  2. You do pretty much what I do-manual counts. I dont have programs to go and find all the stuff automatically. I used to do it on my phone till I got a puter, now I do it on computer. ANd yes when Cineplex changes parameters it totally throws things off. My phone is a cheapie and doesnt seem to want me to even get the app (prolly not enough memory lol). I used to do just SW Ontario, but then decided (ha!) to check some countrywide to get various takes. I think you're doing a fantastic job, and just do what you feel comforable with-what I love about the site is no judging here on how you collect data, or how much or little, every little bit counts
  3. When I have Vanc/Cal, Toronto/MTL and east coast (which i havent done in a while, heres what I find: Van and Calgary always seem to be a little bit less that Toronto (obviously population), and sometimes can be surprisingly behind. Toronto is its own, usually has most seats, Montreal is weird.....its hard to even sometimes to find even bigger shows to have presales-whether its smaller theatres or what have you. East coast I haven't done in awhile because no matter film (again smaller population) seems to be like the "last ones" to catch up as far as Population. I will do Toronto/Montreal Tomorrow for BB and see where things are. Im just getting impression that Cineplex is really "holding on" to Oppy and Barbie screens wise for literally as long as it can. Hence why stuff like Aug movies arent getting alot of the IMAX type screens. And yes, I do big cities-my time of doing smaller areas I don't do much anymore, so its great when those like yourself cover the smaller areas

  6. Sorry for total LACK of activity here on my part lately. Life just being life, and seeming scarce amount of presales for Aug films (and scarce actual screens) has made this a bit of a tough one Apologies for the really scarce info, I get what Cineplex gives me. Strays Vancouver and Calgary Canada Thurs Aug 17 (no friday presales yet it seems) # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent Vancouver Thurs 1 3 11 220 231 0.0476 # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent Calgary Thurs 3 9 2 1016 1018 0.0019 This is literally what I get for my counts for presales. Apparently Friday sales are verboten at the moment out west for Strays. And for the Thurs shows, of the theatres I regularly track, these are it. I know August is a tough month, but wow this is....looking at empty theatres and lack of theatres doing presales for upcoming films is hard. Im guessing stuff like Barbie and Oppenheimer theatres are just continuing to keep those shows on the a lot of screens, and guess leaving stuff like BB, GT and now Strays just kind of grabbing whatever scraps they can

  8. Edit: Just wanted to re write this to be simpler-Im trying to start a fresh count for Gran Turismo-and I pretty much have a wasteland of seats lol
  9. A quick little count as I adjust things because my pĥone doesnt like Cineplex app....sigh just Toronto here Blue Beetle Toronto Ontario Thurs Aug 17 Fri Aug 18 (For those interested, the theatres are Yorkdale, Scotiabank Theatre, Yonge and Dundas, and Yonge and Eglinton) Toronto # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent Thurs 4 16 33 4422 4455 0.0074 Fri 4 26 13 7331 7344 0.0017 Yea, thats.......yea. For presales less than a week to go, not ideal.
  10. Hey, just checking in. Havent been doing any real counts recently-had busy stuff going on. Things settling down now so hopefully I can get back to at least semi regular counts. I mean August tends to be a pretty dead month. Ive mainly been causally following Blue Beetle-and limited pre-sales in those cities, and the ones that are having presales, well lets just say theres a whole of of low single digit or o digits. I havent checked Toronto or Montreal past few days, but if its similar, with a week to go seems like there seems to be little appetite for BB. Doesnt help either with Barbie, Oppy, and other theatres taking up IMAX and prestige screens, BB is getting some avx, and a couple have bigger theatres but generally smaller theatre screen offerings.
  11. website. I don't have the app on my phone. Not enought room (I have a cheapie phone lol May try adding app to see if works and my phone doesn't have me. Havent got app up yet, but fortunately from previous counts I have seat numbers and totals. Its pretty easy to match up the counts for the theatres by just looking at my total for each show normally and deducting the sold seats. But yea hope for app it stays that way (seat numbers) because that's gonna be a bugger if they switch that over as well.
  12. Just tried it on website, (not app)-still no numbers, unless they put them in a different place? Or maybe I have to have the app to get numbers. Im fine doing the manual count, but it was nice having the "20 seats out of 100 sold" info. My phone is a cheapie and doesn't like apps lol. So I just use the website.
  13. Looks like Cineplex is deciding to make trackers go extra steps now. No longer any x amount x remaining numbers. Nope just a map of the seats and it will block off seats as they get sold. Good old abacus and finger counting time BTW took a look at Blue Beetle numbers for Vancouver and Calgary.....nothing sold yet, and Im only getting a couple of my usual theatres selling presales.
  14. I was under impression that GT was going to do the Last of Us thing and be a streaming series, didn't realize they made a full length movie.
  15. Who knew in a summer with Indy 5 and Mission Impossible the big attention would be movies about a comedyof a childs toy and a deep serious look at the creating hydrogen bomb. Really excited to see what these numbers end up doing weekend-what a ride.
  16. Found capacity constraints were an issue with the bigger cities up here as well-mainly in that a lot of them werent using IMAX and similar sized screens (no doubt being held up by MI 7 and Indy 5). Suspect Barbie could have had an even bigger number without those capacity limits.

Someone mentioned something about Disney still having screens tied up for Indy still, was seeing a lot of this here, very few Imax/prestige screens. Still this is incredible to see this with a non-tentpole movie. Have to wonder whoever (be it Hasbro or Aqua) not allowing the Barbie girl song in the movie might be seen as a huge missed opportunity.

  19. My own thoughts are that Canada for whatever reason just does its own thing, compared to US (and even compared to neighbouring cities lol)-they just have their own personality, logic just doesnt fit sometimes
  20. Mainly downtown. I could certainly stretch out more into suburban, but I only have so much time in the day these days lol, and not even getting a chance to do every day sadly. I am happy you are covering the suburbs and related, it really helps to give a bigger overall picture of whats going on
  21. Main cities-Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary. Ive fallen off of doing East coast recently, mainly in that they are even more problematic when it comes to getting seats released for presale. I should pick those up again just to see how they are doing. Montreal last I checked only had 2 theatres booking (may have changed) and I think one of those was at 50 percent) But even TO and Van city with more seats they are still doing great numbers.
  22. Laughing at the meme, not your prediction/suggestion. Canada numbers as I have said before are nothing Ive seen for a comedy (in my limited tracking). Its been quite a ride to be sure.

I think for certain cities (like Montreal area) perhaps there is so much content from the summer so far, esp if those films are doing decent (and a certain movie about hydrogen or something), not helping as for them to decide which seats to release for pre-sale. Again though, these numbers for Barbie are just eye opening. And just a reminder, reason why Montreal only has 2 theatres instead of usual 4, its because there are no presales available yet for those theatres. I didnt choose to do just 2, thats all it would give me for montreal. )
