The thing about walk-ups nowadays is, once your preview number is in, it pretty much "lock" your ultimate weekend number, There is hardly any surprise element like you can have unusual walk-in business throughout the weekend. The most you can go is 10x-11x of preview number.
Can the movie at least stay fresh?? Last movie was rotten but hugely successful as it was during the peak of Minion-mania. Now this need more solid review to fight fatigue.
Not only from SK, the entire East Asian from Taiwan to Indonesia, are still contributing big buck to the gross until Thor 4 open, Minion 2 could be big but that target mostly different segment of audiences.
I thought Universal mentioned earlier (was it during CinemaCon) that JWD and Minion will have different arrangement from other Universal distributed film?
The summer has more bad news than good news actually so far. Between DS2 garbage hold, JWD terrible review and meh opening, and now LY bomb, TGM is the sole great story we have. Which movie can be the next good news for moviegoing beside Thor 4?
Why do we have so many near miss to 100m here? Encanto, FB3 and now this....
ELvis that high?? So elvis, a biographical drama is possible to beat FB3 in total?
A rather sad weekend because of LY, offset by TGM awesome hold and not as bad as people fear numbers from JWD. And in fact, I think 400m total for JWD is still on table because the second half of the July and August were quite empty and should allow some crazy late legs benefiting JWD.
Instead of making a real-world hero that inspire Buzzlightyear, Pixar should make a spin off movie about how the toys in the toy story franchise are alive?
