Marvel with Oscar winners? Pretty random comparison.
You misread, as I suspected might be the case. I was comparing NWH to avengers and saying it wasn't comparable eternals

What kind of crappy comparison is this even?
Just what do you think is being compared with what here?

Possible, but the only places where I've seen IW outscore EG are online metrics and EG did outdo IW in most GA polling. Reception for both was strong enough that the discussion is sort of academic. Plus I hardly even care, they are practically tied at the top in terms of my MCU ranking.
Agreed with the last two sentences. As to the first, I think IW was hurt by people ending up with crying 6 year olds at the end.
Not to make everything about SW, but I expect IW's ending will lead to to age better like ESB.

My surprise level here is zero. Marvel isn't known for its track record with slower character/family movies following an Oscar win -- they're known for pulling off satisfying crossover megaevents which at first blush seem to have too many characters to flow well.
But I didn't really think it would matter BOwise of it got 55 and I don't really think reviews matter much if it gets more like 95 either.

IW was a bit more loved by the fanbase, EG did play a bit better for the general audience, probably because it was more cathartic.
I think IW is better liked by the GA too. Hard to measure though.

Spider-man kicking down the doors for the Dec 22 folk 🤔
If you buy into a repressed demand theory there is certainly plenty of 2021 repressed demand to have an over performing Dec 17, overperforming Spidey 2nd weekend+Dec 22 openers+other holdovers on Dec 24, and overperforming Dec 31st as well. Here's hoping.

Still surprised by how he liked Endgame though
Endgame is like 40% just people having character moments where they're sad.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Mendelson
Definitely not, no respect for that guys reviews or BO projections

Scott menzel is a pretty straight shooter who had given some negative reviews to marvel... Iirc. Maybe have confused with a different Scott or a different menzel.

Now that everyone getting pinged by this has an OW prediction, all you need for the DOM total contest is to pick a multi ;).

This pandemic vs pre-pandemic talk drives me absolutely nutty when the data suggests that IMs are pretty much unaffected, maybe actually higher than before if anything. NWH’s low IM will be because of fan buzz and 3PM

Deep Water going to streaming is depressing. Have fun with Kingsman 8 and Venom 10, I guess
How bad is the Nightmare Alley tracking? I assume that is another bomb
DW always looked like a streamer, guess they could have tried hybrid if they wanted to support theaters but it would do like 5M full run vs 8M if exclusive or some shit.
Kingman 3 looks floptacular, dead franchise. Don’t think Venom goes past 5.
NA certainly looks destined to bomb from the trailer and discussion around it, haven’t checked PS or anything.

Wow! Even I have to say that based on what our trackers are seeing, Deadline is really low. Don’t they have experts who can see the same data? Maybe they’re predicting that the movie will be extremely presales heavy due to the pandemic. I think some like baumer think the same thing. We’ll just have to wait and see. Will be exciting to see how things develop.
Deadline literally does not even try to release accurate predictions. It’s simply not a goal to begin with for them. There is a reason I have to repeat over and over that deadline/official tracking isn’t worth the pixels its displayed on.

Marry me to hybrid, deep water to pure streaming

Gotta say, days 4-17 on this calendar configuration look very interesting. Their should be a lot to discuss in terms of final total until a ways into the meat of the run.
Spider-Man: No Way Home | December 17, 2021 | The More Fun Stuff Version (yes, that's what it's called) comes to theaters September 2nd!

Not out of the question, always hard to nab that + of course vs merely a strong A.
Would be the 5th A+ from 4000+ wide release. All Disney produced superhero movies, all made DOM top 10, this would presumably continue the trend.
