  1. In terms of story beats the first Dune movie shares quite a few similarities with the first few season of Game of Thrones, which did resonate with people. They could have emphasized the great houses political intrigue angle. But I'm not sure if selling sth as the new GoT would be a wise decision after GoT crashed and burned.
  2. Two nameless female characters kissing (for a split-second) in the background at the end of TROS, Lefou dancing with a man (for a split-second) at the end of Beauty and the Beast and Jack Whitehall's character in Jungle Cruise saying his "interests happily lay elsewhere" are examples of queerbaiting. From Wikipedia "Queerbaiting is a marketing technique for fiction and entertainment[6] in which creators hint at, but then do not actually depict, same-sex romance or other LGBTQ+ representation.[7] They do so to attract ("bait") a queer or straight ally audience with the suggestion of relationships or characters that appeal to them,[8] while at the same time attempting to avoid alienating other consumers."" 3. Have no idea if there's any truth behind what this dude is saying but I hope he's right. Probably not a popular opinion on a box office forum but without China in the mix we might get some actual LGBT representation by the time MCU's X-Men movies come out. Tired of Disney's pathetic attempts at queerbaiting.
  4. It says "screenplay by Chloe Zhao and Chloe Zhao & Patrick Burleigh and Ryan Firpo & Kaz Firpo". So I'm assuming the first draft was written by Ryan & Kaz Firpo, the second draft by Zhao &Burleigh and the final version by Zhao by herself.
  5. It's directed by Chloe Zhao and the trailer even highlights that so I think there's a 90% chance it won't be released in China.
  6. This is the first time Marvel has highlighted the director in a trailer, right? Also makes me think that they've already made peace with it not getting a China release.
  7. If only, haha. This is likely the reasoning. A month-long head start is still pretty unusual though.
  8. F9 was released a month early only in some Asian markets though. Dune, however, would be released early all over Europe. I don't think this will do big numbers in China (if they don't care about Star Wars then they won't care about an older, more obscure version of Star Wars) so by the time it releases in NA we should already have a good idea what its international total will be.
  9. I almost want No Time To Die to get delayed again just for laughs.
  10. You guys have nothing on the dude who put Tenet on Game Boy Advance in glorious 6 frames per second.
  11. This is releasing on September 17 in Russia, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Iceland, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Mexico. I wonder how that will affect its performance in the US. Would good wom lead to a bigger opening or will NA audiences be over it by the time it finally premieres in the US?
  12. The Wrap had an article out yesterday saying that Free Guy will have a 15-17M weekend. How were they so wrong?
