  1. My goodness, that's so expensive as heck!! Even a season of The Walking Dead costs only $15 in Amazon.
  2. How about if there's a comparison between this niche anime thing in Japan and the popularity of American TV Series that are mostly aired in US during prime time? Are the TV series also considered niche as well?? Sorry, but I've never paid attention to the American television and their prime time programs, so I think there might be some correlation between the anime popularity in Japan and TV Series in the United States.
  3. Hmmmm.. Can you explain more specific that "anime in Japan is niche in a daily sense"?
  4. Yeah! I don't understand how anime is a niche thing in Japan. Pokemon, Doraemon, Case Closed (Detective Conan), One Piece, Dragon Ball. Even some animes like Love Live!, Yo-Kai Watch, Death Note, Lupin, Hunter x Hunter are the most popular and their anime movies did really good in Japan.
  5. 15 of 100 highest-grossing movies in Japan are anime movies. 9 of 50 highest-grossing movies in Japan last year are anime movies. Spirited Away is the highest-grossing movie in Japan. Even a random anime film like Yo-Kai Watch almost beat SW:TFA in Japan in 2014. But most of the highest-grossing anime movies are distributed by Studio Ghibli, so I don't know whether this is bad news or not.
  6. Yeah, I wonder what Japanese people will react if there will be a live-action adaptation of Pokemon or Case Closed (Detective Conan) or the Studio Ghibli's movies. Remember that these movies are more publicly well-known than GitS.
  7. The 1995 original animation of GitS was just a cult film rather than a huge box office hit. See my post below about the box office performance of the animation in the year 1995 when it's released. It turns out that the animation is not anywhere in the top 10. The same goes to the critically-acclaimed animes like Paprika, or Perfect Blue. These movies are not hugely popular, but become well-known among fans. That's why they are the examples of cult classics. However, I wonder what if the Japanese public would react if there will be an American adaptation of Doraemon, Case Closed (Detective Conan), One Piece, Pokemon, Dragon Ball, or some Hayao Miyazaki's movies. These movies are famous not only by their fans, but also the audience.
  8. She's a supporting character in He's Just Not That Into You. If I only count the main characters that she has played, GitS is her first rotten movie on RT since the Nanny Diaries. And Nanny Diaries was released in 2007.
  9. GitS is just a cult anime rather than popular animes like Pokemon, Dragon Ball, One Piece.
  10. The same goes to the 2002 sequel of the original GitS. The sequel is less better than the original. I start to wonder whether Blade Runner 2049 would have this kind of case.
  11. Yeah but the Matrix has introduced cyberpunk to the public because The Matrix was hugely more popular than the original animation of GitS.
  12. As far as I know, we had the first 3 Pokemon movies and the Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films that are considered huge, popular anime films in the US. GitS is nowhere near as popular as them. So, yeah no comparison!
  13. Remember that when the original animation was released, GitS was a cult film rather than a huge box office hit. It is nowhere near as popular as other animes such as Pokemon, Dragon Ball, or One Piece. Look at my post below. The original animation did not reach the top 10 box office 1995 in Japan although it's a Japanese animation.
  14. @Rth and the Beast has liked my latest post. So, $22m for BatB.. I have no idea about the island image, maybe it's related to PR's numbers.
  15. Will France be included as well? I say this because the story is set in France and there might be chance that France will follow the battle between those 3 countries..
  16. Let's see: DH2: $124m in Japan $117m in UK $78m in Germany $67m in France BatB has just opened in Germany, but it's very lower than DH2's German opening. It also depends the box office performance in Japan, so yeah it's too early to tell.
