Twilight, @The Panda ___ So. I am so excited about this!!! The National Theater put up Danny Boyle’s production of Frankenstein with Johnny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch. The premise is that the lead actors switch the roles of the creature and Frankenstein every other night. So there’s two versions of it that are available for the next week and a half. I just watched the Cumberbatch as the creature And Miller as Frankenstein version. It’s stunning. Phenomenal. I am not a Cumberbatch fan and I was so compelled with everything he was doing on stage. It’s only two hours and it’s totally worth it. -
A League of Their Own is definitely about “sports” but it is Also about the daily struggles that women went through in World War II, And still kind of do today. There was issues about childcare, sexism, beauty standards, and even a scene that acknowledges the racism and privilege of the league. And all of the characters are super fun. And there’s a really great kind of sister dynamic and drama at the center. It is a great film. I think I watched it like every other day when I was 10.

I won’t lie. I struggled with this one a little. It was very frustrating that all of the movies about women seems to be more “period pieces” and “costume dramas”; Whereas all the movies about men were “serious historical films.” it’s almost like who’s in power gets to decide what stories are worth telling. So I tried to focus on as much non-violent, non-straight white male historical pieces as possible. With a few exceptions. I absolutely love how MASH is a war movie and the only gun that fires is during the start of the football game. In the battle of Algiers is just stunning feet of filmmaking. Absolutely stunning.

Exactly!!! And it’s not like they’re giving Chris Evans anything to do but be beautiful. -

I have been doing A LOT of jigsaw puzzles to reduce my screen/internet time during the pandemic, buuuut @filmlover @CJohn its Ryan Murphy Time!! Who is here for unabashed queer train wrecks. Just give me Patti LuPone in a fabulous dressing robe drinking every episode and I will be so easy to please right now. Or maybe not cause, omg Defending Jacob is such a chore. The color correction is trash. The set design of the house is still bothering me. And like, nothing is happening. -
That’s my QUUUUUUEEN

So. Obviously. I watched this last night: The technical difficulties in the first hour were so earnest and amazing. I felt like I was watching live theater again. (And made me want to go watch Noises Off.). I did not know I needed to hear Lin-Manuel Miranda singing Giants In The Sky but I clearly needed that in my life. and THEN ITS SOOOOOO TRUE. My audio on my feed was slightly off, so I heard Audra before I saw her and SCREAMED. -
Singin’ In The Rain is an excellent document Detailing the transition movie studios made from Silent movies just sound. Gene Kelly and the screen writers, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, did extensive research and interviews with silent film stars for movie. When the film first came out it was praised for its accuracy, particularly with the costumes at the fake movie premiere and the vibe of what the Hollywood factory looked like with multiple sets going on the same soundstage.

OK so I’ve watched all three episodes. Big takeaways, One the cinematography is ugly And I get that they’re trying to go for like some cold Scandinavian look or whatever but it’s terrible and generic and super boring. The square footage of the house’s exterior and interior do not match and it’s driving me up a wall. Also the stairs go in the wrong direction. In the hallway is too wide. None of the layout makes sense and it’s just making me angry. The whole upstairs is completely bonkers. I love Chris Evans so much. He does so much with his eyes. They’re beautiful. And his eyelashes are so long. It’s really criminal how beautiful He is. -

The cinematographer of Defending Jacob should be fined for crimes against humanity cause who the fuck looks at Chris Evans and decides to light him like that?!? -
I watched it for the first time in years a couple months ago and I was just floored at how scary relevant it felt to 2019. They’re talking about evolution versus Creationism, but they could easily just be talking about the growing anti-science movement on the far right. I also love the line when he’s talking about how you always have to give something up for progress: “the birds are a little less majestic and smell of gasoline.” HIGLY Recommend tracking this one down. Particularly if we’re about to do the best movies of all time, and everyone’s going to jump on the 12 Angry Men bandwagon.

Excuse you. Chris Evans is being hot and parental with a beard. **I** Care. and @filmlover lmfao. If you have not have tagged me, I totally would’ve forgotten about this. Because I don’t know what day it is anymore. I didn’t realize it was the 24th already 🤪🤪🤪🤪 -
