  1. I think the ancestral plane will be crucial in this movie. We may even get SOME sort of T'Challa appearance there.
  2. Seems nothing is really stifling OW's of MCU films. Legs? Maybe, depending on reception overall. Those who are not in immediate need to see it in the first couple of weekends are just as well happy to wait for streaming. Even high RT scores wouldn't stop that. NWH was obviously Sony so it played by a different tune.
  3. If it is going to be someone outside of family bloodline, it would be Nakia or MAYBE Oyoko, but probably Nakia.
  4. Is it that there are rumors that Shuri is the new BP or is it just simply assumed? And I think we can forget about the surprise new T'Challa. It was one idea someone came up with and no more. I should never have posted it and regret doing so.
  5. Good, if they test ran this movie, they should put it out in November and keep BP2 until February to give it a few months more of polishing.
  6. Makes a lot of sense actually. He'd be the future of Wakanda and BP. The timeframe works. He won't become BP until at least 18. The emphasis could be on protecting him. NOt being blipped and having Nakia absent from the EG battle makes a ton of sense. Sure, we have an introdution to Ironheart/Riri, but she seems to be more on a different trajectory that may fit in better with Spiderman and Armor Wars. And setting up the future for the child to grow up would be a great story. By THEN they could recast T'Challa as an ancestor in the plane. And with the young avengers (Kamala, Kate, Riri, America, Eli Bradley) they are already planting the seeds, this would be a great tradition and addition. I'm totally down with it. He just would not have a big role at all in the movie if he is in this one. @interiorgatordecoratoryes it was. The culture, representation, world building, social issues...those were all groundbreaking for a superhero movie and fantasy movie in general.
  7. Personally, I think a symbolic T'Challa as a live Black Panther "guardian" would be cool. Probably not popular to others, but I like the idea. We see them in the ancestral plane. I also imagine they will do emotional speech(es) about T'Challa, what he represented, and who he would have wanted to do (such as make peace with Namor) which will lead to a union of the two forces against Attuma.
  8. I wouldn't even put it as anything more than just an idea someone had. I shouldn't even use the word rumor. A T'challa child is a rumor. But it hasn't been brought up in a while so who knows. Personally, I think THAT would be a great choice (and could explain Nakia's absence in the final EG battle-she's off protecting the child in an indisclosed place (both having NOT been blipped.
  9. Bad reviews for BPWK would look much worse than it would for other movies getting bad reviews. It would look worse for Eternals coming off of Chloe's previous "Nomad" because they were completely different films. People know how competent Coogler is (despite lack of volume release). They know his passion for relevant content. Coming off of a superhero movie that was SO different than anything else in genre would look horrible with bad reviews or, quite possibly, even with mixed or average views. Critics (and most viewers) don't take into consideration the horrible time constraints and losses of beloved actors when evaulating films. Even if the film is an amazing action film with tremendous world building and tear-jerking emotional tribute to Chadwick in a way that his the feels and sentiment, there will be TONS of viewers (or sadly non-viewers) who review and obsess with the idea that they should have recast T'Challa. I read one person theorize that maybe T'Challa is missing or incapacitated somehow, but comes in as a credit scene having been recast to our surprise. That would be interesting.
  10. Not if the OW is less than $130 million. Or at least I doubt it. It's going to have to have TGM type legs in order to avoid a 45-day D+ release (although they MAY wait until right after the Labor Day holiday).
  11. MCU will never be in trouble as long as theaters exist. Besides a few outliers (like TGM), the MCU is generating a large portion of revenue for theaters. It's more about what each movie does to its own franchise. Lightyear hasn't put a dent into Pixar, but Toy Story spin-offs may be relegated to D+. Solo hurt theatrical releases of SW anthology films Etc. What I wonder is how critics would view a decent movie despite not having recast Chadwick. That will end up being the BIGGEST controversy of this film. A movie like BP can stand on its own without HAVING to be integrated into the overall MCU. They could have T'Challa's son in this one be between 8-10 years old and have the next movie take place in several years and make the son the new BP. Lots of ways they can go with it.
  12. Leticia was always the scientifici/engineering type (in the movies at least, and that is what we are talking about). Maybe she would be queen, but maybe she isn't or backs away from becoming the BP. I'd much prefer Nakia. Lupita would be better. They could have gotten married off screen. And wasn't there a rumor that there will be a child from the two?
  13. True. NWH had 3 spideys for the price of one. BP2 will have to stand on the concept of BP rather than BP itself. It will have to be looked at through the lens of how it honors the lack of BP and Chadwick rather than the character and actor. This is a challenge that perhaps no other film has ever had.
  14. I had asked a question about post-production a while back. The question was weather they may have actually started post production before the hiatus from November to January. They started filming last June. Then in August, Leticia had her accident. They filmed some other scenes without Letiticia until November allegedly. Then they went on haitus until January. Is it possible they did a bunch of post work between November and January? If so, it would add up to the same amount of post-production as the first movie. Surely the powers that be realize that Antman3, which concluded filming in November, 2021, would be ready for release MUCH earlier than BP2. They could easily have released Ant3 this November and pushed BP2 to February, 2023, making it the same release date and 5 years later than the first. If things don't work well, I put 100% blame on Disney executives. I can't even imagine Feige going along with it readily.
  15. I understand your fears. I have the same feelings as well. However, I have faith in Coogler for being so passionate and being so close to Chadwick that he wants to pay tribute. This movie has had more going against it than probably any other MCU movie and it seems that it was Disney execs that forced Feige and Coogler to keep it in 2022. However, until we start seeing more substance, there's no reason not to think/hope that they will do this justice.
  16. For DS2, it was seen as somewhat of an extension of No Way Home (with Strange and the multiverse) so it made sense. For Thor LT, it was already so close to release so they couldn't not have something in front of DS2, For BP2, there's no direct tie-in with Thor (that I know of) and there are still 4 months. SDCC works nicely. There's also no major Disney release from Thor until BP2 so it has all of the marketing time for itself.
  17. Someone would have heard about it by now. Also, it has been stated that Feige/MCU is going to bring it on hard with ONE movie at SDCC (which is obviously BP2). So while it is possible for them to have a teaser this week with more goodies at SDCC, I'd say it is more likely to have it all at SDCC. No rule that says they HAVE to have a teaser in time in front of the previous film.
  18. How many characters is this movie going to have? I guess it can't be worse than "somehow Killmonger survived".
  19. Now that there is a hint of another villain, I stand by my prediction of a plot where Atlantis and Wakanda are pitted against each other and then come together to fight Attuma Matata.
  20. CRAP!!!!! I did it again and f@#$%ed up my post. (I have not been feeling well-excuses excuses). I meant that I can see it MAKING 70% of the first one. Maybe even slightly less. It depends on reactions and how receptive people are to not having the actual title character. @ViktorLosAngelesI'm not worried about the lack of hype. Sure, No Way Home had TONS of hype before 4 months. But Thor4 had NO hype before 2-3 months. After Thor gets time to stretch its legs, it's going to be ALL about Black Panther 2. The reception will be the key, not the pre-teaser hype.
  21. BP2 placed at #1 on Fandango earlier this year. This is precedent because not only did we lose the main title character actor, but there won't be the main title character at all. Has this ever been done before? We've never had a James Bond movie without James Bond or an Indiana Jones movie without Indiana Jones. There may still be people out there who still expect someone else to be playing T'Challa. I can definitely see a 70+% drop from the first one. I have a feeling it's going to be crushed by critics.
