Looks like D&D came in at $5.5 and passed Air for the #5 spot, nice.

Finally some good legs for some of these. Maybe a bit too late for DnD to hit $100m DOM tho right? Looks more like $95ish total. Should be another good drop next weekend but then GOTG will knock it out, even if that underperforms
Theater drop should be minimal, Renfield and Pope will bleed more.

Based on reactions/WOM, I'm very much getting Tree of Life vibes from Beau
I wouldn’t be surprised by a H at this rate
-
If my math is correct, this is the second best second weekend drop for a $100m+ opener, behind only Top Gun Maverick.
it narrowly beats weekend 2 of Spider-Man (2002)

Huge 2nd Saturday numbers mean huge following weekends.
Likely looking at around 50 million 3rd weekend I think
Chris Pratt has a stranglehold on #1 until Fast X.

Not as big as shaazam
Still too early to write off D&D, the drop honestly could have been worse, WOM is good and Par won’t give up on the IP, there’s still a franchise here, they know they got unlucky.

So a jump from 9.8 true Friday to 13.1 Saturday is pretty good actually.

it is over indexing big time. Good news is that means US will under index a bit. I am not seeing true friday that is different from Deadline estimates. Hope I am wrong.
The big conventions in Orlando and Chicago probably had a small effect, seems like once the cons wrapped for the day the business picked up at the theaters.
-
Nothing is doing very well in Orlando right now, because MegaCon is in town.
Several of the theaters are nearish the convention center, most of the DND shows are fairly empty, but so is Wick and everything else.
Dnd is doing better at Disney Springs, especially in Dolby and Dine In

It’s a shame, S2 is better than Black Adam and on par with Shazam 1.

1>3>5>4>2
3 has grown in retrospect, especially when you realize that the movie is calling Harvey Weinstein out right under his nose.- 1

I don’t get the hate, thought it was terrific, might end up in my top 10 MCUs

Avatar keeping most of the PLFs this deep into the run should have been a bad sign.
For real, I love the Dolby but I’ve only gotten to see two movies in it the last ten or so weeks, and I’m sure people feel the same.

1. Sing $270,395,425
2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding $241,438,208
3. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel $219,614,612
4. Alvin and the Chipmunks $217,326,974
5. A Star Is Born $215,288,866
6. Sherlock Holmes $209,028,679
7. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me $206,040,086
8. World War Z $202,359,711
8 of them already above $200m, if that’s where PIB2 is headed.
Sometimes I foget just how big a hit A Star Is Born was. Wow. Love that film. I actually contributed to that US gross because I went to see it on holiday in Miami.
Austin shouldn’t be in there, seems to be an error, they have it opening to $17 million when it actually opened over $50 million and it definitely was #1 for a week.

Dreamworks has got to be thrilled that Puss In Boots 2 is going to beat Lightyear domestically.
They've quietly had a good run in recent years.

Disney Springs report
The 7:30 Babylon in Dine In has sold 18 seats
The 8:00 Violent Night in Dine In has sold 35 seats
-
I see the Violent Night estimate for Sunday updated and it jumped back ahead of BP for the day and the weekend.
-
Maybe if almost everything in theaters now wasn’t at least somewhat downbeat.
Even Puss in Boots is about dealing with mortality.
Is Violent Night the most upbeat movie out there right now? -
As of 6pm at Disney Springs…
Babylon had four shows remaining, with 66 seats sold.
Whitney had 4 shows remaining, with 46 seats sold.
Violent Night had 2 shows remaining, with 51 seats sold.

The fact that it went up on Tuesday when Avatar1 went down 2% on its first Tuesday is a pretty good sign, right?

Empire of Light was the smallest crowd I've seen for an opening night/new release while here in NYC. It was the 7pm show at the premiere AMC and it basically looked like a bus stop. These numbers are going to be tragic
As of midnight at Disney Springs, Light had sold 18 tickets for Saturday, as many as Maverick and two fewer than Polar Express.
as of right now:
Empire: 24
Maverick: 28
Polar 31
could be worse, Father Stu has three empty showtimes and the other has five sold
-
As of right now, Empire of Light has sold a total of 18 tickets for Tomorrow at Disney Springs.
So has Top Gun Maverick.
Polar Express has sold 20.

She seems to be giving a good performance, but, at least in the first trailer, the lip syncing is terrible.
