    A quick look at pikachu in london shows 14 showings at silvercity for friday but seat counts are almost ghost towns. Meanwhile looks like dogs journey might be dead before its opening weekend...those percentages dont look good. Not much change in london for mr wick previews. Not sold out be good numbers at both theatres

    Aladdin has been an interesting view as far as social media. First trailer was mocked with Will as blue genie, second trailer a complete 180 " a whole new world is amazing," "now that looks like aladdin" ect, now clip of prince ali "dull, looks flat" "genie just walking, slow pace ect. Its up and down and i wonder if we get another "wow" clip between now and opening Really interested to see how it opens and how close or far it is from social media response

    So as s newbie....whats the significance of comps? When comparing and i see the percentages what sorts of things am i looking for? Whats the sigmificance of being closer vs further to a percentage?

    Saturday may 18 london ontario John wick Silvercity 12 showings (4 avx 4avx dbox 4 standard) Westfield 8 showings all standard As of may 15 Think mr wick is going to be a popular man.

    John wick already 4 showtimes each at london silver city and westview theatres on a tuesday for opening weekend saturday Only other is an early into the spiderverse 10am showing onv at. London theatres wanting to get the wick availability out early (these are for standard showings)

    I also see aladdin doing pika type ow maybe mid 60s. Its like pika in that "how will people respond" quality imo. Kotm i think will be a leggy film it feels like a summer popcorn film...people go see on a whim (im afraid of using "walkup" lol) wondering if theatres might get some people double viewing..john wick and godzilla will make a good pair of action films to catch on a weekend afternoon or evening

    So just catching up to weekend numbers. Pika at 54 million and i massively over predicted it-yay me!- what an odd ride that was. So now we how pika legs go John wick- should be interesting. An anticipated R movie that will be an interesting R interjection weekend wise sandwiched on both sides with pg and pg 13 movies ( well rocketman also at end pf month)Seems to be some enthusiasm for mr wick. I see tracking of 50 mil....could it hit 60 i wonder.

    For next thursday london has john wick 2 showings each at west and at silver city. Cineplex isnt showing times past that day Westfield also has 4(!) thursday showings of aladdin the following thursday with kotm and rocketman getting 2 each on the final thursday of the month

    Its early i know. I was expecting eg a bit higher but almost 70 mil 3rd wkend is still impressive DP is an indicator seems to slowly solidify that 55-65 number. We shall see how weekend goes.

    Thanks. I realize its part of the social media thing and sites do thisfor all movies just to get clicks. But as a consumer it sure sends some weird messages. This movie poised to smash no wait its disappointing no wait its huge not wait it isnt. 😆

    Thats interesting, London ontario cineplex ADDED 2 showings of The Hustle on Sat for 6 showings up from 4. Surprised me a bit going by the general poor stuff im reading Edit: right mothers day weekend. That explains a bit

    Its fascinating. In japan it opened in 3rd on their chart. Yet i read possible reason for that is (paraphrasing) japan doesnt really get into north american treatment of anime/manga properties. So does that suggests an asian property with west interpretation will do better in west? Interesting perspective.

    Its interesting to see how studios are using things like fake leaks, deadpool vignettes, fake footage in trailers ( infinity war) to keep people interested in this social media age (a little tiny part of me still wonders if the sonic reveal was a test bed for reaction and negative response was "okay lets try version b")They have to keep creative because repeating ideas will fade and audiences will get skeptical.

    So heres my tinfoil bonnet idea about pika slowly creeping in percent. I think there are a lot of fence sitters and some are slowly taking an "eh why not?" view. WOM will be interesting after first weekend. I think the fence sitters react then. 2nd weekend either has a strong hold or big drop. IMO people will react strongly one way or other...very little middle ground.

    Endgame opening weekend i was interested in how boffo the numbers would be. For pika i am just intrigued which way numbers will go. Its got such a potential range and im legit curious what final number will be. Fascinating
