzan
5. SLOP
6. Goosebumps
7. The Last Knight
8. The Circle
9. King Arthur
10. The Visit
Lol gtfo of here with Goosebumps. That movie was hella fun.

It can match Dawn of the Apes domestically and worldwide. I'm predicting it to make more:
OW - $80M
DOM - $250M
WW - $820M

It's out in just 23 countries... and it's doing good in all apparently.
It's opened lower than Cars 2 in all countries so far except like Bulgaria. And by a lot like 30-50% in Mexico and Russia.

600 m is way under TASM2 plus Paramount only gets a small percentage of China's BO.
I heard Paramount sold Chinese rights for like $100M.

Transformers 4 only made 1 billion thanks to China's grosses ( almost 400 million ).
However, the fifth movie is dropping everywhere, including China. It's also a domestic flop.
I mean franchise fatigue will certainly set in if you don't change the style much. The 5th film of a franchise still doing $600M+ WW ain't half bad.

Yeah, but drops won't be pretty. Despicable Me 3 and Spidey will kill this movie worldwide.
It's summer, movies can exist alongside each other making $$$. Harry Potter Deathly Hallows PT 2 didn't hurt Dark of the Moon much. Both did well over a billion.
-
$400M WW is in danger.
-
$265M WW with 20% more markets to open is still blockbuster level. People in here are exaggerating. Yea franchise fatigue is clearly real (It's the 5th film) but it's still making $$$. A revamp or reboot can turn things around easily. Kind of annoying how some people are rooting franchises like POTC and Transformers to doom, yea you might not like these films but clearly millions still do. I don't wanna just see superhero movies.
-
$265M WW with about 20% markets left to open is nowhere near a flop. $700M WW is still very doable, lets see the drops next week.

Is TF6 going to happen at this point? I can see Paramount asking Bay step down.
They will probably reboot it. I mean why would they give up a franchise who's lowest grossing film is still $600M+ WW. Especially if they don't have many franchises like Disney has.

How was King Arthur, asking for a mod
SpoilerHe was good for a small part doesn't do much. He's mostly in the beginning.

Just came back from the movie and enjoyed it for what it was like POTC 5 go with the right expectations. The Visual Effects are best in the series I believe, my jaw dropped multiple times. The story was a mess but I've come to expect for a Transformers movie. The ending was rushed. I'd rank it third best behind Transformers 1 and 3.
My theater was was packed and people seemed to enjoy it.

People hate it when franchises that they don't like make $$$.
