Eh, one actor having dumb views doesn't make me lose goodwill for the franchise. Boseman's passing makes this one feel sad though, but I'm still very excited to see what Coogler comes up with.
Yeah it's Coogler I'm excited about. He's on a roll at the moment

Someone should change the thread title to 'No time to cry'

Just goes to show how impressive Venom's OW was. Though I don't think Bond was ever going to be the film to bring America back to the cinema, but you guys did have me excited and expecting an 80m opening 😂

Not great, not terrible start for NTTD. Especially with the Wednesday and 4pm Thursday start. Spectre was 7pm Thursday only.

Its very possible the streamers leaked the 100m tracking of NTTD so it’d look like a bomb this weekend. I got my eyes on Serandos and Bezos…
It's because they are shorting Cineworld and Cinemark

Are there actually any numbers?
I can't imagine James bond having the rush factors of comic book movies in the US.

@Chicago @charlie Jatinder My bad! I was under (false) impression that turnout in UK was unusually high. Thanks for correcting me.
It was a surprise given the poor box office up until bond

You are an absolute clown mate. People getting assaulted and in some instances killed but "they should be thankful they have a job" get out of here with that nonsense.
So have nurses, don't see them going on strike. But yeah I'm the clown. Everyone all over the world have had to add covid measures, these people are no different

Wait why are we not happy that workers want better working conditions?
I'm bitter because I've had to work all pandemic and I haven't had my coffee today because we are out of milk

In the end, every business relies on the people you’re referring to as “lazy shits”
Some businesses have far more entitled workers than others though. Especially showbiz

Doesn’t really matter what the cause is as far as analyzing employer side consequences goes 😛
The only workers I really feel for are HGV drivers, must be a shit, depressing job as it is and most are paid by the mile rather than the hour so when someone decides to block busy motorways with protests, they are stuck in traffic on their own time rather than the employers
I'd just sell up and invest in a better business that didnt have to rely on lazy shits like these 🤣

@Let There Be Legion @john2000 I see. Thanks guys!
To be fair, Skyfall opened with 88M and Spectre with 70M so Bond was never superhero opening range in USA. UK blowup might have carried us away with 100M predix but currently projected range is in line.
To be fair, it didn't blow up in the UK, it's just did business as usual here, seems to be the case in the US too

You seem comically misinformed about the job market right now. It is hard to find new workers!
Because people have become lazy lol.

I think y'all are ignorning the most important factor. Why exactly would NTTD open better than Spectre?
There is no new attraction which can increment the numbers. It is basically just another Bond film which mostly aged people watch, not adding newer fans, so just like any ageing franchise, its gonna open lower.
Rest all is just noise.
I'd say being his last Bond movie and having better reviews and WOM is the attraction
Besides, it's surely too early to be dishing out estimates?

With what is going on with IATSE right now plus retail workers being treated like shit during the pandemic due to enforcing mask wearing, social distancing etc. I 100% side with the staff over the theatre chains here, if that means slightly less box office so be it.
If the chains want workers to come back offer better pay and work conditions, pretty simple (would also be my advice with studios and the crews)
Oh no you had to ask people to wear mask and keep socially distance just like EVERY JOB IN THE WORLD.
I'd just fire you all and employ others. Its not a hard job to replace and there's alot looking for jobs out there at the moment. These people have had a year off and the first thing they do when they get back is complain? How privileged

Yeah, workers being overworked after a pandemic with new strict, flawed safety protocols for demeaning pay.. they’re so lazy!
They are lazy lol. Everyone who had the luxury of an 18 months break has been lazy since the pandemic ended and I don't blame them if they've been used to not working. But don't make out that they are hard done by. They should be happy to be back at work but instead everyone is moaning that they actually have to earn their money now

1. It’s a bad/dangerous choice
2. Where did I say anything about box office?
3. She’s famous enough that the news has trended and gone viral and reported by Hollywood ReporterI've literally seen nothing of this news. I'm a movie nerd and I only know of this through this site. When BP2 comes out, the majority of people won't even know about her controversy unless she gets alot worse

You do realize there's millions and millions of people who don't agree with the mandatory push of the vaccine, right? She should be allowed to voice her opinion and concerns without people jumping down her throat. If you are vaxxed, and the vax works, you don't need to worry if others aren't.
So, yea, lighten up, Francis.
I'm all for vaccines for everyone but I must say I'm getting sick of people jumping down other people's throats for having a different opinion. I'd understand if this was as deadly as ebola but when your survival chance is 99%, I'm not going to call young people stupid for not bothering. People love a good moan, the way I see it is Im vaccinated, therefore I couldn't give a fuck if people around me were vaccinated too.
Now the only time I could imagine this being a concern is if you're a business owner and your staff keep going off sick with a covid because they don't wanna get vaccinated, that would piss me off, but people posting on a movie forum really don't have the right to moan as loudly as they do. If they are jabbed then they are safe, it's not worth arguing over

No it isn't. Wright being anti-vax is a disgusting rhetoric after the pandemic we've gone through and the lead character is not longer alive forcing a script rewrite. Get it together
Its her choice if she wants to be anti vax. This won't make an impact to the films box office as she's not famous enough for anyone to actually know or care.

I would recommend a change in script.
"Shuri is the new BP after T'challa retirement. Meanwhile, a mysterious pandemic is hitting Wakanda real hard. While everyone in wakanda are racing for cure and vax, Shuri vow to ban all vaccine. The death toll is catastrophic and Heart-Shaped Herb can no longer meet the demand, Soon wakandaian rise up against Shuri, but they are too weak and insignificant in front of BP. It is in this moment they realise the need to resuscitate Killmonger. "
Black panther 3.
Why not just write it for Winston Duke? That guy had so much charisma in his limited role that he'd have probably been a better Black Panther than the actual one

I mean Carano is making Nazi jokes and is anti vaxx lol. Also Wright is smart enough not to put it on front street anymore.
She didn't make any Nazi jokes, just made a nazi comparisson which wasn't that far off the mark and if it were just that she would have probably been let off the hook. Its just the fact she carried on stirring the pot after repeatedly being told to chill out. Disney just doesn't want that hassle, especially as a face as one their most iconic franchise.
Working for Disney is like having a wife, you either choose to argue with them and be right, or not argue and be happy.
