*** Two quick things about streaming. In theory, sounds amazing. Only: - I loaned my cousin my DVD collection (it was old, back when I bought physical media) cause she didn’t have the internet to watch those streaming services. Turns out she might or might not have misplaced the case. If she did, that’s a whole bunch of movies gone that aren’t on streaming anymore. It would be one thing if WB or Disney put up their entire library, but they don’t. - Is what they put up the unedited version? My friend was rewatching Alias on Disney+. Apparently, a bunch of the songs were swapped out cause they didn’t want to pay for them again. So who knows what they are gonna mess with. oh, and, right, how could I forget: the large corporations don’t want to play residuals out to anyone for streaming, so they randomly take shit off (i.e. Westworld) or give everyone but the show runner garbage rates.

I just sent a message to the mod chat “soooo what did I miss when I was almost dying last night” 😆

Just logged on for a second. We are definitely getting a 🥰 emoji cause I need it for you are. Back to box office. ATOM is showing the 10:30PM show of Avatar was cancelled at my IMAX. I’ll check in to see if they still kept the 730, cause I think that was the ones my friends are going to. But I would not be shocked if the late night number is coming really low because everything is closed early.

@ZeeSoh @Grebacio i’m staying at my parents, because the roads are going to be terrible tomorrow and it’s Christmas Eve so I figured I’ll just stay here. Plot twist, they apparently have a generator. Which my father is trying to get started. We’ll see if it works or not. Thankfully, losing power is not the end of the world up here. When I was out driving this afternoon, there is a bunch of trees and powerlines down. So I had already told my parents to keep their devices plugged in. And I just switched everyone over to battery saver mode. Which! Oh. He get on while I was typing this up. So at least we’ll have heat, even if everything else is still off so I’m definitely glad I made the right decision to stay at my parents. Because my house would be freezing if I lost power. It’s freezing even with power.

I miss her. Are me, @TalismanRing @BoxOfficeFangrl the only ones still standing? (hi @Sam @Claire of Themyscira @terrestrial 🥺) personally, I like the week threads. even when we were super busy, the weekdays threads tend to be smaller. that said, while I’m very excited this thread has hit 100 pages, I would gently remind people, without calling out their names, although you know who you are, that there is more than one thread on this forum. And some of the discussion about upcoming movies or television could have absolutely been posted on other parts of the Forum. Just sayin

There are only so many weekends in the year. And schedules have already been set. Moreover; this is literally a perfect storm scenario of unusual weather pattern affects ENTIRE country + XMas Eve on Sat and X Mas on Sun. So bad calendar and bad weather. There’s no reason to really course correct. If I was Disney, what I’d really be worried about is am I losing my window of interest? In this era of instant gratification, how long are people gonna wait for the PLFs and weather to clear up before they just say “eh, I will wait for Disney+”

The storm is only half the battle. The real bitch is the clean up. Up here in Maine, a foot of snow is another Tuesday. It’ll take a day plow and sand the roads. We’ll be back in business next day. Even when we lose power, the major metros get it back within like 24 hours, and the rural regions like 24-72 max. All standard stuff. Only imagine putting that on a region that doesn’t keep plow trucks and snowblowers as glorified toys. And then there’s the real secret sauce to mucking everything up: when places like Florida have a hurricane, or Texas had the cold freeze, and all the power went out, the utility workers and trucks rally: But if the entire country is dealing with this as the same time, it might take way longer for infrastructure to get fully back up and running, if everyone is running triage.
