Chapek may not have wanted to involve Disney in this fight, but at this point, it would behoove him to try and leverage this in his favor by keeping good on his word.

It could still be a Mortal Kombat weekend multiplier and final DOM gross...
Could be...

We still need to see the weekend totals before declaring it a success, but I think it will be fine.

It'll make quick money and do well enough to either get a sequel or another Villain movie. That's all that matters to Sony.

For movies relying on male demo yes
Well, yes. But I mean that won't meaningfully put a dent in this movies opening weekend.

Just judging based on people I follow, Saturday bumps will likely be really low in the evening because of Duke vs UNC. Seems like it's being treated like the Superbowl by a lot of people.
Will it really have any significant on the box office?

I'm so curious to see the FSS drops for Morbius. Will WoM really be that toxic, or will it be met with more of a collective shrug?
Bit of both, but more of the latter. It's lackluster, but hardly anything that would keep general audiences away from it.

When a movie is so bad the WoM spreads quickly.
It's gonna sink like a rock, but I'm curious to see how long it takes before that happens. Will it enjoy a honeymoon period on opening weekend or will we see a drop tomorrow?

Now to see if the word of mouth will kick in this weekend.

Not bad. We'll see how that holds as word of mouth spreads over the next two days.

It'll need to have a good enough opening to make up for the competition that will cut off its legs.

Any guesses for what preview numbers are looking like?
-
Hard to think of how Chapek could have handled this worse. He made himself look like a weak leader with no control over his staff, opened the floodgates for more people at Disney to speak out against the company, and put himself in the political crossfire.

As I expected, numbers didn’t move much. Only 51 seats sold now over those 6 showtimes. Really bad numbers for my theatre but let’s see what happens over the weekend.
Can't imagine they're gonna move much.

what can we expect for FB3?
$40-50M is my guess.

Yes, but Venom was bad in a very enjoyable way. Even many critics who gave it a bad review mentioned that it wasnt boring at least.
Morbius gets bad reviews in the "its bad and boring"-way, which is poison for its audience reception.
Not to mention, Venom is more popular.

Those 30 million estimates are looking real over optimistic now.
Those preview numbers will be quite telling...

What buzz? This movies been tapped out on building anticipation for two years.
I don’t think there’s any anticipation for this, either. I just want to know if the Marvel connection will be enough to put butts in seats.
-
Very curious to see if there’s enough buzz surrounding this to push this to $40-50m.

Ok despite everything I haven't lost hope with Morbius, in my opinion it still should be able to gross about 100M in USA/Canada and 150M in the rest of the world, and with a release in China maybe it will add another 10/20M...
Assuming we don't find out that the budget is actually higher than $75M.
