That's commitment -
It sounds to me like Avatars OW will be lowballed to the same extent Jurassic World was. Both sequels to the highest grossing movies in their current times. Avatar's OW adjusts to 90M today and it wasn't a pre established franchise so it would have to look really bad for it to go as low as 120-140m The one market I'm interested in is China. The first one made 200m back when the market was 10% of what it is now so I wouldn't be surprised if it became Hollywood's biggest movie there

With just 100 minute runtimes, how does one become Epic? -

I think sacrificing The Harley/Joker romance for Jokers own billion dollar grossing movie has just proven to be the right choice though. More of those edgy teens turned up for Joker than SS. It changed course completely and it's been a huge success. Going by that, it would seem the one thing TSS didn't do well enough is steering far enough away from its predecessor. I would have stripped everyone and started fresh. Having half the characters and Idris in the lead made it look like they'd just replaced Will Smith's character with another black guy. Didn't realise it was a different character until I saw the movie. I get there are some people that would watch a Joker/Harley romance movie, but I don't think that audience is high enough to justify doing it, there are better options

I think Tom Hardy was born to play a Bond Villain -
TSS is their 3rd highest rated film on IMDB which has 10-20 times the sample pool of audience reviews as Rotten tomatoes. TSS is higher rated than both BOP and SS on all metrics, even RT's audience score despite your claim. No-one's saying TSS is some beloved film, it was just better received than their other 2 attempts and has left a better impression. We already saw the damage SS did to BOP, now we've seen the damage SS, BOP, Covid and same day streaming has done to TSS. And don't get me started on the music in that film. It was just random songs playing scene after scene trying to disguise their shitty plot. The film wanted to be GOTG so bad that it made sense to just hire the guy. And the Harley/Joker romance? Who wanted more of that? Who are these people? I think we can safely say Leto's Joker was despised, the guy even took a break from social media after. But yeah I don't think TSS and Venom are similar at all, the reception to their first outings were far too different from each other, one made us want to see more whereas the other didn't

Trying to compare the 2nd weekend drop of a film available on the TV to a normal blockbuster release makes no sense. You're comparing incomparable stats so you can get the results you want to see despite TSS currently sitting as the 2nd highest rated DCEU movie on RT critic and user scores and IMDB. Well they are The Suicide Squad, it's literally what they do. Apart from Smith, who did you even want to return? We got Harley, Rick Flag and Waller. Let's face it, the rest of those small characters were total shit with the exception of Boomerang. They took out the dumb lizard, the boring gangster fire man and that woman with the swords who I honestly don't remember at all except for the fact there was a woman with swords. Instead we got polkadot, the rat lady (who gave the movie its heart, something missing from SS), John Cena and a hungry shark. Damn that shark alone had more personality than all the characters they dropped.

Considering Spectre opened on a Monday, I can't see NTTD having a lower multi. It's opening week was inflated alot more than Skyfall and NTTD

Maybe if they wanted a bit more buck but I'm happy they released the flop they did as it was far better. It's also sorted out their damage control on the property so even though it's a financial disappointment, atleast the franchise is no longer tarnished and can likely. The problem with SS is it tried to be a serious movie yet came across as bad. Aside from the main 3, none of the characters were fun or interesting and it's really seemed like they tried to mimic the first GOTG success with a random playlist of classic songs which had no bearing on the films story to the point of it being cringe. Venom new what it was and treated itself more as a comedy allowing the audience to be far more forgiving for its shortcommings. It also didn't have the immence hype and the brilliant trailers SS had to build high expectations.

If any Bond film is a Nolan movie it has to be Skyfall. After TDK, all movie villains were deciding to purposely get themselves captured only to make a grand escape.
