  1. - Groot episode: super cute, totally harmless, will be eaten up like candy. - They announced they are doing a second season of another 5 episodes - Spider-Man: Freshman year is up next. Showing some art: —- AAAAAAH. AMADEUS CHO!!!!
  2. Marvel Animation Started - Special VO introduction from Jeffrey Wright - Brad Winderbaum has a super cool Watcher hat and I want it - talking about how animation is a gateway to comics and films. (so true!!! Love me my BTAS!!) - They showed a Ryan Meinerding Hype Video before bringing him out talking about how he was One Of The Most Important People in the Studio. (So they clearly got his memo he wanted more credit, since last Comic Con his booth was singing a different story). There was also SOO MUCH Cap iconography in the video. I lived. I loved. - I Am Groot is five shorts about his childhood. - Trailer is super cute. Very very very cutesy. - About to show “Groot takes a bath”
  3. Despite sometimes making truly truly whack choices, I do love that they try to use the big name panels to prop up some of the others. Animation Show of Shows was lovely, and showed in front of a full house cause it’s before Marvel Animation.
  4. tomorrow. It’s first up. They will be showing Black Adam, and TBD. also I am not at LOTRs. We’re watching the Animation Show of Shows before the Marvel Animation Panel ETA: apparently Hall H is walk in right now. Wiiiiiild.
  5. Depends. Marvel Studios is pretty much the only panels that do EXCLUSIVE footage. (It’s why everyone on the ground fights so hard to get in, and why it’s the prestige panel of the show.). I don’t know if they will do the same for their Animation Since this is the first year. I suspect it will all depend on when the shows are actually coming out.
  6. They showed another full clip from D&D. Again, this might not be for everyone, but it feels fun. Good campy fun. They said the VFX aren’t finished, and I am like “but why? The campy VFX of the dragon give it its charm.” I skipped out after that to go to Ghosts. My friend say the rest is all fan Q&A, and all awkward fan Q&A. Man legit asked if they would be Man legit asked if they would be using insert list of all the d&d villains stranger things has used. 💀
  7. HAHAHAHA The moderator said “in my notes I have that Hugh has been a life long D&D fan” Michelle: “I think you mean S&M?” LOOOOOOOOONG PAUSE with nervous/Loooool laughter Hugh: “She’s not wrong. I am an experienced Dungeon Master.”
  8. LMFAO. The video package they played at the beginning didn’t start. And was having tech issues. We clearly haven’t been here in three years. They showed a teaser BTS footage with some real footage mixed in. I won’t lie. I am here for this. It looks so campy. It kind of has that classic slick Artificial fantasy look. They also were showing off some cool practical effects with make up and creatures, and the real locations in Northern Ireland they filmed at. Fun Fact, Rege-Jean got the biggest pop from the crowd in the video. The also are talking about they have the Top VFX companies, including Legacy who gave us Baby Yoda, doing the project. So… let’s see how that goes. The story is apparently a very found family feel. Group of “people who shouldn’t be together learning to love each other. Chris Pine’s hair is AMAZING. He is also talking about how he did the project cause his nephew is a BIG fan and they ended up playing together and had a good time 🥺 Rege-Jean is talking about escapist fantasy, no limits, things you can find in real life. He also said he was the real life Eddie from Stranger Things in high school.
  9. basically this. I will say that The end of Get Out is what always gets me/makes me rank it higher. The cathartic dred/relief I felt was very, very real.
  10. i was but we just got tickets to the D&D off site at that time! we just arrived in Hall H for D&D, and then I am running off to Ghosts for my mom. Also I don’t know if it’s because it’s still Thursday, or it’s because I’m running on CBD, but the entire convention feels so chill this year compared to in the past couple years before Covid. There’s still space on the floor to walk around. It’s been really easy to get into lines into panels. It has a very old-school, pre-twilight feel to it. Because I’m wondering how many people chose to just get a refund, and didn’t come. Because they only did a small sale for 4 day badges this year. So attendance might just be down as a whole.
  11. tomrrow at 12PM est meanwhile, I don’t know who in the universe decided that I do not get to see CM punk live, but this is the third time there’s been a conflict of interest, and I’m starting to take it personal.
  12. I feel like I cannot control peoples expectations. They’re going to present what they’re going to present, and whether you think that’s disappointing or not, it’s on you! I just know they’re not gonna phone in it cause they never do 🤷‍♀️
  13. Re: The "Holding Things for D23" Thing -- That is **ALWAYS** the rumor. I've been hearing they're going to hold "the good stuff back" for D23 since at least 2015. That was the year they skipped altogether. So since then every two years we go through this "will that come, won't they come" charade. While I completely understand the temptation to skip, I'm also wary of this. From a Corporate POV I get it. Money, Control, My Fiefdom, Etc, Etc, Etc, They also have a full panel this year, which is new. So that is something to factor in. Cause it's either going to be 45minutes or 1hour of time to fill. But First, D23 and Comic Con are two VERY different events. D23 is far more Disney/Classic Disney/Corporate Disney focused in both its presentation and its attendees. There's folks who attend the Film Panels (that Star Wars and Marvel used to get rolled into) who have zero interest in Marvel, and don't want it there with their "Classic Disney Brand". Remember how the big buzz was for The Lion King and Mary Poppins in recent years coming off D23? It's just a different vibe. We'll see how this year goes because Star Wars and Marvel are getting their own panel, but in the past, eh. The other thing is that with D23 being a semi-lotto system in the past, and now going to a full lotto, you're not going to get the same fever pitch in that room. Which leads back to SDCC -- Marvel Studios and SDCC have a very symbiotic relationship. Baby Marvel showed up to SDCC with just RDJ and Stan for their first Iron Man panel, and it wasn't even the Marquee event. Now it is. It's almost like the size and explosion of SDCC in the 2010's ran parallel to Marvel's. So they're going to want to continue their domination, and they're not going to want to get shown up. I say this because when speaking with SDCC staff a couple years ago, we basically got confirmation that Marvel REFUSES to put their panel first on Saturday (despite the fact that would make everyone's life so so so so so much easy, because they always want to go LAST and steal the thunder/ride the hype wave out of the room.) The other thing about announcing things at Comic Con v D23 is the SDCC crowd is bonkers. Most have been in line for at least 48 hours. They're probably gotten into at least one fight over wristbands with the people around them. Most are punch drunk. There is a tangible buzz in that room, and they will scream and positive react to just about everything. My favorite moment EVER is when Kevin in 2018 casually mentioned "Skrulls" and the roof went off the place. So if they're worried that there's been a lukewarm response to Phase 4, or people are getting cranky, or we're seeing the clicks in the armor, this would be the time to announce everything, have people go NUTS, and then put on the reports that everything is fine! Our fans still love this! Whereas with D23, they LITERALLY take your phones, so there's no bombard of fancams of people screaming cause Kevin is on stage. IDK. I could be wrong. It's a brave new world. And I also can't judge what people find disappointing or not disappointing. I would not find Black Panther, She-Hulk, Holiday Special, The Marvels disappointing, with probably announcement of the F4 cast and a big screen with a bunch of titles on it. D23 will probably gets the Loki S2 footage, more The Marvels footage, and I would announce any new Disney+ show there. Cause remember, there's two phases to this. There is ANNOUCEMENTS and there is FOOTAGE. You can ANNOUNCE here, and not show footage until D23. Yeah, I thought it was 2, cause it's normally 2 to 2.5 hours. The hour this year is a first. Don't forget to put on Captain America: The Winter Soldier!!!
  14. WE SAW THEM ON SUNDAY AND THEY WERE AMAZING AND SO FUN AND IF NOT FOR SDCC I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN TICKETS TO THEIR TWO OTHER SHOWS THIS WEEK!!! 😍😍😍 @Eric the Tethered GENIUS.
  15. Their panel is only an hour this year. I would except not a lot from them. Probably 15 minutes or so of Black Adam, MAYBE Batgirl if they can find a work around from the Flash, and then like I said, I am hoping for Barbie But an hour feels like nothing, considering they’re normally 2 1/2 hours. So there’s definitely stuff that they are holding back and/or not bringing.
  16. I have been to Comic Con for a decade. I have been in Hall H on Saturday for a decade. In one day, I will actually stay for Kevin Smith panel. I always feel so bad, but even this year I can’t. I am thankful that he’s having the panel. It will allow me to get a bathroom pass, which will allow me to exit the hall faster so I can get over across the convention center to see AEW.
  17. OH MY GOD, WE'RE BACK AGAIN. It's been three years, and it feels like the world's ended about seven times, and everyone might've jumped on the doom and gloom Bullet Train, but LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOO, cause San Diego Comic Con is happening. LIVE. MASKED. AND IN PERSON. (We're all crazy and gonna die) FULL SCHEDULE HERE All times are PST/The section to be updated when I'm not crashed and burned after a day of cross country traveling. Thursday (Highlights) WWE/Mattel Panel D&D: Honor Amongst Thieves (12PM) Friday (Highlights) Lord Of The Rings: Power of the Rings Keanu Reeves Directors on Directing Saturday (Highlights) KEVIN K E V I N KEEEEEEEEEEVIN Sunday (Highlights) What We Do In The Shadows SNARK SNARK SNARK I will in San Diego all weekend. (When I'm not thinking I'm too old for this shit, and doing edibles by the pool.) This year will be really fascinating from inside the building. Apple TV is showing up For All Mankind, Mystic Quest, and Severance (I can't find the times), but Netflix is skipping all together. WB will still have their Saturday panel, but they're NOT hosting a booth on the exhibit hall floor for EITHER WB **OR** DC Comics. Which, frankly, is WILD. (Or them desperately trying to avoid talking about The Flash/Ezra). I know WarnerMedia doesn't give a shit about their publishing department, but this would be the event to as least PRETEND to care. I hope to GOD they bring Barbie to Hall H Saturday, or else it's gonna be like 2 hours of just Black Adam. And with the CW dead in a ditch, the Saturday Ballroom 20 CW Power Block is just.. gone. Like I said, it's been a LONG three years. Thankfully, we have Kevin. Who knows if the man's in the mood to stunt this year; but with Black Panther coming up, and The Marvels next year, and all those Fantastic Four and X-Men and YOUNG AVENGERS to announce, we'll see if he phones it in cause the good stuff's going to D23, or if he just mic drops on the plebs before going back into his Burbank bunker. (I just want Iman. Girl DESERVES to get a Comic Con welcome. DESERVES IT.) I'm going to try to hit up all the stuff I think BOT would be interested in. My schedule's super flexible this year (since SDCC hate me and put AEW and Marvel at the same time even though those are the ONLY two things I wanted to see. We're about haul ass across a convention center to see my wrestlers. I joke with my friend that I was gonna skip Marvel for Punk, and my friend ALMOST killed me.) So if there's something special you're looking for, hit me up. AND if you are HERE this weekend, let's hang.
  18. i love that when you quote this image is my Letterboxd with my favorite films shows up. like, yes, yes, make sure to put: Alien Beauty and the Beast (1991) Cabaret Captain America: The Winter Soldier Mildred Pierce The Searchers Singin’ In The Rain Sunset Blvd The Birdcage The Philadelphia Story On your lists folks!! Good movies!! We are actually on our way to Cabaret right now. We’re going to do a screening of it before we go see the Backstreet Boys tonight. (Thank Turning Red for that!! This is all cause of that soundtrack!!) Then I immediately turn around and get on a plane for SDCC. I get to see my friend I haven’t seen in three years. I want to cry. And after having one of the longest four weeks in my recent history, I am so excited to say that I am officially on vacation. I actually would really love to just like leave my phone, but I know that’s not actually feasibly possible. I thought I could’ve gotten away without talking my computer, but again, what a pipe dream I also will post the Comic Con thread on Tuesday.
  19. I mean, sure. It’s the WB SDCC Panel. All they do is over promise and under deliver. It’s a tradition!!! I will never forget the year that they pulled out the full screens and surround-sound set up, and flashed like a bunch of superhero logos as if they were going to develop all of them. And none of it as coming to fruition. Classic WB Panel. (And I’m in before you accuse me of trying to start a flame war. I’m specifically talking about the presentation that they do once a year at Comic Con. It’s garbage. It’s been garbage for 10 years.)
