I have a pretty easy taste for sci-fi (maybe movies in general), loving both the quirky colorful stuff and the doom & gloom from Denis Villeneuve. I'm glad that i'm that way because i get to experience and enjoy so many different styles and spectrums of emotion. The only movie in recent memories i found hard to sat through was Transformers 5 (childhood franchise). It was just noises and pixels. Real nausea.
Other than that, i just wish that there are more movies that are fully committed in its style and not having any compromises just for the sake of checking boxes.
I'm pretty sure if Denis didn't get pressure after BR2049, he isn't going to get any with Dune Part 2. He's the kind of dude that do whatever he thinks is right, and so far, it's working.
🍅 CRITICS CONSENSUS
"An ambitious superhero epic that soars as often as it strains, Eternals takes the MCU in intriguing -- and occasionally confounding -- new directions."
LOL what's next, "soars less often than it strains"?
Should settle for 375M when it's all said and done. Solid result, matching Black Widow despite being free on HBO Max. I'd love to see Part 2 doubling to 750M.
to be honest i'm not even mad this situation is funny as hell, we went from Oscar statue to Rotten Tomatoes for real. From 100 to zero in an instant. Poor MCU, that invincible streak finally ended.
I can relate. After Dune i've rechecked most movies in my hard drive and i can't really think of more than a handful of movies i want to rewatch over and over again like this.
The movie is scheduled for the New Year weekend in Vietnam. Will be a 4 days holiday weekend. All pandemic restrictions should be lifted by then. Could add ~2m total i think, despite piracy problem.
Overseas for Part 2 could land from 400-500m i think. Dom maybe 200-300m. WW 600-750m.
It seems that Part 2 annoucement was very well-received everywhere. In my country, people were posting news about Dune 2 on a DC fanpage lol. In just 21 hours, the annoucement on r/movies is already the most upvoted post of the year and 19th all-time with 103k. Could come close to the top 10 which are mostly people dying.
Asia can get a boost since a lot of cinemas in SEA countries are closed during this time. Maybe not much but there will be, especially if Part 2 has as much actions as Villeneuve is promising.
Villeneuve said Part 1 already laid out the ground work, now he can just go bananas (that's not a quote) with what he called "a cinematic party" in Part 2. Expecting lots of cinematic actions and less people talking (that's a quote).
kind of intrigued to see Denis Villeneuve go full action mode lol, Nolan is not too good at that.
Been rewatching the movie scenes after scenes since yesterday. This thing is god damn glorious, even on just a 2K monitor and a pair of earbuds i have at home (no theaters open due to restrictions for months now, no Max either). Will definitely watch it again in theaters, IMAX preferably, if possible.
