Lots more discussion of AQP2 in my social circles than any movie since the pandemic started. Anecdotal obviously but Confidence is rising especially with case counts dropping down and down.

Disney has moved beyond what these other companies are trying to do - scale in the US market. They’ve got that and more (their market share in the US is above Netflix now and Churn is the best in the business - and a barrage of content is coming between all their production units. They’re focus now is to scale across the planet. In all likelihood They will begin a process of partnering and then acquiring local production units across Asia and Europe over the years. These companies are always available for purchase as we’ve seen now. If there’s an opportunity at a good price in the future they will make their move if it’s beneficial. as for WarnerDiscovery (?) reading the details of the deal show how bad a position the company will be in. HBO Max has not done well at all in its expansion hopes in the US, falling further and further behind in market share. They will now essentially have to sell a second launch or expansion in a matter of 2 years and the first one didn’t do much of anything. As for acquisition, any company that acquired inherits nearly 60 billion in debt. That is simply crazy and why this merger will fail sooner rather than later and why It will be piecemealed to the highest bidder over time.

If this is as good as stated I think they made a mistake not releasing near Christmas. I think it coulda done really well in the holiday season. Guess they don’t want to interfere with Spider-Man though.

Nope. And creatives are hardly the ones I’m talking about. They just got dumped by their parent company for a 60 billion dollar cut in valuation within a couple of years of their acquisition. This is nothing short of humiliating on any level as a company. And to make things worse, the MUCH smaller Discovery is essentially leading a takeover of you. They are calling the shots despite being worth far less. Simply embarrassing.

This shakedown of Warner has got to be the most embarrassing to happen in a media company in quite some time. They’re a laughingstock right now and the image will take work to build back up.

I suppose we will see now how much Apple cares about being a major player or just creating some solid content to keep people in the Apple bubble. I still don’t think Apple or Amazon are really in it to dictate Hollywood and putting up 200 billion for the purchase would be a really big departure from their current plays.

I really don’t think that’s the best way to go about it. The price points are way too different currently. Not to mention that it feel like a content dump that would just feel like they’re burying the content on Max with no further plans.

My goodness if another buyout happens with Warner, it’d be just comical at that point. This company been out through the ringer over the last 30 years lol. AOL, then AT&T, now a merger with Discovery...yikes. Morale must be at al all time low.

They’ll essentially have to IPO this market right? I see the valuation falling basically closer to Viacom’s valuation rather than Disney. Around 120B. Zaslav is the right move as well and definitely more playable to the board. He led a relatively successful merger between Scripps and Discovery and a solid launch of DTC

Question is, who leads the company as CEO? Id wager the board will want someone more experienced to take the reigns, so maybe they’ll install Zaslav instead of Kilar as CEO.

When is Ms. Marvel releasing. It would be neat to see them do the run up of Ms Marvel right into this movie. Also I think focusing on Monica/Kamala/Carol should be the movie. They can introduce another character in a future sequel

The father is like dead last in betting markets. Promising young women is on the outside looking at the big 3. Very very on the outside. Awards momentum is not the only thing. Social momentum is probably a much bigger influencer.

If anyone is winning on momentum it’s Minari

Might be by design. Oscars will still drive better ratings than anything that’s not nfl, and they’re in full throttle growth mode so ABCs ad revenue is immaterial
