Mixed bag, and on the negative side imo. In the sense that SC did what I’d consider pretty well in most places but that “pretty well” leads to… a fairly small debut and OS total.

Meming around a little here but I do think people don't appreciate how big the MCU OWs were, even for the smaller movies. 55M in 2008 was actually pretty big.

I agree with EC here. Chapek can think what he wants and want what he wants in private, but he's not God over at Disney, he answers to a higher power. This is a big public success and it's gonna get covered as such. If he tries to send Eternals to day and date I think he'll spark a fight that he won't win.

BW during covid with no PA would have been not far from $120, so arguably the impact there is almost all PA very little pandemic per se.

Yeah, theatrical to free is just skipping a window for ??? reasons. Some kind of PA after a bit (maybe #20 after 45, maybe $30 a little sooner, maybe determine the timeline based on how big the movie’s, say 3rd weekend is) feel like such an obvious thing to experiment I’m shocked we haven’t seen it yet.
