From what I'm seeing near me, it appears really random which theatres have it available for sale. It's still only in two theatres in my area that I can see, and still only starting the Friday.

We'll need to wait until tonight untill it shows up consistently for Thursday previews. At least I'm hoping. Given how bizarre the treatment has been, I won't rule out something else weird hitting us.

This has been a busier week than I was anticipating for me personally, otherwise, I might have attempted a manual count track for this, but not sure I can. I might just try and track showtimes at least.

Same here. Looking at Toronto locations only two locations right now, and they are arent at some of the bigger (Yorkdale, Scotia, Yonge and Dundas) like they usually are. Hopefully we see more pop up. But yea its hard to track when the ones I track arent doing the presales

FNAF is finally starting to go up with full advance sale treatment. Only a few places have it up so far, but they're already selling well.

    Nothing on Wish or Trolls.

Edit: I just noticed that the sales are only available starting the Friday. There's no Thursday showtimes up yet.

Its such a joy sometimes dealing with Canadian box office stuff isnt it?

    :bash:

edit I really do enjoy doing the counts :) But man they make it......interesting sometimes.....

  3. Slowly gearing back up now to getting some more numbers, finding a balance between on and off puter things. Its still a bit sticky  and just trying to do whatever I can.

As for the whole "dbox/non dbox seats"-Im musingwith my counts just keeping a separate track of total "dbox" seats and "non dbox" with the two seat totals obviously coming to total seat amount.

That might be something slowly worked in though over time, still just easing my way back in here.

Wish also not released yet is an odd one as well.

We can't call two data points a trend, as Canada has always been very different for timing on these things. But it feels odd.

I probably should do a better job of documenting which movies get different sale dates in Canada compared to the US and how much they're delayed. It would be interesting to see if there's any patterns.

It would certainly be an interesting perspective. Its always a bit of a challenge when US says "tickets on sale now!" and Canada is like ".....nahhhh". I worked for a Canadian theatre many many moons ago, just usual floor stuff. Still was an insight to see how my managers were always kind of talking/haggling/trying to figure out how many shows they would get, how long a run ect (and this was LONG before Pre-sales were ever a thing). Also there might be different negotiations for films for Canada from US from same Studio.

EDIT: FNAF just hit for presales for Cineplex

EDIT 2: Give it some time as there is barely any theatres showing, so Ill probably take a look tomorrow where we should start seeing a more reliable amount-Wed probably even more as thats when they like doing their adding of volume.

Still no FNAF tickets for sale in Canada yet. Unless they do it in the next 24 hours, it's going to be just normal release, with Thursday previews being available sometime tomorrow evening. Only bigger recent film that's got this treatment with no advance sales was Saw X, which obviously opened much lower.

Wish still isn't available either, despite today being that 100 year anniver date.

I definitely thought FNAF would get a bigger window for Canada dates for presales. I havent figured out why the decisions being made as they are (never have really with them LOL). Maybe they (whoever "THEY" are) felt that Canada wasnt as a big a market? Just pure speculation on my part. Only thing I can think of is MAYBE they were thinking Marvels was going to have a bigger presale and so wanted to hedge their bets as to their inventory. Again, pure speculation on my part.

Good to have another one of us up here. The app changes makes some it a little tricky, at least for me, so I'm sticking to just high level updates, but, good to have someone else up here with @Tinalera and @DAJK. If there's anything i can help with, just holler.

I had hoped at least for App users it would stay up for the seat counts, even if website was not doing it. Im slowly building up some excel stuff where I keep the the max seats available, along with it being AVX-IMAX ect. But its slow and even then Im pretty sure Im not getting absolutely exact numbers, more close approximate (yes I am counting those individual seats per theatre, not its not fun-but then Im weird that way lol). Its why my counts havent been as much recently (though in case of Swift now its pretty much down to "when is it a sellout")

And welcome @Jsmitty-always good to have another Canadian view :)

Are the new shows close to sell out? What type of shows were added. Was it adding a new screen, or was it adding back matinees?

My area didn't add any new shows while I was tracking, other than one theatre adding an 11:00 pm show that's not selling much yet.

No new afternoon shows that I could see, there was what looks like two shows (2 theatres 1 show each)  added for an evening show. Im surprised that the Matinees were taken out, they sold like hotcakes-I know I heard it had something to do with the Britney agents not wanting them-maybe trying to do the "limited scarcity" type thing-but money is money right?

I only do updates from my phone, but, I've had people reach out to me to offer a script that can do the pulls automatically. I don't have a PC that I can install stuff like that though.

You might want to look into that to ease the burden. But, I'm not a techy, so no idea how it works.

I might have to-I do have the PC. Ill see how things play out, but may do the reach out for scripts.

Just a heads up, Cineplex has upgraded their app.

I just downloaded the new version, and it's going to make my updates a lot harder to execute.

I'm going to play around with it a bit, but, I might have to change my approach, and may not be able to cover as many theatres.

Edit: It's worse than I thought. They no longer display the amount of seats sold or still available. I don't have the skill or patience of @Tinalerato do the manual counting.

Yep I wondered when the APP stuff would change over to not showing sales. I do get not having that patience. Its why Im in the process now of counting seats in theatre on my pages, keeping a "total seats" for each theatre, and they being AVX/IMAX/VIP ect

Im doing it on a PC so its a little easier to zoom in and count (and I am doing it in small stages, hence why I havent been posting counts lately (also real world stuff and busyness).

Its a serious pain in the tush though I agree.

Are any of the showings IMAX screens?

I've found those to be the lowest capacity. When sales opened, evening IMAX shows were being held for IMAX, and then only opened around D2 or so, once Exorcist had moved.

On my side, they've remained slow to sell. I'm wondering if demand might be higher in Vancouver. It's one of the markets that people thought might get some tour dates before announcing Toronto getting 6. I'm wondering if the lack of access to the tour might be propelling it a bit more.

Ill have to check again that to see if any IMAX screens.

I think the access is a key thing, and I think many in concert are probably watching this (I know there are some concerts of perhaps not as visible acts they show, but not of Taylor Swift concentration). Wouldnt surprise me to see other big name/lack of access due to popularity follow in the footsteps here.

At least 2 of these shows were like 2 away from complete sellouts. Again, the nuttiness of Cineplex with the whole removing shows (or maybe they were sold out, I just went with numbers I had with me) either way yes massive selling. May have to start looking at rare (for me) Saturday counts just to see if those numbers are pretty steady but yea, this is gonna make mucho money I think.

You've encountered the issue that's been bugging me all week. Welcome to the party.

The issue appears to be that Canadian theatres at the outset were selling tickets to shows on the Friday afternoon. This applies to Cineplex, but also Landmark Cinemas as well. This, despite the US being only evening shows on opening day.

What happened at some point last weekend, is there was some decision to stop selling tickets to these shows. Likely from Taylor Swift's camp.

These showtimes disappeared off the website and apps. From what I could see in my tracking these shows were far sold out. From my tracking, they consisted of about 5800 tickets over 121 showtimes, or under 50 tickets per show at the time of disappearing.

No public statement has been made that I can see. Customers who had tickets to these shows were not notified that the show was cancelled. It's basically been a holding pattern all week.

If they cancel, I anticipate that there will be a rush on other tickets, but nothing has materialized.

Nothing has shifted on this all week. Ive been providing updates when I do my posts this week, but there hasn't been much to report.

Okay thanks :) I guess Ill just post what I have, means showtimes will obviously disappear compared to my previous count.

This Taylor Swift has been all sorts of just plain nutty trying to do tracking for it lol. Nice to know I wasnt just going through this surrealness alone!

  13. Could use some advice here. Trying to do my (somewhat) tracking of Taylor Swift here in Canada, and Im noticing that my amount of shows have dropped per theatre-whereas I had 7 shows in one theatre, now there are only 3-4. Should I be assuming then those other shows just sold out and track them accordingly? It used to be that it would still (on my pc anyway) a sold out show would just show as "sold out" with the time, now it looks like its just removing that showtime entirely.

Again, should I treat those that have "disappeared" compared to previous counts as "sold out" and add those numbers accordingly?

I mean these shows are selling out incredibly fast/very limited seat availablity, like if a show isnt sold out, its like 80-90 percent sold at least.

Like I said it doesnt help the theatre no longer lists a showtime as "sold out", it just removes it entirely.

Right now just doing Friday shows as I basically am rebuilding my eat volume for each screening, having to do a new way of doing things.

What I CAN say is that these numbers may be off but not by much, most of the shows here are are 30 or less away from absolute sell outs

Just a note, opening day is Friday, October 13th. Not the Thursday.

Also, your numbers are presumably coming from the same national chain as mine and numbers align pretty well. I'm at 98 tickets per showtime. You're at 88. But, I'm guessing you've got more bigger theatres with multiple showtimes going on.

My average is being pulled up by theatres that have one evening showtime, that are almost sold out. They don't open for matinees.

At 7.5 showtimes per theatre, you've probably got a lot matinee shows with low numbers dragging it down a notch.

Thank you for correction on start time. Yea Im getting some 300 plus seat theatres in there. And like I said, slowly easing back in and Im having to manually count seats because A my phone doesnt like the Cineplex App, and B on their screen counts on website (on PC) don't show X amount of X sold anymore. So yea its kind of fun....lol
