  1. 2015 reminds me of a very interesting year Universal once had. 2012 is a Year that Universal released Ted & Pitch Perfect which were both surprise hits but it was also the Year that Battleship, which Universal expected to do Transformers-like business, Snow White, going after LOTR crowd, and Bourne Legacy, an effort to continue the lucrative series, were all disappointments. This year, with Minions & Ted 2 still waiting in line to add to the war chest, Universal finally catapulted itself into the top of the ranks. How many studios have a pair of $1B grossers in a single year? Disney did it once in 2010 (Alice in Wonderland & Toy Story 3) and again in 2013 (IM3 & frozen). Warner did it once in 2012 with Dark Knight Rises & Hobbit 1. Can Universal do it this year with FF7 & JW?
  2. Owen Grady & Starlord have some of Indiana Jones characteristic in them. To him, the role is a walk in the park, and he could reject it precisely because he already plays Indy in Guardians & Jurassic World.
  3. After the spectacular performance in North America, I find it hard to believe this movie cannot hit $1B OS. Especially when we are talking about rampaging dins which does not require further translation internationally
  4. And they need to put the other Australian Peter Weir to work too.
  5. Mad Max 2 will be a bigger hit if Warner allows George f-ing Miller to be George f-ing Miller. Not the poor, battered, ordered-around George Miller. George f-ing Miller.
  6. Deadline crystal ball goes from $155M to $175M to $190M to $200M... Will it stop at $200M?
  7. My thinking was the movie opened to gazillion dollars and probably 90% of the world population has already seen the movie so...
  8. Kids come for the dinos, Dads come for Chris Pratt, Mom comes for Girl Power (the dinos, and maybe for Bryce Dallas), Geeks come for the whole package. The ultimate summer movie. If it is a simple formula, why No. 3 is such a lackluster effort? Too much of a thriller, an atmosphere of mean-spiritedness that permeates throughout.
  9. Disny is not prolific enough. Beyond Pixar, & Marvel, their line-up is almost nonexistent compared to Warner & Fox. They seem to unable to develop their own live-action tent pole outside of the Pirates movies, examples: Tomorrowland, Lone Ranger & John Carter.
  10. $400M prediction? $500M? Whatever happens to a humble $300M+? What's wrong with $350M???
  11. You should watch Safety Not Guaranteed again. Trevorrow is a relationship guy, he is not a scifi guy
