  1. Interesting if it's starting to accelerate already. Trend does seem there for both Thursday and Friday. Although it seems opposite of Denver lol.
  2. The post that sparked this discussion was predicated on No Way Home moving to 2022. Otherwise it is clearly the overwhelming favorite.
  3. It's possible but I would favor Eternals, Venom 2, and Bond to surpass it. Trailer wise Eternals second trailer is doing much better, and generally those comparisons work within the franchise. F9's final WW gross will be a nontrivial bar as well.
  4. I have been using just ticket numbers for a while now. I think using proper genre comps will eliminate most of the ATP difference.
  5. Shang-Chi MTC2 Thursday Showtimes: 1945 (+5) Seats Sold: 14385/320782 (+1987) Friday Showtimes: 4008 (+9) Seats Sold: 10068/673462 (+1240) Saturday Showtimes: 4203 Seats Sold: 7318/706892 As I said earlier I am taking a break for a while, will update numbers on Sunday 8/28.
  6. So... after 24 hours Marvel US YouTube: 11.8M Marvel US Twitter: 9.2M Marvel US Facebook: 11M Total: 32M views This movie is a smash, it's beating all the other solo MCU movies and the reception is much better than was on teaser [on YT, the trailer has 95% of likes and just 5% of dislikes]. I hope Marvel drop the overall trailer numbers, i think it could be easily in the 50-60's million views, excellent for a second trailer. @ThomasNicole posted this in the CM trailer 2 thread. So it seems to be somewhat below on YT and Twitter and definitely lower on FB. Still seems quite impressive for characters that have never appeared or been teased. I mean it's not really that far off CM here.
  7. Shang-Chi MTC2 Note: showtime numbers are affected by Cinemark's change in the way they handle DBOX screenings. Sales numbers may also be affected. So don't take the daily pace too seriously yet. Thursday: Showings: 1940 (-114) Seats Sold: 12408/320677 (+2130) Idk. Paw Patrol MTC2 Friday: Showings: 1933 (+32) Seats Sold: 17989/240940 (+4219) It's strong in isolation but this seems to be massively overindexing in MTC2. Edit: Looking at Friday partial numbers, I think there is some effect from the DBOX change. Will investigate more tomorrow.
  8. Guess I'm gonna have to mute this on Twitter and other social media. But man these reactions have me hyped.
  9. After getting over the hype of the ending, I think this is my least favorite of the 3 completed D+ shows and not particularly great overall, though it is entertaining scene-to-scene, the larger arc falls very flat. A lot of the secondary characters (Sylvie, Mobius, Kang, Ravenna, old Loki) were really strong, but the show just really fails its lead. His character arc is clunkily speedrun in the first episode and then he is put into an unconvincing and underdeveloped romance. By the end he has lost much of his unique charm and feels like any random superhero despite the energy that Hiddleston puts into the role. And then the timeline stuff was so unconvincing that it managed to break my suspension of disbelief (which normally is pretty hard to do). Out of all MCU content probably only beats Dark World and Iron Man 2 for me.
  10. I had two issues with the third act of BW, the first being that they were trying to go big but it still felt really mundane and rote (I always want movies to really commit when they decide to go big), and the second (and more important) that the emotional resolutions were either not present or very rushed. My hope for Shang-Chi is that they just lean into that glorious fantasy chaos and throw everything on the screen. As long as the emotional resolutions land that will be good for me.
  11. Paw Patrol MTC2 Friday Showtimes: 1901 (+543) Seats Sold: 13770/236226 (+4349) Data as of last night. Make of it what you will.
  12. That second reaction seems like praise to me. I have seen a couple of reactions that praise the third act for being bonkers and several that criticize it for being a mess. Sounds like it will be interesting to watch at least.
  13. Shang-Chi MTC2 Thursday: Showings: 2054 (+0) Seats Sold: 10278/326358 (+2570) Friday: Showings: 4281 Seats Sold: 6507/685010 (+1559) Healthy second day, expected given the short PS run and the reactions/premiere. The +/- numbers are from a run which I did around the same time yesterday which I did not post. I forgot to press Enter on my Paw Patrol run, will post the number tomorrow morning.
  14. I don't view it as terrible. I looked through it and there were some rankings I thought were crazy and some that were expected and some that were surprising but I agreed with. I find it interesting to see where the deviations are.
  15. I don't buy the whole concept of good and bad taste anyway. I don't agree with that list but it doesn't mean it's anything bad or wrong in having those opinions. Everyone's taste is different which is what makes talking about movies interesting in the first place.
  16. A list made by a few people (especially a few critics) likely won't. And I don't really think having different opinions on the relative quality of the series makes the review any more or less valid. Yeah, this will likely be a hit with general audiences -- it's a well-reviewed Marvel movie. We don't need to analyze the list to know that.
  17. I mean it's just a ranking, people have different opinions, I don't see the big deal. Also it seems like it was a combined ranking of the staff from what I read in the article?
  18. For me it is a relief that the major complaint of more mixed/negative reactions is "too much CGI". Personally I don't ever care about that as long as it looks cool. I am feeling fairly confident that I will like this one a lot.
  19. More negative reactions come out after the premiere which is normal. Unless you were expecting like 95+ RT for this, it isn't of much concern.
