So great WOM, 400m locked? 1B WW possible?

Maybe if it opens wildly higher than expected. Hopefully it pulls a Jumanji, not necessarily with totals due, but more staying power than expected.

The RT audience rating (which I’m only curious about be of the new developments) has gone from 88% to 91% verified and 78% to 81% all audience. Hopefully the critics can go to 60%+ too. Cant watch it this weekend unfortunately, but I’m even more excited now.

emma watson can't sing but at least she's super famous. i have no idea what the excuse was when casting the leads of this one.

Guess they were counting on Will Smith’s popularity. But the Will Smith of the 2010s can’t open movies the way he did in the 90s-2000s. With the other leads, I know Naomi Scott isn’t Arab, but who’s as famous as Emma Watson that could also play an Arabian princess? Don’t know anyone I’d fancast for Aladdin either.

I hope this movie bombs, and (I'm so sorry, Jon Favreau) I hope "The Lion King" does too, so Disney reconsiders destroying "Mulan," "The Little Mermaid," and whatever else is in the pipeline.

Dislike the remakes all you want, but how are they destroying the originals? I truly don’t get the argument that the remakes make the originals worse. If it’s something you loved then, you’re still allowed to love it. It’s not like it’s a sequel that affects what was shown in the original.

The RT score doesn't live up the early reaction hype.....6.45/10 average score

That seems fine to me. Jumanji has 6.2 and 71% so this might end up similarly. It’s better than Dumbo at any rate. And the hype is about reactions being better than most expected, not that the movie is amazing.

Based on some of the posts in this thread, it seems like some were really hoping this bombed critically (unknown how it’ll do BO-wise) because of Godzilla? I could understand if it was because it’s yet another Disney remake, though that’s a pretty lame reason too.

Why is everyone in this thread literally ppl who hate disney live action films?

Can y'all gtfo and go to the franchise war thread or something?

    Sick of seeing your toxicity

If this was the Shazam! thread and someone kept shitting on BvS or JL or the Endgame thread, but all the complaints were about Ultron, it’d be annoying too and people would be called trolls for stirring the pot. But because it’s a live action remake, all bets are off and it’s okay.

Not saying people can’t state their opinion or criticize the movies, but doing so repeatedly when the same opinion has been thoroughly emphasized for the past 2 years is lame. Post about Aladdin and compare to BatB ‘17 if you want, then move on.

Everyone keeps complaining about Lordmandeep and his TLJ hate, which got old fast, but they don’t realize they do the same thing to certain movies.

They would have been better off GRRMing us after season 7 than airing this faceplant of a season.

At least there’s now a fun reading of the season where Bran’s ineffectiveness instead is brutal, cynical brilliance.

Yeah wtf was with Bran? He knew what was going to happen and let it go on so he’d be king? And now he’s after Drogon??! At least if he’d explained that it was to bring about a semi-clean slate and change up how rulers are chosen, but still. Just that line about how he came to KL to be chosen as king. He’s creeping up on Cersei as my least favorite character.

  7. I think the GOT finale will turn out fine. Just have to put yourself in the mindset that the previous episode made complete sense.

Can’t wait for BLL S2 though. Looks promising. Might rewatch S1 again. If all these upcoming shows are out of eligibility for this year’s Emmy’s, they’ll be competing with each other next year, which is more exciting than having 1 front runner. That’s assuming they’re all good to great.

  8. Wow. The Sun is Also a Star did less than 1/4th of Everything, Everything’s Friday. I don’t think it was marketed well. The early teasers didn’t give much of a story so it looked boring and it was too late by the time they started showing the more compelling stuff. Reviews don’t help either and I personally don’t think Yara is a good actress. Should’ve been a Netflix movie.

I also think even if the snap had been better handled, people would still be upset with Dany going to the dark side.

That’s possible, but the negativity wouldn’t be as loud as they are now. I also don’t think the season would be as divisive as it is if just Dany’s characterization was an issue. But most people have multiple major things they feel were poorly handled as evidenced by the increasingly vocal fan base for the past few weeks. Dany’s Mad Queen arc being rushed in this season just happens to be another thing to add to the pile. It’s fine if you’re enjoying it, but acting like it has no flaws is disingenuous. I honestly think if a couple more episodes were added, the discontent would be less. Because even if things didn’t end up being greatly satisfying, fans could at least say they tried to make it work. 6 episodes just isn’t enough to sell many people on what’s been happening so far.

It was an article that described every death that happened in the movie.  Everyone knows that the dog dies over and over in the movie, that bit is obvious.  Going into details is considered spoilers.

Right. I guess the specific wording in the link posted didn’t reveal anything, but it was clearly a review so it’s up to those who want to be spoiled to click on the link. It doesn’t really matter either way. I just thought bans were for posting direct/specific spoilers in the thread, not for posting review links that would obviously reveal spoilers. Now I know better and hopefully won’t make that mistake in the future.
