  1. The best film of 2021 along with Worst Person in the World...but that's not saying much. B+
  2. And then he bombed with The Beach but redeemed himself at the box office after that. Mostly by rotating between the same 3-5 A-list male filmmakers.
  3. Horrible, embarrassing, I cringed so many times. Watch the vastly superior NOTTING HILL instead. D-
  4. She's very talented so I hope she pops, but these new girls aren't transcending the online chatter. I guess the world has changed and so has the way we consume media is preventing true movie stars from popping. At 22, Julia Roberts was your mom and grandma's fave, your dad and brother's crush, and the girl your sister wanted to be friends with. EVERYONE knew her. If I say "Florence Pugh" at a family gathering, 2/3 will say "Florence Who?"
  5. She's popular on Twitter. Unknown outside of it. Even Kristen Stewart who is actually known outside of Film Twitter delivered flop (Spencer) after flop (Charlie's Angels) after bomb (Underwater) after bomb (Seberg) in the last couple of years.
  6. Pedo Pizza is just not a good movie. Worst Person on the other hand is great.
  7. I enjoyed this. Better than most of the garbage that got great reviews last year. No wonder it outgrossed them all combined. Grade: B
  8. Btw did the studio pay certain critics to give Mary Me good reviews? I wanted to like it, but it's one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
  9. I agree. It starts off well enough but after an hour I was bored as hell...and I still had two hours to go. Between this and Spencer, I'm not sure what critics are smoking anymore.
  10. If it becomes a hit, I can't think of an actress with a longer shelf life as a box office draw than Sandra Bullock.
  11. Oof Drive My Car was an absolute bore. The first hour is good. Stuff actually happens. The next two hours are painful. I wanted to like it and supported it...if you want to watch a playwright reciting lines for 3 hours, knock yourself out!
  12. Am I the only one who enjoyed Scream '22 while watching it but can't remember a single thing about it now?
  13. The way West Bomb Story managed to hold on to theatres is impressive, especially during the holiday period.
  14. You care about the legacy characters. The characters from this movie already evaporated, especially the Kardashian'd sister who is the daughter of you know who.
  15. Great for its budget and the state of the world, a bit underwhelming given expectations, buzz and reviews.
  16. Fun enough but basically regurgitates everything great about Scream without any memorable new characters or setpieces. C+
  17. We finally get an adult drama that finds a decent-sized theatrical audience and the numbers miraculously get SMALLER every week after it opens in more territories. It's like there's a conspiracy against movies without men swinging around in tights.
  18. This is the first time I've spoken about her. Calm down. You're not getting paid by her. Are you? Wouldn't be shocked if her team were paying randos on forums to speak well of her.
  19. IG followers are bought. It's all absolutely meaningless. Her team works very hard at creating the illusion of stardom for her. She couldn't even get a hit song as a recording artist. When her name draws people to buy tickets or at least stream a movie (she couldn't do it with Malcom & Marie), then she can be called a star.
  20. Is Nightmare Alley really predicted to do less than 4M? Holy shit it's truly over. A-list actor coming off a huge hit + A-list director coming off a BP winner + amazing supporting cast = megabomb?? It doesn't help that I still don't quite know what the movie is about, though.
  21. After this weekend Hollywood is going to redouble its efforts to make us think Zendaya is some A+ list superstar. Nevermind that Euphoria had middling numbers that were only considered successful because it drew people under 25 to HBO. Or that her Netflix movie absolutely bombed.
