They're not trying to save Ezra Miller. They're trying to save the $200+ million that they invested in the movie and the future of the DC franchise.
Isn't Dwayne Johnson the future of the DC franchise?

I guess I'm the only one who thinks this looks incredibly stupid.

These criticisms of the script are amusing. Are we suddenly pretending that all those other superhero flicks represent the pinnacle of the art of scriptwriting?

Please keep Batman away from any expanded universe. Keep it self contained
Yes, please. Keep Reeves locked away in his own dull, poorly-written, derivative corner of the multiverse.

Terrible. Im so over Margot Robbie.
Biggest awards season critical flop in the past decade.
I expected better from David O Russell.
Meh. Russell peaked with Spanking the Monkey.

Bullet Train is such a piece of junk. Pitt should be ashamed.

I think Zaslev is making some wierd decision...I can understand not giving Batgirl a theatrical release if the management thinks it's not very good...ait costs ten of millions of dollars to get a film into theaters...people forget it was started as an HBOMAX feature and a theartical relase was just a afterthought,..but not giving it a streaming release makes no sense. you spent the money might as well
get something out of it.
Apparently, if it's given any kind of release it can't be treated as a tax write-off/write-down or whatever.

That makes 0 sense.
It's superhero stuff. Anything can make sense.

Maybe they can replace Miller just for the 3rd act?

As @Valonqarsaid earlier, it's the international numbers that are most disappointing and baffling to me about The Northman. Domestic frontloading was disappointing but that 12.2 m OW is what it is.
The international numbers being even worse (much worse) surprises and saddens me more. I thought this would have appeal at least in Europe
Good to see a rare outbreak of global sanity.

What’s up with the “Northman is doing good” takes? 15m on a 90m is bad. Plain and simple
The Eggers cult, I guess.

Honestly, I couldn't care less if I never saw Pattinson or Kravitz in these roles again. I'd happily revisit Gotham, but I really wasn't slightly invested or connected to anything that happened. It feels so empty to me. Incidentally, I had the same disconnect from War for the Planet of the Apes, despite loving the first two movies in that franchise.
They were both utterly unconvincing - as was the film itself.

What he really should resign from is that crazy-ass marriage.

You know there's something deeply wrong with the Oscars when Shawn Mendes is a presenter.

Not a bad scene on it's own, but I think it was a smart decision (narrative wise, not box office wise) to cut it. It's too derrivate in my opinion.
The whole movie's derivative!

- But a much bigger problem is that the central mystery driving the plot is... not very interesting. I appreciate this wasn't another end-of-the world narrative but in a three-hour why-dunnit you really have to care about the 'why'. I'm neutral on Dano, from what little we saw of him he was exactly as I expected. I almost forgot he was in the movie at points.
- Because the central mystery wasn't interesting the plot in the second half became very 'and then this happens, and this happens, and then this happens'. I knew when we saw those damn twins answer the club door for a third time it was beyond the point of no return. A real shame becuase the beginning of the movie is incredible.
Thank you! After all the blather from Reeves about how he was going to craft a real mystery that concentrated on Batman's skills as a detective, imagine my disappointment when I was confronted with an utterly un-mysterious screenplay that consisted of one hideous info-dump after another and artless, heavy-handed dialogue. Has Reeves actually seen a noir classic? It was very poorly written and I'm worried that its box-office performance will simply encourage the studio to allow him free rein for the sequels.
Anyway, it's not a patch on the Nolan trilogy.

My overall point is social media EXTREMELY tilted in favor of Gen Z. Zoe is big. But can only imagine what type of social media reaction we would receive if they cast Elordi as mainstream, marketable Superman (unlike Cavill or Routh who presented as emo and retro respectively).
Centineo has kind of a goofy, everyman energy to him. He will be interesting playing off The Rock.
Cavill? Emo?? I don't think so. Silly old floppy-haired one-note R-Patz? That's emo.

FWIW, I didn't care for this version of Batman, too dark and gloomy for my taste, but I'm still rooting for it to do gangbusters at the box office. A strong box office is something we really need right now. I hate seeing the places empty or lagging. With NWH and now Batman, and even Scream and Sing, it looks like people are ready to come back for the right kind of movie.
Yes, the numbers are very good. Just a pity the film itself doesn't merit the success.

I'm fine with this. By all means, give James Wan time to make this as gorgeous and as eye-popping as possible.

I really hope we get to see Batman actually be a detective in this film. He is supposed to be one of the world's greatest detectives. but so far in the moview he has not done much actual detective work.
Reeves' intention was to highlight that aspect of the character.
Black Adam | October 21, 2022 | New Line | Don't worry, it's a hit. Dwayne Johnson says so!

Not to mention this lacks the visual wow-factor that made Aquaman a must-see on the big screen.
