Most casuals watched CW purely out of obligation.
IW is a different beast all together.
We’ll see I still think 2.5x is not locked.

Where is the proof that Civil War had a better reception than Infinity War? The truth is we don't know what the reception is yet so claiming that is absurd. People don't want to see their Superheroes fight so I doubt IW will be less well received than Civil War.
Critical reception, yes Civil War’s is better. Civil War also has an A cinemascore. Honestly shocked as to why some here think it’ll be a leggy film.

Avatar domestically is not happening. I still don’t think 2.5x is locked. Civil War had better reception and that didn’t manage it...

Poor Rampage should recover next week with a very light drop. A Quiet Place doing great looks like it can top Get Out domestically.

$2B Over/Under 50%?

How did Paramount manage to get a China release for A Quiet Place with their supernatural laws?
Cause it ain’t a film about ghosts, demons, etc. It’s Sci-fi horror.

Boxoffice report is saying Rampage did $21M. That’s a great hold and if it doesn’t completely collapse next weekend then $100 million is achievable.

Rampage will probably perform really after its theatrical run especially on TV. It’s made for FX.

Whoops sorry guys I thought the China release was this weekend.

So that WW opening record is locked right?

When dom returns are healthy, 2.5x*prod budget is a good enough global safety mark. Rampage should at least do 3x :
92.5 dom
132.5 china
135 os-china
= 360 ww (3.0 * 120)
92.5*0.55 + 132.5*0.25 + 135*0.33 = 129
It should do more than $135 million minus China overseas. Tomb Raider did $133 million and this is doing way better. I think $400 million is a very achievable goal

$100 million looks like a reach for Rampage. We’ll know for sure depending how big it drops next weekend and how light the drop the weekend after is. Overseas it’s doing great, China seems to be holding really well. Around $400 million worldwide is a win.

Hopefully this is great so we can get another great animated trilogy. In terms of box office I’m guessing around $150 million domestically and $500 million worldwide.

Pretty good numbers overall. Let’s hope all movies have a great drop this weekend before box office Armageddon.

It only did 1.23x the reported budget during its opening weekend, in other words FLOP, the "video game curse" strikes again!
It has a shot at $400M. How is that a flop?

MoviePass is no longer offering unlimited movies for new subscribers; it's now a quarterly subscription for $30 with 4 movies per month and IHeartRadio
I mean that still a damn good deal. Good thing I’m already subscribed!

Boxoffice report on twitter said it made $33.8 million over the weekend which means $360.2 million internationally and $474.8 million worldwide. $600 million doesn’t seem likely.

So that seems like a pretty awful number for the big expansion weekend.
How much did it cost, anyway?
I heard $35 million but not 100% sure.
