  3. 393mn plus full run of $2.8Bn for ATP of $7.12. First weekend ATP shall be $7.5 range giving it 164mn range admission. Other way is to do count, China: 42.9mn USA: 31.7mn Mexico: 9.4mn India: 8.5mn South Korea: 6.3mn Brazil: 5.5mn UK: 5mn Rest: 55mn Total: 163.8mn This includes Wednesday & Thursday of many countries. A pure FSS will be USA: 31.7mn China: 23mn Mexico: 9.4mn India: 8.5mn South Korea: 5mn Brazil: 4mn UK: 3.7mn Rest: 36mn Total: 120.6mn
  4. Ohh JP has listed it separetely, I thought it had only one release. That will be the case throughout Europe I guess, but that still feels odd. Also since Euro started only in late 90s, how do they make equivalence to years before that? But I can live with 350-375mn Approx admissions, as in USA did $200mn roughly with 160mn admits, Europe which is more or less same as USA, could have done $200mn with 200mn admits. BTW, for 2001 release and 1mn admits, €1mn is really less.
  5. As per Corpse, GWTW had 3.4mn admits. 190mn Yen would be $0.6mn Approx.
  6. An Indian film released during same period in USSR and China, Awaara is said to have 100mn viewership in USSR grossing $17mn while in China $9mn with 100mn viewership. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awaara
  7. I honestly don't believe Australia 39mn figure. That's some BS. Also GWTW North America numbers are close to 160mn. Europe seems about right. France with 40mn population had 15mn viewers. Germany with 68mn population has 13mn viewers while UK with 50mn population is said to be 35mn but as is case with all BFI numbers, that number is some BS, may be reality was close to 20mn. So in 158mn population countries it had 48mn Approx viewership. Not counting USSR, Europe had 300mn population in 1950s, which shall have the film around 90mn perhaps. Now USSR donno how big it was or whether the film even released there. The problem I am not able to understand is that where did GWTW grossed $200mn internationally. The ATP in Germany was equivalent to 0.45 euro in 1950, which roughly give $7mn Approx gross. Similarily UK I can go at max $12mn using 20mn admissions.
  8. Over a billion dollar for Avatar is from Europe. I don't think any film could possibly beat that figure. Overall $1.82 Billion can be crossed in future with growth of Asia, look out for (Saudi Arabia) but Europe will always stand. For beating that, you need atleast 130mn footfalls with current ER and sort of ticket prices, which, well are next to impossible as Titanic is the one at peak with 115mn. Even Avatar at current ER and ticket rates will be around 70% of what it did in 2009.
  9. Since it is an admissions thread, I will go with just admissions. Gross wise 2000s and early 2010s films will have edge due to Exchange rates and inflation is very low. e.g. The top most watched films in Europe since 1997. Before that numbers could be bigger, original Star Wars perhaps reaching 55-60mn. E.T. could be 70mn plus. There were Indian films doing 50mn plus admissions in USSR so there's really no point going there. Titanic: 115mn Avatar: 93mn The Lion King: 66mn SW: TFA: 65mn LoTR: FotR: 64mn HP&TPS: 64mn LoTR:TT: 59mn LoTR:RotK: 59mn Avengers: Endgame: 58mn HP&TCoS: 55mn
  10. This should be pretty relevant for this thread. Assuming, we don't see a major drop in admissions for Avatar 2 from the original, which is frankly pretty unlikely. As you see, Toy Story is an established property, so it has pretty much eased itself in last 20 years, Avatar easing off will be much higher. Avatar grossed $685 million in these five countries, the sequel should target $375 million I guess. Overall Europe was $1.2 Billion, I will be very surprised if 2nd cross $700mn.
  11. With just 4% decline in admissions, the box office in Europe's Big 5 decreased 31%, thanks to 3D decline and Exchange rates. Toy Story 3 Toy Story 4 Gross Admits ATP Normal ATP Ratio Gross Admits ATP Normal ATP Ratio Germany €12,350,000 1,591,518 €7.76 €7.27 1.07 €6,562,627 896,430 €7.32 €8.63 0.85 Spain €24,985,715 3,625,033 €6.89 €6.35 1.09 €22,086,000 3,881,527 €5.69 €7.00 0.81 Italy €13,500,000 1,688,694 €7.99 €6.41 1.25 €6,800,000 1,022,066 €6.65 €6.45 1.03 France €32,000,000 4,353,253 €7.35 €6.33 1.16 €27,250,000 4,599,944 €5.92 €6.60 0.90 UK £73,791,000 10,500,000 €7.03 £5.95 1.18 £66,190,000 10,400,000 €6.36 £7.11 0.90 Total $219,724,249 21,758,498 $10.10 $153,185,396 20,799,967 $7.36
  12. Yeah that's nice filter @peludo and should see the Europe heavy films to be in top, Potter, LoTR, Avengers (strong Asia, Latin America & good Europe). Joker will be there too. The top 4 will mostly be same but a slight change in order Titanic: 238mn (First run 226mn) Avengers: Endgame: 223mn Avatar: 189mn Avengers: Infinity War: 170mn The Lion King (2019): 166mn Frozen 2: 134mn Furious 7 will be there, surprisingly at 125mn. The Avengers will be around 116mn. LoTR 3 will be 110mn and most likely Fellowship would be around that. Potter 1 may be close to that number as well. ET should be around 120mn.
  13. China: $848mn Wolf Warrior 2 (But this includes ticket booking charges, without that $794mn) USA: $839mn Star Wars: The Force Awakens Japan: $250mn Frozen India: $209mn Baahubali 2
  14. it used to be share (rental) and gross prior to 2000. in fact in telugu industry share is still the figure they track. indian box office though complicated on outside view is pretty comprehensive when you are into it.

  17. I meant by the numbers it did. I honestly have never came across one Shrek reference except Prince charming & Puss gif till date. That makes me even more surprised on numbers it did, more admits in a weekend than any potter film except may be first one.
  18. UAE Weekend admits since reopening May 27-30: 4571 admits (4 Days) June 04-06: 4563 admits June 11-13: 4273 admits June 18-20: 6240 admits The last weekend before closing had 86,186 admits, usually a weekend can go as high as 200k admits in normal weekend, so currently at 3% of the normal potential.

  20. So I watched Shrek 2 finally and still don't get the hype. I mean, yeah it's quite good 5/10 movie, may be strech to 6/10 but, don't understand the hype around it.
  21. Week 11 13-19 June 2020 My Sassy Girl: Found it highly overrated. Neither the humor works nor the romantic part is really great with overall story being weak too. 3/10 The Fool: Excellent. When a common man tries to help a collapsing building, faces corruption and hopelessness, he just stand there as a Fool. Must watch. 8/10. Blue Is The Warmest Colour: 15 minutes of film followed by short porn clip, that's what goes in this 3 hour long film with boring characters and boring life. The first and second sex was good, after that even sex gets boring. I think the film might have connected well in 2 hour runtime trimming all sex scenes. They barely add anything to film but break flow of it. 2/10. Artemis Fowl: So watched it even after the shitty reviews and it wasn't that bad till half time or so but the final act is a giant turd. Anyhow the film at most times feels rushed with no development of characters. 3/10. Movie of the Week: The Fool
  22. So we have France at 16mn and Germany at 13mn. UK 35mn is by BFI which are basically useless. Might be around 20mn. Australia numbers are too big to be true. 38mn. What am not able to understand is the fact where did it gross $200mn overseas when even after 25 years later Star Wars grossed $195mn and it do have really good Europe numbers, even Japan and Australia.
  23. Other than Spirited Away, found all others just not my cup of tea. Didn't like Neighbour Totoro, Ponoyo felt too childish, Princess Monoke was good in start then donno what happened. Howl's Moving Castle same problem but still ok.
