    Yes its definitely been a tale of 2 stories....just intriguing how 2 disney properties can have two opposite reactions two well recieved og films. Perhaps people are more intrigued by "realistic" looking animals. It certainly got peoples attention as you said in trailers. I can see it doing 1b ww total and agree 500 to 600 maybe domestic.

    Ill put sat numbers for aladdin up in a bit but rest of today and tomorrow very little change presale wise. Friday final numbers will give a better clue, but right nowwalk ups are the hope for london it seems

    Its interesting. Aladdin may or may not make 100 over 4 day according to tracking but lion king 3 day could have 200 million. I have to wonder many people for opening weekend made their decision on Smiths first impression as blue genie ( never get 2nd chance to make a first impression)

    7 mil thursday. Interesting. Now we get to see wom and weekend walkups how they do.

    If this does deadline numbers, it will be an interesting mystery where they got their numbers from with other sources suggesting higher. Theu would have seen something no one else did. The ebbs and flows of social media and moviea certainly makes things interesting. We get all thos sales tracking data, trailer views, review sites, twitter....one would think ( for any movie) all this data could give us some reasonable context for prediction. I can imagine how something like pika or aladdin makes people who do this for a living would make one pull their hair out. And the same ones who have to explain executives.... "Um....we have no idea why this happened"

    I will never not be amazed when i see these posts. Just amazing. The fact you do greater sacramento thats a lot of theatres and a lot of seats. Maybe one day ill tackle sw ontario or just greater toronto. Great work 😂

    Any idea when we will start getting thursday numbers/estimates?

    So if i apply my "probably totally off base what am i thinking?" idea.....i try and guess the x10 multiplier of previews for ow ( not withstanding my very contrary thurs numbers wont tell story i said yesterday) a 10x gives a 70-80 ow, which kind of follows tracking (well some of it anyway) 80 mil for 4 day weekend though....thats rough. There has to be some decent walkup imo to get this to a 3 digit ow mark. Again back to wom...will people recommend it for legs? Again my totally unscientific i must be crazy opinion

    I get the feeling thursdays numbers good or bad are not going to really predict weekend. It just feels like a big unknown until we at least start getting friday saturday numbers.

    My silvercity went from 1 screen 4 showings to 12 showings 5 screens (1 IMAX). What ls really weird: 2 IMAX showings are in afternoon but no evening and 2 non imax ( but in same theatre) are at 7 and 10pm Sales for weekend though are pretty anemic all around.

    I hadnt heard this. But it fits with the idea that ive heard the other reason they are pumping out the films is for content for disney plus ( and that goes into a whole discussion ot about streaming and film lol)

    If this has a deadline opening or lower there will still be a good wom hope ( but long faces at exec meetings tuesday morning). But if wom does not carry over, one has to wonder if they start thinking if aladdin did poor what does that mean for little mermaid lady and the tramp mulan ect for attendance ( i think lion king dodges this but its still in the mix). Whats the cut off? Is disney happy with remakes making 500 mil and up? Just wonder what they view return on investment? Because at the parks its becoming about star wars, marvel and (continuing) avatar with pixar in the mix imo.

    Thank you for the feedback...so basically more information the better. Its easier now that i figured polaris on my phone lol. Easier than back and forth transcribing. My computer is toast so i dont have fancier layouts.

    Just a curious question: when looking at theatre counts, is number of screens as important as amount of showings? IE Aladdin has 12 showings vs Aladdin has 4 screens 3 showings each? ( this is just for example) Does knowing amount of screens help you in taking context? Also does knowing something is IMAX/avx/regular seating help? Im just trying to better represent my information.

    There were defnitely a lot of boy things. Cave of wonders abu(?) the monkey, Iago, genie, aladdin. Jasmine was certainly there for the girls and the romance and the whole "let me decide my life" theme. ( andyes there were girls who wanted aladdin adventure and boys who connected with jasmine) worked for both sides very well

    Okay 70-90 is what seeimg more of now so it seems to be settling down. I said it before but imo a big part of its legs will be do people buy smith as genie vs williams. Edit: i dont critics having an effect one way or another too much. It will be wom from friends or "ill see for myself" after getting a general read

    Weird really. A movie where theres debate about how an animated creature looks too weirdly real vs a movie wheres theres debate the character should stay animated
