So Dinsey is opeing New Mutants against a unknown DC film?

You would think Disney would wait to find out what the compejtion will be before doing that.

Unless, of course, they are dumping the film....which IMHO is the most likely scenario given NM's miserable history.

What DC film that hasn’t already been dated will be opening on that date? Nothing else has been in production long enough or even started filming to make that date.

  2. The issue isn’t expectations being subverted. The things that are happening were things that have been theorized for the past 2 years. It was either the NK is big bad, or he loses and they need to take Cersei out + plus Dany goes Mad Queen. It’s just that it’s all happening so fast and as a result, you have character acting stupid. Everything is so telegraphed that it looses the punch that made GOT must-watch TV. I only started watching because everyone around me was and I wanted to see how it would all end. At this point, I’d be all for them subverting my expectations. That’d actually make it more interesting than it is.

And I don’t buy that a large portion of the fan base is against GOT.  I feel like a lot of people just want it to be over. The excitement is gone. Doesn’t mean we won’t watch or we hate it, it’s just not as satisfying a conclusion as we hoped. It’s all just ‘fine’, when the hope was that it would be great.

  3. I really liked the last episode despite recognizing the flaws in some of the execution. Loved Arya killing the NK. And my biggest complaints were that I could barely see the battle and Cersei not getting a dose of the army of the dead.

This episode was pretty much crap. Didn’t have the suspense and excitement of the last episode or the character building moments of the first 2 episodes. Just a lot of stupidity all around. The best character of this season remains Arya. Sansa continues to sink lower. And that’s saying something because I started the season wanting Sansa on the throne. Everyone but Arya can die at this point for all I care.

  4. I thought it was pretty suspenseful and the most engaging episode yet this season. The obvious negatives were the lighting and the stupidity foisted upon some characters. I couldn’t see for most of that battle and thought it was my TV in particular until I checked Twitter and saw others had the same problem. I really thought Rhaegal was the one biting Viserion’s head, but then Jon drops to the ground. Just a lot of murkiness.

    Spoiler

As far as characters being stupid, the Inside the Episode revealed that Dany chose to go off on her dragon instead of waiting for the signal as planned. Wtf. Why would she ruin the plan that was meant to lure the NK. She ended up causing more casualties than necessary. Jon also helped there by trying to attack the NK ‘stealthily’. NK saw how stupid he was and didn’t even bother killing him, just raised the dead to do it for him and that lead to the death of others. Didn’t seem like NK would’ve done that if Jon hadn’t shown up. Sam was also completely useless in this episode and became a liability to others. Should’ve kept him in the crypts. I’m shocked he’s not dead.

The greatest part was Arya killing the NK. It was perfect, obvious, but perfect. I was annoyed about her sneaking/running about, but apparently it’s because of the head trauma she suffered. Understandable, I’d be terrified too.

It it was obvious that this episode would be finish off the NK/White Walkers plot and the show would move on to the Iron Throne battle. It’s predictable, but still good imo. I wasn’t really shocked by any of the deaths so far though so I guess they’re saving those for the end.

Yeah, I tried watching the first season few months ago... It just felt really boring

I watched the first season years ago and lost interest. Decided to watch all 7 seasons in prep for final season. It really doesn’t get exciting till Season 3 imo.

Fans, as in people who have seen a number of the other movies and want to see this one? Yes, who else?

ComScore claims 54% like the MCU, so yeah majority were fans.

    Quote

Fifty-four percent of those who watched Thanos and company last night said it’s part of a franchise they like, while close to a third said they’re going to see it a second time in a theater, with 27% saying they’ll buy the Russo Brothers-directed sequel on Blu-Ray.

  7. $350M

    $1.21B

    INSANITY!

And actuals are going to be higher. It’s all so ridiculous I’m almost feeling numb to it. I wasn’t here for The Avengers’ OW when it seems everyone realized these movies aren’t just going to make their $500-800m WW. I was for IW and that was bonkers. But this is on another level entirely. It’s straight up insane. A weekend I won’t forget. So glad I’ve been able to watch and follow these movies, culminating in the highest achievement at the box office for the MCU. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out over the next several weeks.

  8. Some of you need to relax. The movie is making an unprecedented amount of money this weekend. Enjoy it. All this bickering about what where it’ll end up is getting old fast. Sure, it’s not impossible for Endgame to beat TFA/Avatar, but it’s not easy or likely either. It’s actually very unlikely because the movie will be frontloaded, A+ CinemaScore/great GA, fan and critic reception. I definitely think it’s too early to make judgements about where it’ll end up. The way some of you are acting, it’ll be a disappointment at $800m/$2.5b...which is ridiculous.
