    This is first discussion board where im not just contributing discussion but stats that are all collected on here and each person with their geographic location has input to a bigger picture. Its awesome that i can add my little piece to the collective and it actually means something. I look on other sites and BOT has some seems to be a go to site for numbers and info. And the....off topicness is kept to a minimum and while we all have our favorites its nice to see that we can all agree to disagree. I mean its box office discussion...its not serious business.....right?

    Evidently i missed a party here😁 So im seeing tracking of 70 to 90 million for 4 day? I thought a saw 120 a while ago but thats old news? Just wondering most recent tracking.

    Regarding animation...i thought i read somewhere after TS4 Disney said theyre going back to original projects (I cannot see them giving up on Frozen though) and getting away from sequels (at least in animation). I Wonder if its diminishing returns on merchandise ( though supposedly cars still has huge merch sales). I know on the theme park front they opened Toy Story land to an okay response. Big push now in theme parks for them is Marvel Star Wars and Avatar. Which they have obviously lots of movies coming. I guess between those properties and the push for Live action/realistic remakes animation has to fit somewhere. Maybe the hope for another Frozen type smash

    On an overall observation about presales in general: as presales become the norm now it certainly adds an element to watch. Im finding its far too easy to say "oh look its speeding up! Big opening" or "gosh sales have dropped not looking good" on any movie. Its quite the learning experience for me. I can only imagine what its like to get paid to do this as part of a marketing position for a studio

    Im quickly learning the challenges of predicting movie ticket sales! Lol Part of me wants to go with a touch knee jerk reaction that fans are starting to say "Oh another live action remake?" Disney keeps pumping them out and we have Mulan and Little Mermaid down the pipe (Lion King technically isnt live action its realistic CGI animals but yes it looks "real"). I think Aladdin may partially answer question "did people like aladdin? Or did people like robin williams genie?" The other part of me is trying to just look at the whole picture. I think Aladdin will do better than dumbo but not massive. Of course if it is a success we will get return of jafar and king of thieves. I see maybe a 60 mil opening. WOM is going to quickly determine if Smiths genie is yay or nay and i think will be a big part of how much success it has

    I wonder how much effect that freddie is gone affects BR? Sir Elton is still alive and well. I just wonder how much that had an impact I see rocketman doing star is born numbers as well. I think kotm will gross more ( ive had a couple friends it looks like a "proper" godzilla with focus on Imax sized monsters just slugging it out...they werent fans of previous zilla taking like 2/3 film to get to monster action) But yea i personally see kotm doing bigger numbers

    Aladdin and Rocketman london previews Silvercity Aladdin 2 showings 51 of 626 sold Rocketman 1 showing almost sold out 61 of 69 sold Westmount Aladdin 4 avx showings 88 of 688 seats sold. Rocketman 2 showings 1 no sales yet 1 43....looks like west will be overfill when city sells out

    Its been an interesting view. I was expecting perhaps a bit more, thought that pokemon go might get more people from a casual point but i guess not. I admit i dont know a lot but friends of mine who are poke fans have also mentioned sony, pokemon company, detective pika is a spinoff gamewise of pokemon ect....apparently differences of opinion among various groups

    Im always fascinated on weekend nights when this thread goes quiet People out there watching movies and just doing things. Good to see. While i have a moment a shout out to everyone who makes new posters feel welcome! Its awesome feeling part of this community! Back to weekend stuff. Wick should get a small boost here in Canada as we have holiday victoria day weekend. Be interesting to see Sunday nights and monday numbers

    I wish our theatres could sell that many movies in advance lol. I can access aladdin and rocketman previews 2 showings one screen. Trying godzilla just "coming soon". Theatres where adjust on a quick basis so not a lot of advance sales Edit im apparently a liar lol I can access them but i have to go to cineplex site not london silvercity site. Kotm had 4 showings in imax Dark phoenix has 2 Both for open weekend....learn somethong new lol And john wick 650 show dbox is sold out.

    Someone i knew who worked in the tv industry said "everyone wants the next spongebob... But different from spongebob". In movies substitute "marvel" and i think it still works. But i agree someone has to create new things and take those chances. But hollywood can be fickle about unknowns

    So these upticks in dark phoenix: wonder where interest is brewing? Fans knowledgable about fox/disney and "end" of current xmen gen? Casual fans inspired by marketing? Some other factor? Its interesting how there seems some interest surge. Just wondering where it might be coming from.

    Same for the theatres in my area. The early shows for thursday good turnout....late shows not so much
