47*2.6 would be 122, about 40% down from Us in tickets. It’s a solid enough result if it holds for the next few movies but not something you’d want to slide much farther from.

Yeah, I think the quality of connected stuff needs to turn around ASAP. That should be Feige’s #1 focus for the next few years at least. I also like getting quality nonMCU shows, sure, but may as well use them as a proving ground for lieutenants and such.

I’d rather he wasn’t, it’s a waste of time. Stretching yourself thin over an ambitious number of connected projects is one thing, but adding several unconnected projects on top of that seems like risk with no upside. For clarity — not necessarily saying these projects shouldn’t exist (maybe they’ll be perfectly enjoyable standalone things), just that they don’t really need much much time or involvement from the mcu architect considering there’s no connections to take care toward.

B isn’t good, even for horror. It’s not especially bad like it would be for blockbuster or kid though. Pretty medium. Expecting 2.5-2.7ish given summer weekdays and amount of th frontloading.

Yeah, I’m not saying that the people being racist isn’t a real dynamic too. I just feel it increasingly tends to distract and get used as a shield from legit criticism.

Also, gotta say it’s pretty weird that the first like… 7, 8, 8+(?) animation seasons from Marvel Studios aren’t even going to be MCU. If these follow the marvel studios tv quality so far I probably won’t even watch them since they don’t have any greater importance.

Studio midday nums all look a little low to me. Would ~kill 700 and make 45 tough for nope, but let’s see how things look with actuals.

Very tiresome dynamic nowadays where people can make shitty adaptational choices, racebend a few people, and when people complain about narrative choices a bunch of other people will pop up to insinuate that awkshually the complainers must be racist. I guess if you’re going to make a bunch of unneeded non racial changes, that means it’s now smart to do a few racial changes as well to cash in on this defensive dynamic. I wonder if anyone has done this deliberately yet.

I think 7*8 is pretty firmly on the optimistic side here. That’s would be about 21% down from Us nominal, 35% down admits. Quite plausible to instead miss 50M and be down 40%+ in admits. Stronger than I was expecting a few days ago, better than almost any nonIP horror can do right now, but not quite some Peele magic touch. -

I guess I will also note their weekly drop (to the d55-61 window): Avatar 34.5M, +6% (this was pres week) BP 8M, -39% NWH 11.3M, -10% (Super Bowl/valentines week) Frozen I have to redo entirely since it had 5 days of limited release I forgot about. D48-54 was 15M, added 4.57x. Following week: 15.5M, +3% (mlk mon) So most of those comps had a holiday immediately upcoming which is inflating their multi a bit. If TGM just drops like 22% then 20% it will still have a dicey road.

TGM last 7days (D48-54) is 20M. Same period: Avatar 32.5M, added 116M (3.57x) BP 13M, added 33M (2.54x) NWH 12.5M, added 54M (4.32x) Frozen 19M, added 82M (4.32x) TGM is 78M away, so it needs 3.9x — or if you want to pencil in 10M of expansion, just 3.4x. Clearly possible to hit, clearly possible to miss. Going to remain in limbo at least until bullet train wknd.

I am groot is coming in under a month, Holiday special in 5 months, and Gotg3 in 10 months. So not sure exactly how much will be revealed about what when, but the team/franchise broadly is going to be back in the spotlight a lot earlier and more gradually than just a Feb 1st trailer marketing start or whatnot.
