  1. Saw the film yesterday afternoon. A few thoughts... --Where was Vision? Since this film is close to a sequel to Wandavision and she was grieving for him throughout, how is that motivation all of a sudden gone and it's nothing but her children? --America Chavez was horrible. She often interrupted something interesting with some stupid remark. Her 2 moms scene was obvious agenda-pushing and stood out as such. Same with the gay pride pin. I read that it's there sometimes and missing at other points. Was it CGI'd on? --"Horror" elements worked the best. Would love to know what the reshoots were and how much of the film's story changed. --Elizabeth Olsen is the MVP, but we needed a kick-ass final battle between her and Strange and not just "I'm sorry, now I'll kill myself" ending. --Cameos stunk and got no reaction from the audience. Wanda dispatching of them was well done. I had heard that people would probably be disappointed in the lack of a "holy shit" cameo, but I wasn't expecting this lame of a group. --The final post-credits scene got the worst reaction I've ever seen. Guy behind me yelled "that sucked" when it ended and others started piping in and were crabbing about it as they walked out. The other scene with Charlize Theron got zero reaction, just no engagement from the audience at all. --Liked it overall, probably a 7.5 out of 10. Could have been much better, though.
  2. Yes, that's right. A politician in this country has announced that he has a fantasy of a cartoon mouse and his pet dog doing the horizontal mambo to the world (on top of his "feud" with Big Bird, another fictitious character from a children's program, not too long ago). You can't make this up. Disney having the last laugh as these pervy hypocrites call themselves out. I don't think Disney or their shareholders are doing much laughing with the way their stock has performed the last few days since the DeSantis announcement.
  3. Saw it this afternoon with a surprisingly decent crowd, but there were a few walkouts about 3/4 of the way through and everyone that was commenting on the movie after seemed to despise it. Lots of laughter at the very last scene, too. I've been split on Eggers previous work, really liking The Witch but couldn't stand The Lighthouse.
  4. The patent dishonesty of calling this the "Don't Say Gay" bill when that wasn't the name is kind of what started the entire battle. I hope DeSantis doesn't chicken out and let Disney "negotiate" some settlement since, iirc, this won't go into effect until next year.
  5. I can't get enough of this insanity. Inject this into my veins, lol. If you don't think more than just MAGA's are looking forward to seeing someone finally kicking the teeth in of a Woke corporation, I hope you're prepared for Nov.
  6. LOL, would you care to put a little wager on the results of DeSantis vs whoever wins the Dem primary? DeSantis will win by at least 5 points, which is a landslide for FL.
  7. Well, if net worths have skyrocketed, then Dems should rout the GOP this fall.
  8. Biden showed in 2020 that you don't have to be the least bit charismatic or even bother to do much campaigning. If the incumbent is unpopular, you can stay home (which Biden did...the campaign was one lid called after another) and still win. If the inflation hasn't abated or we are in a recession, DeSantis or Trump will win. Pence is a non-factor. Won't even sniff the GOP nomination.
  9. “This would really hamstring their ability to do that, particularly in K-3" I can't believe the Left is going to run on it being fine to discuss gender or sexuality with little children of this age. That part of the bill is a no-brainer, but, hey, go ahead and make that a campaign issue. Please.
  10. We'll see in Nov if Florida voters side with Disney or DeSantis. If this board is correct and reflects the average voter, the Gov will be thrown out on his rear-end and Charlie Crist will win in a cakewalk. Don't think that's going to happen, though. https://quillette.com/2022/03/29/disneys-institutional-capture/
  11. You guys realize DeSantis is going to win re-election now by close to double digits because he's standing up to the insanity coming from Disney? Now they can't even say "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!" Hopefully, soon FL will take away Disney's tax breaks. https://www.newsweek.com/disney-remove-all-mentions-gender-roles-theme-parks-1693158?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1648631975-1
  12. Well, it was odd that there was more "gay gay gay" stuff than Ukraine shoutouts/statements. And I thought Lady Gaga did a really nice, sensitive job not letting things get too awkward. Liza Minnelli really wasn't up to being out there.
  13. Is it true that Rock did that joke in rehearsal with Will Smith in the room and there was no issue? If people really are going to excuse Smith's assault, then there has to be the same lenience given to anyone who wants to punch someone due to a joke they don't like. Or even a political shot. Can't wait for some conservative to walk up to Stephen Colbert or Jimmy Kimmel, and roundhouse him and see if they're cheered by the same people who now champion Will Smith.
  14. A Juno reunion? That makes sense then. Wonder if Diablo Cody will be included?
  15. Euphoria is the most unintentionally hilarious show on TV with some of the worst acting you'll ever see. From Zendaya's face-making just screaming "look at me acting" to Sydney Sweeney's doing whatever her one-note airhead thing is (when she's not taking her top off) to the ponderous pretentiousness of the whole endeavor, it really has to be seen to be believed. At least 90210 was entertaining at the beginning.
  16. Going to sound strange, but I thought the beginning of the Batmobile scene when the engine revved up was the best scene of the movie. Robert Pattinson was a terrific Batman but a poor Bruce Wayne, imo. Despised Zoe Kravitz's take on Catwoman and didn't think there was much chemistry at all. I thought Anne Hathaway was bad... And this Joker seemed super lame. The card in Batman Begins was 100% better. Nobody is going to be fired up to see Barry Whoever as Joker. If somehow Joaquin Phoenix had been in that cell, then it would have been a real "holy shit" moment.
  17. Are there really any spoiilers to be given? From what I heard, there are no fun "easter eggs" or post credit scene or anything to get people fired up for a sequel.
  18. How is this selling so far? At my theater in SE WI, sales were OK the first day but are getting very little business since. Friday night showings aren't even sold out yet. I'm seeing an 11AM show and it's almost empty. I just don't think the trailers have been that compelling.
