To me decent reviews is the film ending with 60-65% on Rotten Tomatoes. So far that doesn't look to be happening. It's RT rating could always go up though.
Anyway, it's a comedy so it could still survive without decent reviews.
Like most people and even studios, I don't ever check the Metacritic website so that NEVER factors into my predictions. Rotten Tomatoes is what people pay attention to.
Stop putting billion dollar expectations on all DC movies. I never see people put billion dollar expectations on all Marvel movies but for some reason all DC movies have that expectation. Yes BvS should have made a billion but that's the only DC film that should have had that expectation. Wonder Woman 2 doesn't have to make a billion to be a hit. I can already see people putting that expectation on it though and that's unfair.
Spider-Man: Homecoming will easily make 300+mil. I don't think it's hitting 400mil or anything but I see 350mil. Tony Stark and it probably being the first good Spidey movie since Spider-Man 2 will get it to those kinds of numbers.
Fury Road did okay for the sort of film it was. It was Oscar nominated for best picture and director and had stellar reviews. Fury Road can never be treated as a loss for Theron as it gave her an iconic role alongside her Monster role to be remembered for.
Snow White and the Huntsman did okay, it's problem was it's too big budget.
Wanting Wonder Woman to be bad is so baffling to me. I understand expecting it to be (I don't have high hopes for Justice League) but WANTING it to be bad is odd. No matter what one feels about the actual movie it succeeding is a good thing for equality in the entertainment industry.
Some people were so expecting Wonder Woman to get the worst reviews and not do very well that they don't know what to do with themselves when neither of those things happened. They'll act like that's not why they are seething but it is. They wanted to continue to make fun of WB/DC after their horrible blunders in 2016 but Wonder Woman ruined their fun.
Wonder Woman 2 will do much better overseas so I'm not concerned. Eh, I don't think WB's marketing for Wonder Woman was as good as their other films. It wasn't bad or close to it but it wasn't as good as their other films. They are lucky it's a good movie.
I'm sure the quality will be fine, I still don't see it doing huge numbers. People seem to prefer their heroes in live action. Lego Batman had great reviews and still only did 175mil.
I'm a huge Spider-Man fan but I have no interest in seeing the Animated Spider-Man movie sans Peter Parker in theaters.
I think people are way over predicting That animated Spider-Man movie. Nobody cares about Miles Morales and Sony does not know how to market their movies well. Plus Lego Batman was way over predicted by everyone and it had far more backup than the animated Spider-Man movie does by being a direct spin-off of a really popular movie.
I think they got that sort of talent behind Aquaman. Hopefully they save Justice League. And no I don't hate Snyder and liked Man of Steel but he's wrong for this Universe.
I understand being leery of people online who claim to have insider information but I don't understand being leery of EC? I've been a lurker on these boards forever and he seems legit to me.
Mockingjay Part 2 is a bad comparison. Two totally different times of year and one opened was 20 million more. But bad box office comparisons are par for the course for Box Office Mojo now.
I read the Twilight books and watched all of the films in theaters and liked watching them. That first Twilight movie is very poorly directed. I still hate this let a woman start a franchise and let a man direct the rest of the movies crap.
The first Transformers is a bad movie to me but it's watchable and the only well done movie in the franchise. It's the only one with a at least semi coherent plot and something resembling characters.
