  1. Lol metacritic are you serious? We've already explained it to you, some movies get flooded by troll reviews from people who haven't even seen the film. Metacritic is especially vulnerable to this. Captain Marvel has 3.5/10. I didn't particularity like that movie but everyone knows 3.5 isn't right and that movie made a billion.
  2. it's such a bad take I feel like I could report this post for offensive content
  3. there is a number of things in TDF that makes it much worst for these people than anything that was in Fury Road. Can't go into it without spoilers, but it isn't the same
  4. You haven't been paying attention, it was the exact opposite for Alita. Captain Marvel was the target, and Alita was mostly approved by those same people. They are are stupid, but what triggers them is slightly more nuanced than just female hero = bad. the best tell is the metacritic score: CM has about the same as TDF (3.5/10 !) While Alita is at 8.6/10 (it was even stronger at release.) Alita also had a ridiculously high RT score (pre-verified era). And TDF is at 86% positive on the verified RT, that 3.4/10 on Meta clearly shows the movie is getting targeted by some angry dudes Bottom line is, user scores are user scores and they are far from reliable. Especially when a movie gets "targeted".
  5. okay first of all I'm comparing DP to TDF, not Genisys. And DP has 5.6 on imdb. The movie was universally shit on bit critics and fans. Secondly Dark Fate was always going to have negative user scores, you know because the angry internet mob don't like "woke" movies. Pretty sure 90% of those people voting haven't seen it... 3rd - There's no question the reception is more positive than Genisys, if you factor in critics. And I'm pretty sure it wasn't getting said nearly as much that it was the best one since T2. Besides that movie hit around 90m. It's still not good but TDF below 60? Common that's not happening
  6. Okay I'm not going to say it looks good but TDF not hitting 60m is just crazy talk. Dark Phoenix managed 65 with absolute shit WOM, and released in a terrible spot. Terminator is a broken but still well known IP, and enough positive is getting said about the movie, it won't collapse that much.
  7. I don't think they went 3D for that one (surprising for something that has James Cameron's name on it). Going to see it in IMAX.
  8. Terminator: Dark Fate is now officially a better movie than Joker
  9. Reviews seem to be holding up pretty well, now at 69% on RT 143 reviews counted. That will help, it's tough out there for anything that isn't a superhero movie or Disney remake, can't afford to be trash and still cash in a billion.
  10. And it means little for Spielberg as well. Yes Spielberg has some billion dollar movies to his name, but that's only because he has a ton of stuff with his name on it, not because he's some absolute reliability as a producer. He also has a lot of bombs to his name. Besides, his largest successes are as executive producer, not producer. Which means even less of a hands-on role.
  11. Well that's just not true isn't it? He's credited as a producer for True Lies, T2, Titanic and Avatar. Should we not count them just because he also directed them? His movies are some of the most complex projects in movie history involving much more than just holding the camera and directing. He works in concert with many experts in different fields, did an actual underwater exploration project for Titanic, years of R&D developing new tech for his movies etc.
  12. Where is your complaining when everyone is badmouthing Cameron? Double standards. I love Spielberg like everyone else, but he has over 170 credits as a producer, he can't possibly be very involved in most of them.
  13. Lol what does that mean? Spielberg, great producer of Transformer movies I guess? He just attaches his name to a lot of projects and hopes something sticks. He's basically just an investor, his name as a producer means nothing creatively. Spielberg has a hard time even directing movies that won't bomb these days
  14. total buddy, nobody said ow Deadline has the ow at $33,000,000 – $43,000,000 so far
  15. Do you think T1 and T2 were successful because of the studio? This isn't Marvel. They brought back the guy that actually made them successful (James Cameron) and brought in Tim Miller after the success of Deadpool. You can believe what you want to believe, but it made sense to think it could work. Meaningless word salad. Do you solely base your opinion on a movie on what a % of critics think? Besides, this is an action movie, not The Godfather
  16. they keep they they they they they they they they I keep hearing this, who the fuck is "they"? Arnold has tried a few times, but it was always missing two pillars of the franchise: Linda Hamilton and James Cameron. Right now whether they succeeded or not is a matter of opinion, but it's pretty clear a lot of people are loving this one. And Cameron likes the challenge, I'm sure trying to resuscitate a franchise was appealing (especially one he created). Has he succeeded? Well it's getting mixed responses, but I see a lot of praise. And that RT score is steadily getting better (67% based on 58 reviews). Not that a % should matter (plenty of over 90 shit I did not care about), but the overall impression I get is that while too similar to its predecessor, it's a great action movie and a successful return to form
  17. Well no sh**. But regardless of genre it's still funny that a movie that grossed 2.796 billion still couldn't beat a movie that grossed 433.4 million in a large market like Japan. Superhero movies are also not huge in Europe, but you don't see that same stark contrast with Terminator
  18. Still funny to me that T3 made more than Endgame in Japan and pretty much every other superhero movie. T2 must have been huge there as well, maybe the themes about the nuclear holocaust had something to do with it. The franchise has been on a steady decline in Japan though. I have no expectations, but I'm curious to see how the new one will do over there.
  19. some go a bit further: and others have more to say really positive so far from randos who have seen the special screening and critics. Really curious to see how that will translate in reviews tomorrow. If they turn out negative that was pretty damn strong smoke screen they pulled off. Though Terminator movies are such an easy target for critics. They have to be compared to the first 2 classics and admittedly this one seems to be sticking a bit too close to the formula. Don't care much if it's a good action movie personally, but that will probably be a point of attack for a lot of critics.
  20. early reactions: https://collider.com/terminator-dark-fate-reactions-reviews/?utm_campaign=collidersocial&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitter Early reactions are early reactions although the interesting thing is the Alamo special T2 + 20 minutes TDF screening was actually the full movie. I don't want to jump the gun but so far seeing nothing but praise
