  1. Didn't like this movie, but my brother watched it with me and loved the over the top violence and pretty juvenile humor. I thought the movie had a few good moments, like the ambush of the resistance soldiers. I also thought Peacemaker and Deadshot, I mean Bloodsport, were good. Suddenly, Harley has more skill and toughness than Spiderman and Black Panther combined. I'm over her character. I think I'm also over James Gunn in general because I hated Guardians 2. I give this movie a C-
  2. I agree with all three of those ratings. I initially gave WW84 a 5.5/10 and felt like I was being generous.
  3. For me, this movie was a mess. It's way too silly, long, and lacking in action. The ending was preachy and ridiculous. I doubt I'll ever watch this movie again. 5/10
  4. It always matters to the studio how much a mega franchise makes. Heads will roll if this fails to rise to expectations.
  5. I think you're right in the ballpark. I figure $155-$165 million.
  6. When I go to see Thor, a comic I've read for 40 years, I wan to see Thor Odinson not Jane Foster as Thor. Jane Foster as Thor upsets me to no end.
  7. Female Thor is hard skip for me. No way in hell would I watch that.
  8. Scarlett Johansson gained a lot of respect from me. I have often disagreed with her on issues, but here, she was spot on. An actor should play any role offered to her that she also has an interest in.
  9. SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME The movie was okay, but not much more than that. I was pretty bored the first hour of the movie with all the teen romance/ high school hijinks. MJ was okay. the rest of Peter's classmates and his teachers were more annoying than funny. I wish a drone strike would take out Flash Thompson and Ned. They're both worthless. The last 30-40 minutes had some very good moments, with some top notch action. Samuel Jackson and Jake Gyllenhaal were excellent. Tom Holland wasn't as good to me this time. Spidey should wisecrack more and be a little less whiny in my opinion. Overall, I give this movie a C, maybe a C+ if I'm being generous.
  10. Very strong Wednesday! I was expecting $22-$23 million. I'm thinking Endgame will be at $640 million domestic by the end of the second weekend. I originally predicted Endgame would be at an even $600 million by that time. Endgame keeps beating my predictions. I think this movie is the one to do $1 billion domestic or within $20 million of that.
  11. Never understood the meh reactions to Avatar I see online. To me it was a masterpiece. James Cameron is the greatest filmmaker of all time!
  12. Congrats to the MCU for another hit and everyone who accurately predicted this movie's success! I will not bet against the MCU juggernaut again for the foreseeable future, especially on an event film like Captain Marvel.
  13. I would also put Captain Marvel near the bottom of the MCU, somewhere in the Thor 2 Iron Man 2 level of film quality. Brie Larson felt miscast, and here character didn't really seem to have an arc. Carol Danvers is pretty much the same character the entire movie, with the same quips and I can do anything attitude. I thought Samuel L. Jackson was really good. Talos stole the show for me. Mendelsohn gave the film's best performance! Jude Law was also good. Every dude in the movie, besides Nick Fury, was an incompetent clown or cat-calling misogynist ("You know why the call it the cock-pit right?" "Why don't you give me a smile?"). It was too on the nose for me. The story itself was okay at best with some massive plot holes. The action overall was meh, although I did like when CM took down the Kree missiles and starships. The fight scenes were not very engaging or imaginative. I just didn't find much to like about the film, and I was pretty much mentally checked out when the I'm just a girl song played as Captain Marvel beat everyone senseless without any effort. Ant Man and the Wasp was also very weak in my opinion. I need Avengers Endgame to really bring it to wash the taste of Marvel's last two movies out of my mouth. 5/10
  14. It's idiotic to assume everyone or even most people in any group are a certain way. I would never suggest that most people in the media are shills. That would be stupid.
  15. It's wrong to insult anyone for his or her honest opinion. But don't get it twisted, there are shills in the media who will sometimes not truly say what they think about a movie, director, actor, or movie studio because they need access to these entities and people.
