As in returns compared to gross are very very (very) low, not nada/zero though. Dangal grossed $175 million in China but it barely gave $1 million to Indian studio. There were reports of some overflows being shared in the tune of $15 million, but not sure how much true.

They won't get 25% of ticket booking cost, so it would be $258mn approx to break even. Then there will be some sort of GST/VAT as well, if 25% is on pure Net then the number rises ever higher to $270mn, not sure about latter tho. Calculation: $60mn/25% = $240mn Net $240mn + 5% GST/VAT = $252mn Gross $252mn + 7% Average Ticketing Cost: $270mn Reported Gross. PS. Its idiotic to add Ticket Booking Charges to Gross. What next? In India the leggiest film ever is Hum Aapke Hai Kaun in 1994. Had opening day Gross of $40k Approx, finaled at $33 million. Following is week wise Net of HAHK and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). Net = Gross - Tax. Not only the run of Hum Aapke Hai Kaun was leggy but it also beat the previous All Time Grosser Sholay (Biggest box office Hit in India of all time with over 250 million admissions). It's saying a film gross $1.8 Billion in USA today with $6.5mn weekend, trending much better than Titanic. The actuals may vary +/- 10%.

Baahubali 2 is bigger in India and traditional overseas markets. Dangal is bigger in China and Worldwide.
